All I did was texture paint using basic colors within blenders texturing tools. Just hand painted it.

The process I took was 3D model the character>Unwrap the UV's and Atlas them for easier management>Texture paint straight on the 3D model within Blender.

After I got what I could done, I loaded the image in Photoshop and made some adjustments on the edges of the UVMaps to hide the seams better and color balance it overall.

That's how I do it anyways, I find it easier if you can paint directly on the model rather than doing guesswork within Photoshop. Then again, the cleaner your unwrap of a model is, the easier time you'll have just painting straight in a actual painting program.

I'm trying to do a 7 second animation where I make shit launch into the air using rotation and position on something under my armature. If I disable Loop Time and set the wrap mode to Once then it just permanently stays in the air. Right now I have it set to Loop Time like I usually do with all my animation overrides, and for some reason it's just repeating this 7 second animation 5 times, and I can't stop it even when I stop holding down the gesture.

Can you just not have an animation that's more than 2 keyframes or something?

I think my black screen crashes were caused by Advanced Settings and having supersampling on. Turned it off and I ain't gotten a black screen crash since. Anyone know a way to fix this? It looks so much better with supersampling on and I only had it at 1.3x.

Alright, so I'm making some progress, but unfortunately the animation doesn't work. I put the animation component on the game object that I want to fly in the air, and put the 7 second long animation on that. Then I made an animation override that just turns the game object on. The new camera is nice, despite feeling like a rush-job with poor controls that was thrown in with the anti-crash update as a form of content. Its interesting because now you can check out your avatar in maps without a mirror, and you can even take shots of yourself from just about any angle or distance you want, pretty interesting and offers a lot more creativity in screenshots. Look for small, quick projects you can do to the avatar.
A simple texture edit, new shapekey, adding a hat to the avatar, new gesture overrides, that sort of stuff.

I find if I go too big I get swapped with the complexity of learning tons of new things. Keeping them small and quick helps me not only learn more but also more entertaining since I get a result out of it faster.

Are all the bones in the avatar supposed to have a roll of 0 in Blender? Or does that not matter?

Well part of it is that it's easy to find good looking MMD models to import, but they're mostly female.
The other part is that it gives you an excuse to be a girl in VR and experiment with your repressed gayness. It really is nice to learn more about yourself in a mostly consequence-free environment.

From what I understand with a quick look through the Steam discussions, it's something about the capture method using Win8+ Unity libraries. Since he's remaking the program from scratch for the third time now, this time without dependence on Unity, I'd hope that standalone version will support 7 as well.
