Had a Vive for a while. Reconsidered once I heard about the price drop.
Reconsidered again when I found there are higher res headsets. Things could get real blurry on original Vive with text being a bitch to read. I would go for a Pro if HTC hadn't gone turbojew with the pricing with Odyssey literally half the price at the same res and with controllers.

One thing that was concerning was some videos say Steam VR was essentially bolted on so the Windows hub is also running constantly. Couple reviewers implied that would be eating up resources though I havent seen any tests to prove if it impacts performance vs a Pro.

Also there were complaints of bugginess, poor tracking and incompatability with steam vr games. But those reviews were 4-5months old. Has anybody had that experience or noticed an improvement since then?

Short explanation of full body tracking based on my own observations:

Full body is going to be different for everyone, based on their porportions and that of their avatar.
Mine matches up very close to mine (somehow)
The arms are the right length and my avatar's feet are only slightly below mine - so close that my anime feet feel basically "right" and I can even move my ankle.
As a result, I don't slouch. I bet that Sekko and Faith also match up closely with their avatars.

If I hold my controllers slightly lower than where my arms end, like letting them go and holding by the end of the controller rather than holding it properly, my avatar does the typical full body slouch.
The shoulder and back positions are determined by where your controllers are. If you arms are longer than the game expects it to be based on your avatar, then the controllers are lower than the game expects them to be, and you slouch.

The game modes are uplink where one team defends a satellite dish and the other has to get to it and send a code, the other(bad) is escort where one team member is a VIP and has to reach one of two extraction points without being killed by the defenders. There's also PvE modes where you have to kill up to 16 bots, or survive endless waves until a helicopter arrives.

are you using baked lights? i found that with default settings with baked mode lights the indirect lighting is so bright that it sends to wash out shadows as well. What I did was set indirect intensity to 0.5 in the light settings window, and also changed it on a per light basis depending on location for lights. Baking ambient occlusion also makes things look a little nicer.

It's not a performance issue I chose my wording poorly, it's bugs. I've been plagued for a while with an issue where I get start getting judder with ASW and to fix this, I need to flip the ASW setting in Oculus tray tool (I prefer ASW off as it makes my hands feel more responsive).
