Leg tracker users - how much of a pain is it to align your body appropriately with your avatar?

I've had trouble with my real head being too far above my avatar's head. I've tried stooping down slightly when doing the initial 'sync', but I'm still not sure on a correct process to follow. My feet (the foot ball) are usually far above the avatar's feet too.

Having the viewport in the correct position is more important to me than leg tracking (esp since I'm using Kinect). Is there a guide to getting the optimal 'sync' between you and your avatar with body tracking?

Also are the foot balls supposed to be at the end of the foot or the start, or this middle?

The field of view is about 60 degrees so you need to put it 2+ meters away for it to work at all because currently it requires the entire skeleton to be visible. Even 2+ meters high and 2+ meters away facing down, it can barely fit my entire body, so the feet tracking is unreliable, and sitting down is almost certain to lose tracking because all the bones are on the edge of the frame and too close for it to understand. While you can technically lie down, it is functionally impossible to do aside from very occasionally by luck. You can't even use it to look around without turning, because the trackers inherit the headset rotation. Turning more than a few degrees in real life breaks the skeleton, so you have to play as if you have one sensor and turn with the joystick. Full body tracking inherently has problems with avatar proportions, but they seem even worse with kinect so you'll end up with retarded looking postures and bone behaviour. You can somewhat compensate by squatting slightly when entering the model's T pose, but the posture will never look truly right. Often, both legs bind to the same tracker, so you have to keep changing avatar to fix all this.

Literally all you can do is slightly raise your legs or make small kicks at the cost of fucking up basically everything else. The only hope is that the lower body only mode will improve this next month.

I have a model for a map, split into a billion pieces. Obviously, if I leave this as is, that would make for shitty performance. So i want to join them all into a single mesh, or at least simplify it into 2 or 3. yet, when I do, their textures disappear. Like, the COLOR of the texture remains, but the texture of the two linked objects disappears. Like they no longer support textures, because even when i apply different textures, it doesnt work.
