Because their solution is to have your motion controllers emulate mouse+keyboard input, which is completely absurd and should never have been the path they started down. VR mode should have been a completely new addition to how the game handles input but instead it is just bolted on over the top of what already existed and as you can see that is working just great.

Even if I can keep up I don't know how you fuckers actually get an S or higher rating. Unless I swing my whole arm I can't get above 80 or so and that's not always possible on the strings and switches or what not. The scoring system is goofy and unintuitive as hell.

let's say you never have to eat, or sleep & all social obligations are met. you can stay in VR as long as you want but in order to leave VR, you need to work a job for 8 hours to pay your debt to society

so you can stay in VR 24 hours a day every day if you like. if you want to leave VR, you have to work for 8 hours and then you get the rest of the day off. when you're outside of VR, you get more hungry / thirsty / sleepy but you dont need to eat or sleep as long as you're in VR.

FBT hardware will be integrated with haptics eventually, so you'll still need hardware anyway. Motion sickness only applies to people who have it. So it comes down to perfect voice changing vs. getting all your expenses paid for staying in VR. If the last one is universal, we could just toss most of the world's population in VR forever and have a successful eugenics program.

Here's the correct link to the Linux build of Unity editor. It's 5.6.3xf1 which is pretty much the same as the recommended 5.6.3p1. The difference being that the Linux version isn't [p]atched for an exploit on Windows. Instead it is e[x]perimental [f]inal build for Linux of that version of Unity. I've been using this for couple weeks now and I've had no major Linux specific problems. Only slightly scruffed menus or fonts in some parts of the UI.

I'm still running the VR setup on a dedicated Windows 10 box but do all the Blender and Unity stuff on my main laptop. Maybe at some point I can ascend to using this new Proton thing from Valve or GPU passthrough.

What do you mean bugging out? take screenshots. Are you doing collapse decimation in blender? Depending on the model, it's sometimes better to select the part of the mesh you want to decimate, separate to a new mesh (P), select all vertices, type space -> "tris to quads", and then apply the "unsubdivide" decimation modifier. A lot less destructive than collapse/planar, though it can't go as low.

oof m8. It's better to do it manually. Separate the part of the mesh you want to decimate, and apply the decimation modifier yourself. Also if you're below 65k tris on your model overall, stop right now and just bypass the 20k limit in the SDK. As long as you atlas, you're going to be more performant at 65k than 90% of the people on VRC anyway.

Some form of as-standard body tracking would be the best improvement to VR, I feel. It would eliminate a lot of awkwardness and confusion. Even a simple tracked point on the waist would eliminate body position problems almost fully.

Nope. The 20k limit is just a retard check. All the devs and tupper himself bypass it, and nobody ever gets b& for it. The performance difference between 20k and 65k is absolutely negligible as well.

However, 65k is a real limit, because if you go past it, the shit old version of unity that VRC uses will split your mesh into two and break all your shapekeys/visemes. You can still work around the 65k limit if you're smart about it, but it makes everything more difficult, so don't bother.

I'm not sure about the full list of sites it can handle, but YouTube and Dropbox both work fine. Recon drone is super useful, loud and dies in one hit, but flying super high in exchange for horrid visibility and leaving yourself defenseless means you basically have an eye in the sky, but is only available to recon- meaning you're stuck with the shitstick snipers
Bipod is the new meta for the machineguns, it reduces recoil to nothing, making them death lasers. Super cool and work well enough if my fucking right hand controller would keep tracking.
Other than that there's not much aside from the massive new map which I have yet to explore, but it's supposedly the largest one yet which means we need the Onward mod to go live again asap so we can crash everyone with smoke grenades again.
Performance improvements due to ik as well supposedly, but performance in Onward was always pretty good. Also the MK17 mags don't go in all the STANAG guns anymore.
