Under the renderer, mess around with the min and max particle settings. I have mine at 0 and 2. I was having the exact opposite problem where it looked fine from a distance but particles became less visible up close. I think your problem is that the particles stay the same size on the screen as you get further away, making their transparencies overlap more and therefore creating a bigger glow.

I think you're right about the particles staying the same size on my screen, although I'm not sure what would cause that. When I play around with the start size that fixes the issue, but then the effect is sort of lost since it just makes everything into small dots. Plus, changing the size of the max particles didn't seem to actually do anything for me whether I had it at 1 or 1000 while changing the start size.

Although if I don't change the start size and just make the max particle at 1000, it doesn't get brighter when I zoom out which is good, but it makes it so bright to begin with that it doesn't really help.

I've raised them enough in blender so the actual feet aren't in the ground, but because of how it looks like the bones are working her feet naturally point angled downwards and thereby stick her footwear into the ground.

I heard that Rift has like superior hand tracking, but Vive have full body with aditional sensors and is generally better at tracking. You need to spend another $300 on three trackers for Vive to get tracking of your hips and feet and that control method is only used in a very small number of games. Either can do it with a kinect, but it's pretty shit. With just the headset and controllers for either, you can walk around in the play space, crouch etc. and it knows how to interpret it, but it obviously won't know the actual position of your legs.

2 m * 2 m is pretty much the requirement to not feel constrained with any set up, and body tracking doesn't really affect this.

Rift tracks three fingers by capacitance in the buttons, so you can do a peace sign in real life, and it will mimic it in game because there's no finger on the grip or trigger. Vive can only do hand gestures by selecting them from the track pad. Tracking difference is essentially non-existent unless you have over about 3 meters from the sensors to the centre, then Rift probably won't be so good on the floor.

Rift is essentially the better option at the moment unless you want good full body tracking for VRchat or don't want to buy a Facebook product.

I think VR is training my body to generate some imaginary stimuli. It's most noticeable on the face; I can feel warmth if people are touching it in game. I thought about it earlier when falling asleep and could feel it then, too. With Musashi, the first bone is the whole breast with a lighter spot near the nipple area, the second bone being a light spot filling that and the third, added bone, is weighted to the top.
