It only scratches them if you're not careful. Yes, I'd get the lenses as soon as I possibly could, but I was lazy and already scratched mine a little bit so now I don't even bother worrying about it. Supposedly I can fill the scratch but even the big one ive got only looks like the lens is slightly dirty when I'm wearing it. It's no worse than having dirty glasses. If your glasses are dirty you probably won't even notice that you've scratched the rift.

Well, you can't really fix the tracking due to the nature of it being headset oriented as opposed to external sensors.

Honestly as long as you don't forget that the headset does the tracking you're good to go. The controllers need to be seen by the headset at all times. They do have a decent FoV but in general it gives you less freedom than the other headsets will. (Rift/Vive).
Either way the first time you try out VR you're gonna be amazed no matter what, there's a chance you'll get motion sick too but that's just a matter of adapting to it.

Tracking on WMR is done through cameras on the headset. Tracking is fine when they can see your controllers, but it'll stop tracking if they're out of sight for too long. It doesn't really bother me most of the time, and it's not anything that'll break most games, but it's annoying when you do notice it.

Well technically there are plenty of accessories you can 3d print if you have access to a 3d printer, but most people probably don't hace access to one. Plus you can't 3d print fucking foam for the faceplate.

The price is mostly it. As far as experience, oculus rift, htc vive, and the WMR headsets (lenovo, samsung, etc) will all give you the "flagship" PCVR experience and game compatibility, e.g. beat saber, pavlov, VRC, the stuff you see played in the thread. Anything else won't (gear VR, oculus go, cardboard, oculus DK2, PSVR, etc at least not without a lot of hacks). Between WMR/rift/vive, there are advantages and disadvantages to each, but they're minimal in comparison, thus price is a big factor. Better to save on a comparable headset and put the money towards a better CPU or GPU instead.

The cheapest you want to go right now is the lenovo explorer WMR, at $180 at walmart I think. Next is the samsung odyssey+ which is $300. Make sure it's the odyssey+ though, the original odyssey (non-plus) is also selling at $300, which although it's still a good price, the plus is better. Next is the rift at $350 (or $315 with referral apparently). This is all in the US though. If you're not murrican, vive may actually be cheaper for whatever, and then it's a fine buy.

Yeah, the odyssey+ comes with controllers. Also WMR works with steamVR officially, and can unofficially work with oculus-exclusives too with revive. I have rift personally, but I buy all my VR games on steam. I like the rift hardware, the zucc ain't getting any more of my money than necessary. I assume it's the same with whatever WMR "store" thing there is. Sticking with steam is fine.

Alright guys, my Oculus Rift has arrived so I'm almost ready to start getting into this whole new world.

Sadly though, I made the mistake of joining the army, so my living space consist of a single room in the barracks, granted it's a longer than normal room so that's nice, but at the end of the day it is still a single room so it's my space is limited.

Anyone here also have to play in a limited space? Trying to figure out how I should set my own Oculus up. On another minor note SteamVR and Oculus don't seem to working together all that well, SteamVR just says that no headset or area trackers are set up, but that's an issue for later. But yah thought about possibly rearranging my room, but I feel like it would be difficult to free up space

Yeah, I went back to see what it was like a few years ago. It's sort of fun to mess around with for a while, but it's just not the same at all. Also still salty at how trivial they made dynamis when I spent nearly 4 full years building my relic weapon in the original game.
I still think it has the most engaging lore/worldbuilding and story of any FF game I've played, mainly the full Zilart-Promathia arcs.
I have some extremely misplaced high hopes for the mobile port, probably due to nostalgia.

My room is roughly 3x3 meters including double bed, desk, chair, chest of drawers, and a nightstand. Tipping my bed on its side against the wall and moving the chair in front of the door is enough to give me a 2x2m space to play vr in. Late nights I often throw my bed back on the floor and lie down on it because full body. I don't know about oculus apparently wanting both sensors looking in the same direction but my vive works fine in this space. If you move that couch out of the way then you'll have more than enough space.

Steam vr support for WMR headsets is the worst but generally all games can at least be attempted. Not really. It might be possible to run the playstation headset on pc with hacky tools but don't plan on it. VR support is riddled with workarounds and frustrating troubleshooting with even the dedicated pc headsets let alone hacking a console headset into steamvr or whatever.

The PSVR is a true fully-featured current gen headset, though, even if the specs are a bit lighter than a rift or vive. There's a few nice exclusives on that platform and you probably won't regret it.

If you have a PC that can run VR but you can't afford more than 180 euros, shop around for a windows mixed reality headset. The cheapest deals are all in america but there's gotta be a few on discounts somewhere in euroland in that price range.

Read both txt to install and not get autobanned. Use at your own discrection anyway, because client modifications is banneable.
B key toggles interplayer dynamic bones, D key disables every dynamic bone. VRChat's window need to be the active one while pressing the key. There is a bug where you need to retoggle interplayer dynamic bones to collide with changed avatars or players that joined later.

So I have my Oculus home set up and already played robo recall so I know it works for the most part, but when I tried to install SteamVR, Steam says none of my shit is plugged in so I can can't continue with the steam setup. My trackers are plugged into the 3.0 USB but my headset is plugged into the back which I believe are 2.0, and while USB's might be an issue it's not even recognizing my controllers. Did anyone else have this issue setting up Oculus on Steam? Like it should be super straight forward yah?

I picked up an Odyssey+ the other night as well, to upgrade from my existing regular Odyssey (since I'll probably break it before next gen VR anyway)
Observations: I think the old Odyssey fit a bit more comfortably on my head, the new one doesn't make contact with my cheekbones at all, putting all of the weight on my forehead. The new Odyssey has one microphone, instead of 2 - but after dialing the volume in just right, most people seem to not notice any difference in how I sound.
The new Odyssey has fabric instead of pleather for the padding, making it feel a bit less sweaty.
Pixel gap on the new Odyssey is nearly impossible to see. I can barely make pixels out on light surfaces, mostly on sharp edges against black backgrounds - otherwise, the screen door effect is nearly imperceptible. On the old one, it was noticeable, but significantly less obvious than on the Vive or Oculus.
Haven't noticed any differences in tracking or controllers, both of which seem identical.

The headset its self is a very good upgrade, and the headset tracking is no worse than Rift. The controllers are a downgrade both ergonomically and in tracking.
If you don't mind getting a bit weird, you could hybrid a Samsung headset with Rift controllers and then add Vive pucks for good measure
It depends on how much you hate SDE, I guess. I wouldn't recommend you go and run out to get one unless your Rift is on its last legs or you just don't care about spending 300 bucks.

I know we shouldn't base too much off of tuptup's offhand comments, but he was talking about knuckles implementation a few days ago and said they were looking into having two modes that you can switch between with a button press in vrchat.
One would be raw finger tracking, which would work as you expect with knuckles. (I think?) they hadn't decided on if this mode would be able to activate gestures, because it would be a bit finicky.
Second would be mimicking the current system. Make a gesture, and it activates that animation but it isn't tracking your fingers raw the rest of the time.
