The side effects that people are experiencing from VR are just fascinating. I haven't had that "dude I look at my hands all the time now" or "I wake up and try to use my controller" or w/e, but I do have the most annoyingly vivid VRchat dreams where especially on Friday nights it never feels like I logged off since the second I hit the pillow I'm back partying at the meetup.

The music, the atmosphere, the trippy journey up the rocks to get to the club, it's like an DMT trip without the DMT and is one of coolest experiences I've had in VR. The problem with the way we split Saturday is that 2/3 of the meetup went into private instances and weren't accepting invites, so the remainder got sad.

There were a few nights this week where we split the right way, with two or three friends+ rooms running concurrently.
I don't think invite+ rooms are necessarily bad, but the way things went down Saturday is probably not the best way to do it.

The friday night split is usually the best, you have the core dancing / jerk off group that meanders from one location to another with two dozen other people bouncing in and out between rounds of normie bottle / game maps / lewding, and because the night is just one long party people seem much more lax. Each group has core members who will always be in that group, and will be in charge of worlds/invites/etc while the rest are shallow members who can freely move between them assuming there's currently enough room.


So for example:

Red Group is in the spin the bottle room, that room is a max of 8 people, there is currently 6, that means they'll accept 2 more shallow members if needed.

Blue Group is over at the dance club, lets say that max is 16 people, and they have 16 people, that means no more room, so any remaining people will have to go to

Green Group who are at the avatar testing area, and have plenty of room to space.

We'd have to appoint several people as the core members of the group.

I think you're overthinking it. I think all that's really necessary is a few ground rules:
1. /vrg/ meetups use invite+; if you split off into private, you are leaving the meetup groups and should not advertise in thread.
2. Attendees should roughly adhere to world player limits; if numbers start getting too large either the meetup needs to move to a world that supports them or breakout into other sessions.
3. Meetups should report in thread when a new instances has formed and the activities they're up to. To this end, the person reporting in thread becomes a representative and should check the thread periodically for invite requests.

I don't know if there's anything else that comes to mind, but I just think we need to get over the notion of everybody piling into a single room all the time; we can populate a few instances very handily. Silliness with a large playercount can still occur, but we don't need it all the time.

Learning to weight paint is the better option. Paint it the same (or a little less if the dress is further away) as the part underneath, then you still might want to lower the painting on each individual dynamic bone. That way it'll move better with your body, but keeping the bones will allow it to flow.

Like I said, you probably want to lower the painting on the dynamic bones at that point. If your dyanamic bones have too heavy of painting, painting them to your legs alone does little to help you out.

I can help you out more if you know who I am namedropped earlier, but the basics of weight painting is to set your bones to pose mode so that you can select them individually as you weight paint, and set your mesh to weight paint mode, obviously.
Then, with the image:
1 - This is going to be your brush settings. Make the weight heavier where you want things to move, lower where you don't want them to move. You have to do this for each individual bone, which has a vertex group named after it.
2 - This is the vertex groups. If you don't want to select it with the pose mode, this is what you do to select the part where you want to paint.
3 - This is the visualization of your painting.
Red - heavy, Yellow - moderate-heavy, Green moderate-light, Blue - light, Dark Blue - none

Just understand that if you have two bones pulling at the mesh, it'll try to adhere to both bones, which is why you want to lower it on the dynamic bones and keep it heavy on the main bone.

Unless your avatar stands out somehow, you need to actively do something to get much attention. Just have a chat with someone, maybe make one little joke about something happening, have some sort of avatar animation, etc.. It doesn't need to be anything amazing, but if all you do is stand around and watch what other people are doing then there are always going to be other things going on that grab people's attention more.
If you're not even showing up in screenshots occasionally, then you're probably also staying too far away from whatever's happening. I'm not usually involved in the stuff that's interesting enough to get shared in the thread, but I'm usually close enough(to get a decent view of what's going on) that I inevitably end up in some of them. Alright thanks, I ended up finding it. But for my model, they wear a tunic. Would weighting the ends of the tunic to the legs stop it from flowing? Like would it just be stuck to the legs and stretch with them? I just want the thighs to not clip through the bottom of it

That doesn't do it on its own. My character has a tunic as well and I went through the same ordeal although, I like him better without dynamic bones; you're free to take a look anytime to see how my tunic moves..
What you'll want to do is paint each side of the tunic to its respective leg, making sure that the mesh underneath is painted exactly the same way. The legs a little higher maybe even to reduce them going through where it clips.
As long as you have painting connected to the dynamic bones, the script will make them flow as you move, so just try to add it 100% to the leg, then like 10~15% maximum to the dynamic bones. It should be a subtle flow if it's not draping down past your mid-thigh, especially since it's a tunic and not a skirt.

Tupper could you PLEASE help me fix this FPS bug? Sometimes when I take my headset off and put it back on, VRChat runs as if I've opened the Steam Overlay. When I open the Steam Overlay, the FPS fixes itself. When I close it again, it goes back to shit.
