Going to be hosting another "The Forest" play-through tonight, indeterminate time. From what I have gotten from the gameplay in VR, The Forest is a wonderful game to be ported to VR. I tried out Subnautica and it was absolutely shit, but in comparison this was much better. You can jab enemies in the face with a spear just as fast as you can jab with minor cooldown. Aiming with VR is amazing, the bow allows you to accurately pop cannibals and other enemies from a distance. Seeing armsies or whatever they are called in VR is great too, they are so intimidating but you have this feeling of "I need to kill that or its going to kill me". Loving the game so far, this is the kind of shit that makes me feel like VR was a good investment. Best feature by far, you can do stupid shit with your arms and the IK is shown to other players. Definently going to be hosting another game of it tonight, debating starting new or using the current save, might use a strawpoll if it comes down to it as cringy as that is.

TLDR: Forest is fucking great in VR, desktop and VR users can play together and have strengths and weaknesses alike. Playing again tonight.

Exploring these caves in VR is a wonderful spooky experience. Don't think VRChat has enough horror maps that can capture the type of atmosphere that this kind of game produces, sure if there was more effort put into it they could do it too.

Rules:
Closed Hand - You won't be able to see your opponents cards
Sudden Death - For the knockout games only - If the game ends in a draw, a sudden death occurs in which a new game is started but the cards are distributed on the side of the colour they were on at the end of the game.
Deck Builder - Fully randomised decks are disabled. You have to pick your cards which will consist of 2 bronze cards, 1 silver card, 1 gold card and a choice of either gold, epic or a randomised legendary card. If you want to get some decks planned out you can use the link to the world below.

Tournament format:
Group Stage - There will be 4 groups to start with, each group will get their own board to play their games on. You will play a single game against each person in that group. A win will give you 2 points, a draw will give you 1 point and a less will give you none. 2 players with the most points in their group will proceed to the Knockout Stage.
Knockout Stage - All knockout games will be best of 3. The 8 qualifying players will play in the quarter finals, the 4 winners continuing to the semi finals. The 2 winners of the semi finals will move on to the finals and the 2 losers will then play against each other for third place before the finals.

Very much so yes. Shit was real neat when it started though VR support had always been poor. They developed it desktop first and then tacked on VR which was a terrible mistake. For a time there was some real neat stuff in there. I remember stumbling into a cripple chan web ring while fucking around in VR there once some weird stuff there.
Also nothing has ever replicated the feeling of the dot matrix world that shit was beautiful. I'd love to see it recreated in a more stable game.

The most mandatory mod is the one that fixes spatial audio. Beyond that, the VR itself is a tacked on mod for the SE, sold as a standalone full price game. So any mod for the SE still generally works.
You're probably going to have more fun with a magic or archery based build than melee however, so good to look for mods that further enhance those play styles.

I posted in last thread about a performance problem, and I've since solved it. If anyone cares, it was a virus, probably embedded in some pirated software.
Basically what it does is wait for the PC to be idle (no mouse and keyboard input), then starts hogging the CPU and GPU. But since VR gives the appearance of being idle, it would run during my VR sessions, probably mining bitcoins or something.
It appeared as mint.exe in the process list, and disappeared as soon as I moved the mouse. Might want to check your shit if you a pirate.

It doesn't manage dimensions of the atlas very well. You'll end up with some very strange dimensions that aren't power-of-two, especially from MMDs. Usually something like 4096x6142 or something stupid.

If you're doing stuff quick, do the auto-atlas. If you're making one for your own use, take the time to re-unwrap/arrange the UVs and bake the textures.

For ultra-tryhard, take the model into Substance Painter afterward and bake an AO map (and a thickness map, if you want to use Xiexe's subsurface scattering properly). You can bake these in Blender but they don't look as good as Substance's.

The Forest is great. Use the fully upgraded modern axe and you can stunlock any given cannibal and kill them in 3-4 hits. get the modern boy and at least bone arrows and you can fuck up 3-4 mutant monstrosities like you're taking out the trash. It's even more satisfying to run up to them and peel all your arrows out of them when't they're an inch from death, then finish them off with a final flamin' arrow. So fun. And that's not even mentioning the death traps you can construct in creative/buildhack mode.

Needs more content tho, really feels like they went 1.0 so they could stop having to develop it so much but the VR mode is better than Bethesda's and Subnautica

Hello /vrg/, today I have newly published research for you on the latest in VR facial expression tracking. This uses various sensors including electrodes, and machine learning.

The performance seems OK, but could definitely be better, but as far as I know, this is probably the best so far that we have gotten from an electrode system integrated into a VR headset, and without a mouth facing camera stuck on. The performance may not be as good or provide as great data compared to one with a camera, but it may be necessary when we get smaller headsets where we couldn't stick a camera far enough out to capture a good view of our mouth.

They're silicon and actually have a couple designs. The next design ditches the skin and just wraps around the edge of the controller hole and goes into the strap notch in the back. They work really well for beat saber and everything else, and you don't need the wrist straps for quick things which is really nice.

they're not out yet but were made by a company that makes a headset and controller recharging stand I have contact with from china. I'm currently doing QA on them.
