Serious question here though it's going to sound like i'm pulling your leg;
I have a dog with learning disabilities, he's the sweetest little thing you could ever wish to meet but he has trouble in his day to day life, he can't cope with meeting new people and he is also hard of hearing and has severe vision problems. I do my best to make sure that despite these issues he has the best life he can, I love him very much.
Unfortunately, he becomes very upset when I put on my oculus rift, I don't think he can recognize me as a person any more because of the lack of facial features for him to make out, this upsets him greatly.
Now I am not a particularly technically minded person so I apologise if this question is stupid but if I put eyes on the front of my rift headset would this interfere with the tracking? Does it have hidden IR LEDs dotted around the front plate?
I believe that putting a sticker of eyes on the headset will help my dog recognize it as a face and allow me to calm him down, if I am unable to calm him sufficiently it can trigger an epileptic seizure in him which is never fun.

Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Twisted Metal VR is my favorite, I've got about 650 hrs in it and unlike Onward, it's not a piece of trash mechanically. Only $15 and you can get it cheaper if you wait for a sale. The vehicular combat mechanics are fucking insane considering it was developed by 989 studios and they haven't developed a game since like, 2004. There's good weapon variety and the characters are pretty cool, they dropped the stupid faction bullshit and we have minion, dark tooth, and warthog as unlockable characters (after a play through/tournament win, not a fucking loot box or dlc character)

My favorite is Assetto Corsa. The VR support is pretty barebones, but it's fine once you're actually driving. I don't know how it is if you don't have a wheel though. I need to give Dirt Rally another shot too. I didn't like it as much as Assetto before I got VR, but it's supposedly great in VR.

to the person doing the leather boots, you can make them look that way in game and mixed lighting and baked GI will have an effect on them if you simply do a metallic map.

project cars 2 all the way. VR performance is way way up since the release. Has global challenges that can lead to real world prizes like trackdays with pros. Pros actually play though, so you have to be baller as fuck. The weekly time attacks are really nice though.
Game is pretty serious business though and you should have a wheel setup like a g27, and know how to configure the ffb properly.

I've thought about it, but I don't think it'd be that useful for actual music honestly, since all you get is note/on off and no velocity, aftertouch, sustain, etc.

If the trigger does work on individual avatars, I think it'd be more useful for doing more expression overrides than hand gestures allow. OSC is basically just a protocol over UDP, so you could for instance make a little esp8266-based board with buttons that sends OSC commands to your VR computer when you press them, and wear it on your body somewhere like on your wrist.

The rift does have IR LEDs dotted around the front plate, that's how the tracking works. However, it's obviously permeable to the black plastic, and it should be permeable to copy paper and ink as well if you printout your eyes/face to stick it to the front of your headset. Plus the LEDs on the back of the rift should still help, not all LEDs need to be visible.

indeed they did. The beta physics were all kinds of retarded but the game uses a physics simulator that is professionally licenced to real world racing simulators for professional drivers and teams to practice courses. It's spot on now, right down to tire heat and weather conditions.

if it fully supports midi it should actually be able to do some things like sustain, since you can select channel and technically duration. Midi controls can be used to do things like operate the tone, speed, and position of audio tracks using analog vinyl turntables. Dj Mixing boards are midi controlled which is what makes them universally compatible with things like Serato and virtualdj. There's a couple VR apps now that also play with this properly and interface with digital decks - I wonder if it supports note parameters that your keyboard is spitting out.

the flicker is caused by z fighting opaque materials on the same mesh. VRM shaders (mtoon) can be set to avoid this by setting which side renders, front back or both. For things that should be "blended" use fade or transparent, it's the only way to prevent that. So if you want your shiny to happen on top of another material that is opaque, choose fade.

Yeah. I'm using Bitwig Studio to do my audio routing into VRChat, so it should be about the same for Traktor if it supports ASIO audio, though I haven't used it myself.

Roughly speaking I use http://sar.audio/ on top of http://www.asio4all.org/ , which lets you make the same sort of virtual audio cables that other programs do, but in more arbitrarily complex fashion. So I have

Rift Mic ------------------\
MIDI In ------------> Bitwig ---> SAR input device ---> VRChat

MIDI In -> Rhodes VST ---------------------------------------\
VRChat Game sounds ---> SAR output device ---> Bitwig --> Rift headphones

Allows me to monitor my playing locally, but also speak through the mic without having to switch actual windows inputs in vrchat itself. Since your voice is going through bitwig, you can also do things like leveling, reverb, or voice changers if you're into that sort of thing.

I'll post a more detailed guide once I get back to my VR Computer.

You need some space, because when your graphics hardware switches to a lower resolution version of your texture when your avatar is far away (MIP mapping), downscaling can cause sampling error on the edges of your UV islands, thus causing artifacts on your model. That's why the margin that blender bakes has the same color stretching out from the edge, to avoid the sampling error.

The default of 16px in blender baking is good, but sometimes 24px is better for 2k textures. Try not to have the margins cutting into eachother is a good way to avoid artifacts.

A wider margin would help. You can also manually unwrap that part of the mesh to put the seam in a different less visible place. Like in tupper's megatutorial, he unwraps the usual bilateral seam down the center of the face to avoid the same issue. I personally wouldn't recommend unwrapping the face that way since it takes up a bunch of texture space when all you have to do is up the margin to avoid the same problem, but it is easier sometimes.

No. Consider this. How do you project a sphere onto a 2D surface without distortion and only a single vertex seam? You cannot. Any way you adjust the faces is just going to distort another part. When you introduce seams, you can reduce this distortion, because faces no longer have to be connected, however, the texture will now be broken up. In fact, if it's something like Tupper's face unwrap in the tutorial and you unwrap things that are symmetrical when they don't need to be asymmetrical, it's wasted atlas space which means lower resolution for your textures.

Not that anon but, if you manually place the seams smartly then yes it will unwrap nicely, but for example trying to unwrap a cylindrical shape like a neck without defining seams will likely unwrap the texture into a donut shape with the top of the neck in the inner ring and the bottom of the neck on the outside which is pretty terrible.

Also fun fact: unwrapping textures in their "purest form" is actually what auto atlasing does since it projects each individual face 100% flatly onto the UV map with 0 distortion. It's bad because it both leaves margins between each face which takes up a huge amount of wasted atlas space, resulting in low texture quality, and doesn't group the faces together logically, which leads to the edge artifacts you sometimes see. Efficient UV mapping/unwrapping is compromising between minimal distortion and maximizing texture space for important parts of the model.

As someone with the HTC Vive, I can say that I have no issues with any games when it comes to control mapping, while I have heard that Rift sometimes gets the short end of the stick. However, I have also heard that the Rift has less of the "screendoor" effect, it's cheaper, it doesn't support the full-body tracking, you have to buy a 3rd sensor for room-scale, you need more USBs, it looks like it has better exclusives, and I have no idea how the Oculus software works versus the Vive software. Best of luck, Anon. I'd just get a Rift and save the cash you would've spent on the Vive until VR technologies get even better and even cheaper.
