I've been having shapekey issues with one of the new avatars I uploaded. Usually this is because during one of my frankensteins one of the things I frankenstein'd over already had shapekeys on it which causes things to happen whenever a shapekey is activated (like your hair moves whenever you blink or something). But that doesn't seem to be the case here. I've run down all the materials and the only ones that have shapekeys on them other than basis are all the materials on the face like eye whites, eyebrows, the face itself, etc.

Is this right? Or should one of these materials on the face not have shapekeys on them? The problem actually is around my forehead, the skin clips through a bandana I have on whenever I blink, so it's gotta be something with the face but I don't know what.

I don't know if any of you guys can help but i'm trying to do the lighting in my VRchat world but I'm having troubles. I've got 2 directional lights, one is realtime and the other is static. The realtime one should only be lighting the player and pickup items but it seems to be doubling the tris of the rest of the world (walls,furniture etc) that shouldn't even be affected by it. I've set the culling mask of the realtime lighting to only affect player and pickup and I don't even see it doing any lighting on the rest of the world but the profiler still shows the doubled amount of tris, even when all the things it SHOULD be lighting are disabled. I hope that makes sense.
When I disable the realtime light it says 67k tris, but when I enable it it's now 142k tris even though I don't see any visual difference in game mode.

It kind of looks like the top of the skin by the hairline gets pulled down? You can probably just go into Edit Mode with that shapekey selected and see if they're out of place, and then pull the vertices back up into their normal position (roughly). That's probably the easiest, maybe not the cleanest solution.

If you want to try something (that I have NOT tested myself besides just briefly on a cube just now, so maybe make a backup first), with your newly moved vertices selected (and only those vertices) press space and type in Shape Propagate. It seems to take the position for those vertices and copy it to the other shape keys (?)

I'm really worried about models being bricked, especially with shape key fuckery, so please save backups...

I really needed to fix the little movements that occurs on my custom shapekeys and this reset the position for all those keys so I can start fresh again.

I actually use shape propagate a lot when I get scuffed vertexs.
I select the ones that are fucking up and flying off, then select the basis shape key, then use shape propagate to snap them back into place.

Of course if that vertex is involved with other shapekeys it'll cause more issues than it'll fix sadly.

Between holiday avatar editing, compiling together the video of last night's satanic monkey cult circlejerk, and more, my time is getting stretched pretty thin but I did promise I'd give a review on the VRCover now that I've used it for a week so here goes.

I got the Basic Rift VRCover version, it came with a ""vegan"" leather foam faceplate, and a cotton cover to go over it if you want. Initially I liked the cotton cover a lot, but after spending an hour with it in VRChat I realized it got too hot too quickly, it would chafe into my cheeks because the fit was a little too big, and the FoV (which I initially thought looked improved with the cover) is actually worse since it's covering up more of your vision. It's comfortable against your face and the material and build quality is nicer than the WidmoVR, but I'm not a huge fan.

The leather foam cover itself though is definitely the way to go and in my opinion it's easily the most comfortable out of all the different options I've tried so far (stock Rift foam, WidmoVR cover, VRCover fabric cover, and the leather foam). It feels nice, and it handles sweat very well. I was drenched in sweat from playing Beat Saber but never did I feel like the cover was getting too wet or uncomfortable or something. I thought it would get all oily because of how much I was sweating and having oil on your skin in general, but it still looks new. Honestly, I can't imagine playing Beat Saber without it.

The only downside to the cover is that because it's thinner than the stock foam, the nose gap is larger. If you play in the dark like me it's not a big deal, but if you're someone who absolutely hates the nose gap, you might not like the cover. Overall though, I do highly recommend the VRCover. The WidmoVR is a piece of shit, not just by comparison but in general. Don't waste your money on it.

Alright, so I figured it out. Despite those 4 shapekeys being there and being right under basis in blender, once I checked my body in Unity under the Skinned Mesh Renderer, they weren't there. The new model I just imported with re-done eyetracking and visemes does have it. I looked at the other avatar that has this issue and sure enough, those 4 shapekeys are missing there too.
