You either need a very cute Avatar or a very mom-like avatar that is nonlewd. In the first case you can simple walk up to people and stretch out your arms a bit until they hug. In the second one you can just walk up to cutie's and hug them forcefully until they like it.

I'm trying to do a manual atlas but have trouble getting this collar to have its proper white texture. It has no transparency, and I already fixed that for the eyes. Everything else seems to work fine.
What might I be doing wrong?
>>229719223
have you tried to see if it fixes itself in unity?
>>229719223
Are the collar UVs on the atlas itself? If you have the UV editor open in another window and select the collar in edit mode in 3d view, it should highlight the uv island on the atlas.
>>229720512
I think it's that tiny orange dot on the right.
>>229721289
On the UV screen, press G with the verts selected (like you already have) and drag the tiny orange dot to the white part of the texture.
>>229719754
I haven't looked into how to import it into Unity yet, but started a new Unity project, imported the .fbx and Noe Noe's shader, added the shader as a component and then it looked like this.
I think the eyes might be wrong, too.
>>229721289
The atlas tool might've just messed it up then. You can use the Paint mode in the UV editor to just paint that spot white. Or if you want you can hit U in 3d view edit mode -> Unwrap -> and get a new island, drag to an empty part of the atlas and paint it white.

Same thing, check that the part of the texture on the atlas is what you expect, and if not, sometimes you can fix it manually by painting or moving the UVs to a matching color.
You can open a second copy of blender on your original file to compare how it should look.
namedrop anons who are ruining their future by doing nothing but play VR all day
>>229721385
I dragged the dot onto a white part and the collar properly looks white now.
For the long term, I think I should try >>229721462 though.
Also, I'm really not sure that's how the eyes are supposed to look. I think that shine should be purely white, instead of that white-black-grey to the left of that orange thingy.
(Forgot the image.)
>>229722396
Yeah. Ideally you should unwrap the collar again (not with atlas, but manual uv unwrap). Seems like atlas didn't manage to do it. I have similar problems usually with sphere shapes because they weren't cut open, so atlasing didn't know how to unfold and flatten them, so they just became a single dot.
If you just intend to keep the collar as single-color, it can remain as a dot-shape in the UV map.

For your new igloo thing , you can add a mesh collider to it, or add box colliders and drag them roughly to fit the mesh. The VRCWorld prefab component by default sets the spawn to its own transform so it's easiest just to position that. but you can also set a different spawn point in the spawn list.

Pimax 5k will probably have a lot of weird problems once it gets released in a couple months. Plus you will need a top-of-the-line GPU to even render that many pixels at 90fps anyway, since no foveated rendering.
Vive is unfortunately not actually Valve, but instead manufactured by HTC, another shitty chink company. However, it's been on the market for a couple years so you know what to expect. Personally I'd get a rift or WMR instead, but the vive is still a good 1st headset. If you're looking to get into VR, now is a fine time. real 2nd gen headsets won't be out until 2020ish.

It's not cross eye dominance. That's where the opposite eye to the dominant hand overrides the image. Weak, dominance is where you can equally clearly see the back of the gun through the right eye and the front through the left, so aligning these two images doesn't work. The only way I've found around it is to hold the gun diagonally and cross sight it with the right arm blocking the right eye, so there can't possibly be a right eye image.

I wonder how one is able to progress from Hard to Expert in Beat Saber other than just practice?
Like Hard is very tough as is. I think I've only managed to get a B grade on one song. Mostly I've managed a few Ds and Cs, but I try out a few Expert levels and I'm just overwhelmed at how crazy blocks are flying at me with loads of directions and cross-overs.
The most intense song I've managed to beat on hard is Mortal Kombat just now. Is expert just the point where you have to microanalyse each track to know exactly what's coming up and how to handle it?

I agree with the sentiment though. Oculus is probably going to focus on the quest/go and leave PCVR hardware as is until 2020. We'll get the benefit of better games/software in the meantime, which is honestly what we need more of, more than gen1.5 hardware upgrades.

FWIW, it's not like emuVR does anything that special. Existing console emulators, with output piped into a CRT shader using unreal/unity engine, with some basic physics sim on the cord and buttons on the physical (virtual) console. You can almost do the same in bigscreen VR + emulator right now, just missing the aesthetic.
>>229748187
It's going to be a damn shame if Oculus puts off FBT until 2020.
Though with their move towards inside out tracking, they might not go for FBT at all, which would make more sense.
Personally, I'm more excited for WMR than Oculus lately. It seems to really be hitting its stride, with aggressive price cuts and a second wave of WMRs already in the works from Samsung and Acer. Microsoft is stupid if they don't work on expanding the capabilities - it wouldn't be so difficult for them to enable outside in tracking of the controllers via external webcams to eliminate the blind spot, since it's all done via LED constellation in the visible spectrum... from there, FBT via simple LED bracelets or integration with Kinect skeleton tracking wouldn't be a very big step. Microsoft seems more fixated on the Hololens and AR, though, so who knows how much love they'll give WMR.

Oculus' chief scientist mentioned at the end of the day 1 keynote that "hand haptics is 5 years away", and didn't even mention body tracking. Looks grim for a first-party oculus body tracking solution, even in 2020. They'll likely focus on the display for 2nd gen though. He talked a lot more about foveated rendering and varifocal and pixel depth. As well as some interesting audio processing HRTF stuff for sound immersion. Which I think is an underrated part of VR. Getting the sounds to feel real can really increase immersion.
If oculus surprises us with any sort of body tracking, I bet it'll be camera-based, Kinect-style. There's a lot of research work out there using machine learning to capture 3d pose from regular RGB cameras. and I'm sure using RGB-D IR cameras will be a lot more robust than kinect currently is too, with ML.
>>229734920
Yeah I know HTC isn't directly Valve, but Oculus is directly Facebook, which is more concerning to me. WMR puts me off because I do really want roomscale, and I have the space for it. Plus the fact that the controllers need to pass in front of the headset from time to time in order to track seems like it could be a pain in some cases.
I appreciate the reassurance with regards to when second gen is coming, that's about when I was planning on, and even then I don't mind using an outdated headset for some time into that generation. At least, assuming second gen doesn't utterly obsolete first gen.
Plus >>229738140 has a good point with regards to Vive accessories which I have been looking at.
>>229750073
I like the idea of fbt that is cheap on hardware but heavy on cpu because I have all these cores I'm not using with most vr games and they could be doing something useful like tracking my body
Rapidly changing hardware revisions is a fucking NIGHTMARE for software developers. Independant teams and small projects can keep up and change to suit but AAA titles aren't nearly agile enough to keep up with the constantly morphing VR platform that we currently have.
If Oculus keep the CV1 until 2020 and then release a new model with new features that'll be okay but with the three major platforms racing through revisions as fast as they can it's fucking suicide to try and make a fully fleshed out AAA title from the ground up for VR.
So at best we're getting existing games that they can tack VR into and it'll be this way until things calm down.
>>229749543
Normie accessibility is the dream for the businesses in the VR market. Without normie money, it's all ogre.
Once the critical mass is there, I think there'll be striation between casuals (standalone and console VR), normie (console and basic PC VR), and power users (FBT, haptics, VR holes, and everything else)
>>229750073
Foveated rendering and eye tracking are definitely top concern for everybody. That alone will drop VR hardware requirements down to the point where normies can jump into it without stressing about their specs, as long as they bought a "gaming" PC.
Considering the CPU overhead for any kind of camera-based FBT, I'm skeptical of its acceptance, but on the other hand, CPUs are only getting more powerful with time, and most VR is GPU limited anyway. I could see them going either way, but for now, I think they're all more worried about developing a bigger market in general - FBT users are a small subset of the already small VR market.
>>229750249
/vrg/'s concerns about WMR controller tracking are overstated. I use a hybrid setup of the Samsung WMR + Lighthouses and 3x trackers. I also have Vive dongs, but prefer the WMR controllers over them because of the vastly superior ergonomics. There are limitations in the tracking, but they generally do a good job even outside of the tracking area using accelerometers and gyroscopes to dead reckon their position.

>>229751321
Pretty easy
>>229750856
>Considering the CPU overhead for any kind of camera-based FBT, I'm skeptical of its acceptance
It's worth noting that the research-quality NN-based algorithms for tracking body pose with cameras usually run on the GPU anyway. And you could add a processor to the hypothetical FBT camera hardware itself, instead of offloading to the actual host CPU.
I just don't see normies strapping pucks to their feet and charging them every 4 hours any time soon, nor do I see a company successfully marketing trackers to normies in that way. I can definitely see a Kinect V3 showing up though, with some VR or AR integration. The Xbox part of microsoft is undoubtedly working on some VR thing to combat PSVR, so maybe as part of that offering.
>>229751321
Pretty much the same as setting it up with Oculus. Google it, it's just an ini edit and OpenVR input emulator.
>>229750073
To be honest I'm not too concerned about Oculus not developing body tracking (assuming they aren't, but we can't assume that, in fact we can probably assume they are working on it as well as everything else, but maybe aren't concentrating as much into it as they are more important things). I'm not concerned because we now already have a working method of using two different tracking systems together. If lighthouse were cheaper, then you could just get that for body tracking. Unfortunately it's not cheap but hopefully god damn it Valve, it gets cheaper. If you can get FBT for $100 or less one day, that's when it'll start mattering for developers I think. I will also be happy if we can get it that cheap.
>>229750856
>I use a hybrid setup of the Samsung WMR + Lighthouses and 3x trackers.
honestly I think what it comes down to for me personally is that Vive is one package with no extra fuckery in that instance
I don't want to buy a WMR and vive lighthouses and fuck around with that.
I dunno I guess I'm willing to be lazy at the cost of less quality. Same justification for consoles or prebuilt PCs, right?
Don't forget that the kinect is jam packed with parts and shit it doesn't need and doesn't use when used for FBT, if they released a kinect-based tracker solution for FBT it'd be half the size and probably a noticeable bit better.
And then you just get two and fucking "oculus camera" it (One in front of you, one to the side) for effortless no-recharge no-puck 360 FBT.
>>229751975
>hip flies into space

>>229751701
It'd be a lie if I said there were no quirks, but all it is that I have to use the auto-calibrator once in a while to recalibrate one of my trackers against one of my WMR controllers. It doesn't take more than a minute, and the initial setup didn't take more than a couple of hours, including putting lighthouses on my walls and running the sync cable and all.
>>229751975
The only part of the Kinect you don't need for FBT is probably the microphone. In any case, it'd still struggle with limb rotation.
>>229752216
Happens with pucks too.
>>229751701
It's worth noting that FBT's only practical use is VRChat. If you can see yourself spending hours in VRChat (like most of the rest of us), easier FBT is a serious consideration for getting the vive.
If you think VRChat is some gay anime shit though, you should strongly consider WMR or rift over vive. They're both cheaper kits on their own, so even if knuckles comes out and it's amazing and now you want a vive, you're not out a lot of money. Remember that though oculus is facebook, they've still got carmack, and that autist will do you right. You're not going to be able to dodge the botnet entirely if you want to play VR games anyway, so pick your battles wisely.

As far as I see it, Carmack, and Facebook, are really trying to do what will make VR the most successful in the future (and in turn, be successful for their wallets in the long term, even though it's a money sink in the short term). Watch some of Carmack's talks, and you'll get an idea for all of the internal debates and logic that goes into their decision making process. I don't think shareholders have such a high influence yet on this, where VR is seen only as a long term research thing for now. The impact to Facebook's financials Oculus had was quoted as basically trivially small at earnings calls so that could explain why shareholders don't care much about it just yet.

>>229753738

Carmack has principals, and he sure doesn't need the job to live. I trust that if facebook starts making oculus do some cartoon villain shit like uploading all your camera/sensor feeds to their servers, he'd be long gone by that point.
I dunno man, facebook is a bizarre company. Their meddling in current oculus affairs seems minimal beyond funding at this point. You can still sign up for an oculus account with fake name and email (and you should), no facecuck stuff required. If it starts getting heavier, I'll jump ship, but for now I put up with it for the best 1st gen VR hardware available currently, just like I put up with using windows 10 for gaymes. Did I sell my (fake name and email) to facebook for vidya? Yes, but at least I don't have to use HTC's dildo controllers.

Of course it will, but that will be one day in the future when VR has finally become mainstream, and by then we should have many more options on the market that will be not much better or worse, as well as standards so that we can use a lot of hardware and software interchangeably. It should be reasonable that one wouldn't have to use Oculus/Facebook to get the best experience. But if they do happen to still be the leading platform or have advantages that really make them worth it, what I'd do is be wary of advertisements. That's what makes them money and how their data on the user makes them money. If there aren't advertisements, then we're probably still good. As soon as the get advertisements, that's when things change.

Open source? While I'm all for that, it's not necessary. It's important, but not necessary in the sense that it doesn't matter for the vast majority of end users and won't have an impact on smart users who opt for minimal exposure to platforms that do advertising. I think I have some basic but good understandings on this, because, as you might know, privacy matters not because you're hiding something but because it has an impact on human behavior, like the observer effect.
I think people are overall a little too pessimistic about the future of privacy in VR (and ironically that might be a reason why it might turn out better than expected). It's fairly obvious that privacy will be a big problem in future VR/AR/MR headsets, because of eye tracking and etc, so obvious that even dumb normalfags would be concerned (obviously they wouldn't know the true societal and behavioral impacts it might have, but they'll realize it's kind of really damn risky to be giving that data away). So what I'm saying is that, hopefully, and realistically, I think it's going to be more likely that VR will be scrutinized more closely and have more stringent privacy restrictions put on it than most previous tech.
Especially when Facebook is at the head of things right now. If there's anyone people are most suspicious about, it's them.

I don't plan to become any sort of known quantity in this general.
I've done that once and only once in any general I've been a part of, and it was probably the worst decision I ever made.
Thanks though.

Full body is really nice if you spend a lot of time in VRchat. That said, you can make the vive pucks work with any headset. It's just more expensive if you don't go vive.
You can also get a cheap but much less effective full body setup involving kinect.

Look dude, I thought the same thing about the other general that I was part of, and it turned out real nasty. Just a lot of really miserable drama from really fundamentally terrible people.
It's just not worth it for me to become invested in a "community" again. I'm glad you enjoy it, I'm sure it's a joy for most people involved, but I decided long ago it's just not really my scene. I'm happy to hang out on anon but that's how it'll stay for me I think (read: hope)

I sure there's some snarls of actual drama around here, but 90% of the shitflinging in this thread is by a few bored people who want to imagine vrg is locked in some epic emotional struggle about everything and anything and co-author stupid fanction about it here. Just report and hide the posts, and enjoy the chill meetups, screenshots and streamables, and other VR game groups.

Doubt it, seems like they want to work on the engine itself as first priority for the 'sequel'. Not sure why they're bothering to make another build on it anyway and relabeling it as such, sounds scummy. Somehow I'm not surprised since crowd-funding and Paetron are things these days.

How do I get good at Pavlov?
Hey dudes semi VR newfag here. What is the deal with VR streaming? ie is it possible to get a VR camera and host the stream on VRchat or something? What kind of uplink would I need?
>>229762701
Every homo has an ebin discord server.
>>229762713
Bagette-chan I'm aiming for you
>>229762831
Pro-tip: don't be a streamer.
You can't host it on vrchat though you can on twitch or youtube etc. You can use screen capture to record your desktop which seems to work better than fucking about to get it to record the screen of your headset properly.
>>229762728
Just @pavlov in the discord and set up a game then post the details in the thread. Everyone is very helpful if you ask. Find a gun you like and practice with it. Once you're competent with it then diversify into other kinds of guns.
>>229762989
True. True.
Then again I've only been to the first few worlds on the list. The most popular places, so it would seem sort of likely.
People regularly bump into each other in their regular lives afterall. Such coincidences are perfectly regular even if they feel irregular.

>>229762124
reminds me of that anon that got assblasted and made his avatar fat
>>229763704
>360° video stream as a vr world
You mean the people watching can use their headsets to look around 360 degrees from your point of view? I don't think so because it doesn't render things outside of your line of sight.
>>229763650
he's 15 years old
>>229763854
No I mean using a 360° camera and using that to generate a world. So like I set the camera up in my lounge and other anons could hop into my virtual world, does that make sense?
>>229764057
You want to scan the current state of a room and make a 3d model of it? Or do you mean some kind of live thing?
>>229764189
A bit of both maybe, use the 3d camera and scan the room, setup parameters like walls and scaling and then overlay the live feed on top of that so that people can join onto you and experience the whole environment.
>>229764057
You can playback 360 video in a panosphere from youtube, there's a demo in https://github.com/jetdog8808/JetDogs-Prefabs. If you have some sort of 360 camera, you could probably stream it via youtube, then point your world panosphere at it. Would need a lot of upload bandwidth though to stream it at a reasonable resolution though.
>>229764189
I think what he means is like:
Live video feed from his 360 degree camera in his room mapped onto the wall of a circle room so like anons could look around and seeing him in his room doing shit.
Thats how I would see it working kinda.
>>229764373
I mean, that's possible I guess
>>229748131
It was always too good to be true
>>229764529
Yes this is exactly what I want, it wouldn't have to be a circular room though I don't think
>make an onward video
>cursor in the middle of the screen

>>229753145
Searching around, some guy made this 2 years ago
https://youtu.be/nsmU3V_DUrc
Just unity + oculus API.
>>229765021
It would be pretty neat.
You could even make it like a game too. Wear an earpiece and listen in to anons in the room try to direct you to do stuff. Sort of like an old adventure game.
Hide some stuff in the room and have them try to dIrect you to find it. Every mistake they make they have to do a shot of booze or something
EmuVR is impressive for the way it handles multiplayer, just join the room and pick up a controller from a machine, it all gets mapped correctly.
In the middle of a run? Throw the controller to your friend and have them play for a minute.
That's the implementation that was special.
>>229765398
But does EmuVR actually exist? How do the controls get mapped to the actual VR controllers? There are only so many buttons on there. Worse if you're on the vive dildos.
>>229765392
I think it would be maximum comfy of you could stream like a bus or boat going along and anons can come chill with you in a vr replica.
