what the fuck did he even say?
What sort of a grip do you recommend for Beat Saber with Vive dildos?
If I hold them normally they tend to begin slipping off until I'm holding them by the tips.
I manage to keep a steady grip by holding and constantly pulling on the triggers, that way the controllers don't slip but I think it might make it a bit harder to do things with my wrists.
I also tried holding the controllers from the rings at the top but then the sabers become a bit shorter.

Speaking of VR racing, I hope many of you bought project cars 2?

Oh, they did mention it when they dropped a portal elsewhere, and asked "what about anon?", when I had woken up.
>>240424176
this wheel really isn't so great but yes, you can get it working on pc.
you really should get pcars 2 or dirt rally, AC is poorly supported.
>>240424176
>>240431927
to get that wheel working you need to run it through a converter or replace it with a brooks controller.
The converter increases latency a bit.
if you can find a thrustmaster or cheap g27, go for it.
You can also DIY a racing wheel with some very cheap parts, a real steering wheel like a cheap one from amazon for ricers, and a adreno, which is the best way to do it for building purpose built sim rigs, but there's a lot of gear out there.
I'm a bit of an old pro at this stuff, it's a fun hobby, let me know if you have any questions.
Even eurotruck simulator has a huge vr following.

>found MMD models that I really like on a Japanese website
>no idea how to rig them or do anything
Boy do I love being a brainlet haha
>>240434241
Pcars2 actually requires a bit of setup initially, but it IS a far superior game once you dig into it. Plus the lobby system is amazing and physics almost to the point of iracing.
The main thing being cockpit vr viewport reset hotkeys and making sure you're aligned right.
One thing about pcars 2 that is really fair is the fact that they award points based on how realistic you drive the sim, like forced cockpit, no assists, no driving line, no digital hud, and wheel, 5 speed shifter, proper clutch, ignition button, and having to use the car's actual gauges.
Plus they maintain real world tournaments and challenges. The performance is completely fixed now, which is nice too.
>>240434552
Baby steps.
It's probably already rigged. You just have to be familiar with the skeleton/armature for editing in Unity.
>>240434552
mmd models come pre-rigged. All you need is Cat's blender plugin and blender 2.79.
The steps are so handheld these days that almost anyone can do it.
>>240434845
Not the anon you responded, but I did that to my MMD models but I cant fucking export the model after running cat's fix. I press export but no file appears to the set folder.
>>240434552
also which site? you may want to check vrcmods or some other places to make sure they are not already done for you, basically all of the half decent "surface level" mmd models are already in vrchat now.
This is why we're infected with tda clones
>>240435082
thats... weird. Run blender as admin and make sure cats is up to date. If not, dump your install of cats and get the latest dev version.
Also make sure the folder you're sending your model to is the folder you think it is. "export" should bring up a dialog.
>>240435082
One thing my friend had tons of issues with was blender saving files to really odd places - it was saving to his flash drive by default for some reason. Might be worth searching around for the file extension.
>>240435213
>>240435396
I downloaded the latest versions just few days ago. I made sure several times that the export folder is what I want it to be, but it refuses to work. I don't even get dialog after pressing export, it just closes the export window.

>>240434747
The lobby and VR support are better, and performance is fine. My biggest problem is just that it doesn't feel as natural through the wheel as AC does to me. I've done a lot of tweaking to the FFB settings, but I still can't get it to feel right. Maybe I just need to keep messing with it though.
>>240434832
>>240434845
>>240435213
I've checked vrcmods for them but didn't find anything. When y'all say that MMD models are generally already rigged, does that include things like physics for capes and hair (dynamic bones I think) like for this model?
>>240436237
No, but applying dynamic bones is extremely easy . We're talking about clicking one button and putting in 4 values.
gonna be hosting an assetto corsa server today at 6 pm pst, 9 pm est. will be hosting the drift map with cars from the japanese pack as a test. if we have enough people who join we can switch maps and do some real races
>>240436372
Well, time to dust off the ol' g27.
>>240436151
Oh, that can be easily fixed for sure! AC just has a better default default profile for 900deg wheel, PCars2 is tuned based on their commercial simulator system which assumes no power steering for pros, and it's really rough and herky jerky.
IT also has a tire heat system which works CORRECTLY, so you're on glass until you warm them up. You can avoid that that a little in custom race settings though by doing a "rolling start".
Anyone who complains about the physics in pcars 2 mostly just hasn't raced real cars before, it's quite realistic. I have a R32 tuned nearly exactly like my ACTUAL r32 GT-R track car, and it feels pretty much identical give or take the pants pissing hook and feeling of acceleration, lol. I need a motion simulator.
http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?51628-Jack-Spade-Custom-FFB-Files
These work really good, then adjust to your own taste. Make sure you also set your deadzone to something like 0.1 or 0.25 depending on how sloppy your wheel has gotten over the years. If you have g27s like me over time they may need a new sensor. They can be upgraded with an optical one.
In game:
Custom FFB preset
Gain: 100
Volume: 60
Tone: 50
FX: 20
Spring: 10

bitching about ree anime night kicked me would be stupid, I get more annoyed by missing it when it's playing something I wanted to watch (EVA) or it causing the meetup to peter off when a bunch of people leave to go sit in front of a screen- but that's generic to every movie night/streaming world
i don't care at all about being votekicked, especially since I was being a drunk nigger and deserved it
>>240436237
yes, they already have bones for capes and skirts and often a great deal of other things.
>>240436372
god damnit. I want to join you anon but I really, really don't like the terrible support of AC for vr.
They tossed it in as an afterthought and it runs terribly. The menus are horrible, you have to constantly do things on your screen, it's just not good.
>>240436718
I'm using a G29 with Jack Spade's alternative mid comp and some edited deadzone values. It's way better than the defaults, just still not as good as I was hoping for. I'll give those in game settings a shot though and see if they help.
>>240436718
I've played PCars 2 with an xbone controller and did well even on snow.
I think we should have different "leagues" based on what people use, I know some who are into mouse steering and are exceptional at it. What I'm saying is that I understand you would be playing AC/PCars2 for racesim purposes but you could also have "arcade" races despite both games being racesims, we're not going to shove each other off the track, it's just that I think we should let anons without a wheel to play.
So I understand it's preferable to have a wheel, but do you really need one to just casually play?
People without a wheel are going to be behind in a race unless they're aliens; as long as they don't slow you down, do you have anything against it?
>>240437356
you can even try lowering the gain a bit if you prefer less jarring ffb. G27 direct drive can rip your arm off, but so can driving a car with slicks and no power steering in reality. We actually REinstalled my power steering module after a day at the track because my arms were falling off to the point where I was steering wide at the end of the time attack in reality. Also turn off menu springing and make sure you set a cockpit reset button.
How broken is your headset? Mine has:
>right strap held together with gaffer tape
>cable held to frame with hair bands
>lens adapter held together with gaffer tape
>fabric reglued around nose
>foam almost completely flattened
>>240437356
don't forget to fix the g29's settings in the logitech profiler too, make sure your full rotation is working.>>240437407
pcars 2 actually has scoring based on what equipment you're using built in. People who are racing with assists and not using a wheel get automatic penalties and the game itself supports restricting things like view and input type.
>>240437651
>gaffer tape
lel
>cable held to frame with bands
If you're just cinching it down that's probably a lot nicer than having it flopping free, not that nigger rigged at all
>foam flattened
Replace it, that shit is uncomfortable af and vrcover stuff is cheap
>>240437651
Have mine since December 2018 and there's just a tiny bit of foam missing. I treat this shit better than my own life
>>240437661
It's funny because pcars2 is playable with a controller without assists.
In fact if you play with assists, it'll be way worse, specially if you're using an xbone controller.
My point is that so far all simracing games I've played (rFactor, AC, PCars1/2), were playable with what you would consider "non-standard" input, that being a mouse or a gamepad.
I'm sure you are also aware that there are drifters in AC who use mouse steering to drift.
Maybe it's just me treating the game as a game and not really as a simulator.
>>240437778
What is the best VRcover? All the ones I looked at have mediocre reviews.
>>240437651
Mine have been through a lot.
original strap replaced, eventually re-sewn with new velcro
got a das, never going back.
velcro backing for the face interface is coming off the plastic,
I've had it -literally- apart to clean salt from sweat out of it, I've got pictures.
original 3n1 cable pooched and causes major sync issues on hdmi, got the new smaller combined cable.
I've never had to replace the link box, but I use miniDP to DP which seems to help from what I've heard.
The IPD adjustment "sticks" because the mechanism slips off the gear a tiny bit when heat expands it. It "clicks" back into place though without problems.
Both controllers needed the touchpad "clicker" as they got spongy, I actually re-fabbed the plastic for the button so it lasts as long as humanly possible, hopefully after knuckles are out.
My vive gets a fucking BOATLOAD of use and still works flawlessly in the functional sense since 2016, so I can't say i've had real issues, just parts touching bodies.
DK2 actually is perfect and never had issues.
Windows mixed reality Acer headset is picky about sloppy connections to the 3n1 trrs cable for headsets but it's otherwise been fine.
I don't use the rift cv1 enough for there to be any issues.
>>240438024
they're playable, yes, but your final score is adjusted based on what type of input you used, with full points going to real wheels.
>>240438134
For some reason, they pulled the one I recommend most highly, the no-padding leather overcover, but since your padding is flattened anyway it wouldn't matter.
I always prefer leather over cloth for sweat reasons since I play active games regularly and hate having to wash the cover constantly, as leather just lets you wipe it down.
https://vrcover.com/ I'd recommend just getting their 14mm or 16mm- I can't remember- larger size padded leather ones, and compressing it down by tightening the headset since it won't move as much and won't lose FOV. If you prefer the straps being more comfortable and aren't as concerned with the headset moving around while you play, I'd go for the thinner one so you don't lose FOV.
...hunh.
now I feel bad.

>>240438509
A lot of reviews say there's a huge gap around the nose and gaps above the eyes that let light in.
>>240438509
>>240438509
There are a lot of newfrends here.
One thing you can do to avoid any pressure from a thinner face interface is to adjust the top strap after adjusting the back, so that pressure is relieved a bit.
you can also increase the width of the top strap with something like a duffle bag shoulder thing (the thing that goes over top of the strap to provide padding for your shoulder) to distribute the weight better.
the superior design is clearly the forehead relief "crown" of other headsets but that's hard to do on a vive.
>>240438942

>>240438980
>Gaps above the eyes
is their headset physically sagging off their face? Tighten it down.
Mine works perfectly, and if there are gaps you can fix it by just cinching the headset itself down harder. If you're worried about it not fitting your face or something, which is the likely issue of the reviewer, buy the thicker one so there's more tolerance for it being away from your face slightly.
>>240436237
Clevebro is cute! CUTE! Bowlroll/Nico usually have fully rigged versions that you can add on physics for with capes and other accessories.
>>240438487
Well that's fair because mouse steering has it's advantages over an actual wheel, being able to do alien things (flicking the wheel precisely where you want it to be), it should have points deducted.
Would you let anons without wheels play with those who do have them?
This is all considering how there's not many people who actually play simracers here.
I always wanted to get a proper racing wheel but considering how simracing is not my main hobby, I never did and I couldn't justify purchasing one, I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation.

>>240442216
After 6 years of vr, I can tell you with confidence:
unity, unreal, NATIVE vr (so c++ mostly), lumberyard/amazon/other things amazon made (insert massive usage gap here), cryengine (which is free now and has vr support, very underappreciated!), Derivative TouchDesigner, godot, tons of other esoteric engines down here at the bottom.
>>240441292
why would anyone do that, honestly? The truth is there somewhere but I doubt someone like that would intentionally tarnish their reputation especially when from what I can see they are actually well liked by people outside of vrg.
Poor little Zaku
>>240442727
yes, unity itself immediately supports all three major vr platforms and you can support steamvr, oculus home, and windows mixed reality walled gardens natively as build targets using official unity extensions.
You can however build games for OVRuntime(oculus) OpenVR(anything vive-like or with steamvr support, so all headsets essentially), or Mixed Reality that do not require you to be in their "app store loaders" to run.
If you want access to steamworks features you need to run steamvr's native extensions in some way or interface them directly.

install the beta of windows mixed reality for steam vr.
turn on performance mode in nvidia settings
set vr prerendered frames to "auto"
go into windows mixed reality settings and set ultra/best visuals and lock to 90hz,
make sure you're on steamvr beta
lock steamvr to 1.0 supersampling.
love life.
Mommy Lisa Su model when?
>>240446547
What headset, the lenses makes a pretty big difference in quality of picture. As for the blur, it's just limitations of modern tech. It sucks but you legitimately do get used to it.
Wait for Pimax-tier shit to be consumer grade and picture quality can skyrocket, you need dual 4k to get a picture quality that's still marginally below that of a 1080p monitor just due to proximity to your eye
God, the Vive Pro is some annoying shit. It either starts up with audio issues or with the front camera not working seemingly at random. Even while rebooting all the software there is no consistency with this thing as far as what will work and what won't.

>>240446547
I have the vive, felt similar at first and thought VR looks kinda shitty but I pushed through for a few days because shit was cool.
Eventually my eyes adjusted, when things weren't in the sweetspot my brain just patched that shit up to make it look better, I no longer realized things were blurry and I automatically moved my head more than my eyes to get better vision and reading capability with the sweet spot.
Now that I think about it I don't move my eyes as much in real life and keep turning my head to look at things still in my vision.
Tupper sounds cute tbqh
>>240446547
ironically wmr with real rgb screens tends to be a lot sharper than other headsets, even the vive.
You just need to get the supersampling right. Most of the time it's misconfigured.
oh and try cranking your fans, if it's ramping your gpu down it'll randomly drop resolution down on you.
VR tries to cater to the lowest common denominator, you need to not be a brainlet to lock quality to as good as it gets. There's also improved chromatic aberration adjustment in later firmwares on wmr, you could be a couple behind.
Remember that you're looking at a 1400x1400 screen under a magnifying glass that is designed to be light so they used thin fresnel lenses. Proper glass aspherical lenses actually show the screen door effect more.
oh! and cut the nosepiece foam a bit anon, so that the headset is against your eyes properly. The one issue is that your nose can push the headset on a slight upward angle, you might find it blurrier that way, once I cut the little loop of foam into two on mine, everything is mega sharp. hold it against your face, and you'll see.
also depends on the game, and the earlier settings I mentioned to make sure you'4e getting max resolution and supersampling.

Anything more than that you would probably want them, especially if you have astigmatism.
A very wide ipd can be a little off with lenovo.
there's a trick to make sure it's sharp as fuck though. cover one eye and put the hmd on. align it on your head so it's nice and comfy and you're in the exact sweet spot, then do the other eye. You may find that the headset needs to be tilted a little more than you imagined.
Then, go back to the first eye and adjust the ipd. Then, cover that and see if it's super clear in the other. If not, find the median point that is as clear as possible for both. then don't touch it.

VR integration in unity is fairly tight, and well trodden in terms of tutorials. Some anon linked this playlist a while back
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrk7hDwk64-aj63hyoh0IfzBz_C2ebNVy
Out of the box, if you have a headset plugged in, you can configure unity to display in the headset when you click the "play" button on any arbitrary scene, it's that easy. Adding teleport movement and hand controls and stuff is a little more involved, but steamvr's unity sdk has a prefab for it. It's a little hard to understand and customize, but the basics are simple.
FWIW, unreal has official SDKs for all the VR stuff too, and it's probably just as easy, but I've only personally looked at unity, also for vrchat reasons.
>>240444114
Oh, does unity target build to webvr? I know it builds to webgl, didn't think it also did webvr stuff.
>>240449659
the screendoor is somewhat unavoidable if your screens are super sharp, but you won't notice it as much after a while. Believe it or not there's less screendoor in that headset then the vive. And if supersampling is way high, it'll be less noticible
you can really only see it on whites and other bright colours, in vrchat it's pretty much invisible a lot of the time due to dark maps.
You can improve it quite a bit by making sure you're always in 90hz very high (and that steam's supersampling is locked to 1.0, 1.25). You don't want it to be dynamic.
Ironically taking your glasses off helps a bit sometimes once you're used to it, lol. Get the lenses as close to your eyeballs as possible. We actually use a piece of thick fabric instead of the foam to make sure the lenses are as close as humanly possible.
Threadly reminder - gimme stuff (less then a week until deadline)

motion sickness is solved by focusing on your body more than your vision for balance. Learn to balance on one foot with your eyes closed and turn your whole body when you're turning, not just your head.
The only people who get simsick are people who rely more on their vision for balance than their vestibular system.
use snap turning in titles that allow it. Don't give up and you will get your "vrlegs".

>>240450571
It seems like most people get used to it, but don't dive right in the deep end first. Do teleporting, then stick movement with restricted vision + snap turning, then without restricted vision, then try smooth turning. Some people never get over smooth turning, though i personally find it fine.
Dramamine works too.

See you in the steam forms with all the other AMD cucks crying about the devs not supporting your card.
>>240450571
as long as you stay aware of your BODY'S position in real space you'll be okay. If you primarily use your body for balance rather than your vision you'll not get simsick.
you can trick your brain too. For example, if you're using forward movement and you stand as if you're on a skateboard/hoverboard, and every time you move you imagine yourself riding on a hoverboard, you might not get simsick.
Since you've done boat racing, brace yourself in the same way you do for sailing. Imagine yourself standing on a boat, and the forward movement is initiated by you. Using "hand directed" locomotion is generally less disconnect inducing then head related locomotion, that's important. Basically you want where your left hand is POINTING to be the direction you move in game, just like driving a car.
the more gross motor activation involved in your movement there is the less it'll bother you, Which is why sprint vector makes exactly nobody sick, even though it totally looks like it should.
https://survios.com/sprintvector/
>>240451036
don't ever take dramamine. Take two shots of stiff liquor instead, it's ironically less brain damaging, and works great since your vestibular system basically gives up.

There's some titles that actually perform better on AMD 480 than a 1070ti for example, most notably anything source 2 (steamvr home) or croteam (serious sam vr). Anything dx12 or especially vulkan will be faster on HBM2 cards like the vega64 or 56 most of the time.
The nvidia cards are a good bet just in the vr space though, but the software caught up.
Async reprojection only worked in nvidia for a while, unless the title had AMD's liquidvr plugin, which unity supports natively now.
it's still early days, but this new card, the radeon vii, should give you the same perf if not better than 1080ti in any new or aaa vr title for the most part I would imagine.
They didn't mention virtual link, which is disappointing, they might be waitng for navi.

You'll gradually gain a sixth sense for walking around the cable and not getting tangled in it. Trust me.
>>240452391
don't do that, it can strain the cable and cause dropouts.
Attach it to your back belt loop with a carabiner so it's always behind you. You'll get used to it just like a guitar player gets used to his amplifier cord.
Also make sure your bluetooth adapter is line of sight to the hmd's controllers if you want them to work really well. I ended up turning my computer sideways for maximum cord.

oh, and download "turnsignal" from the steam store or just get used to making left turns and then right turns if you need to 360.
some really good vr games subtly set game levels up in a way that makes you alternate your turning when you've done a 360 once, it's pretty neat.
gameslike beat saber or any boxing game don't require you to turn around at all which is nice.
You came to the right place man, a lot of us here have had vr for 2+ years, and we're happy to help redpill more people.

it's only the iphone that uses that esoteric new gpu, and previous to that it was an unironically fucking fast "powerVR" which is a company spun off from the 90's vr era that uses a licenced design of an amd architecture, actually.

Series 4 still didn't even have programmable shaders, while Series 2 didn't do hardware transform and lighting (and so isn't technically a GPU). So it's like a TNT2 vs. a GeForce 2 in terms of architectural differences. Likely a continuity of design philosophy and reuse and replication of the core silicon, but with exponentially more area being devoted to newly added capability.
Based on the Wikipedia article at least.

Your controllers use batteries, I recommend getting these:
https://www.amazon.com/3000mWh-rechargeable-Lithium-battery-Charger/dp/B01H0H6K2C/
they're lighter, last longer, and recharge over usb, they also keep the IMU and accelerometer on until they're dead because they maintain 1.5v the entire time. One of the main reasons wmr controllers have tracking issues is that they go into a shitty "low power" mode after about 50% of the way through a standard NI-MH battery.
>>240456389
How long do batteries last in WMR controllers?
>>240456494
much less than other controllers for various reasons if you're using recharibles, but long enough usually. Batteries vary significantly, for some reason the wmr controllers are sensitive to voltage droops below 1.3v on AA and they will say the battery is "low" when it isn't. Probably because they use bluetooth 4.0+
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-High-Capacity-Pre-Charged-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00HZV9TGS/
These are rebranded eneloop pros if the lithium ones are too rich for your blood, they're acceptable as long as you stick to 300mah charging over 8 hours, they'll last ages, 4-10 hours of gaming usually.

How are you planning to propose on Valentine's Day, anon? You do have a plan, right? You're not going to just randomly approach them out of the blue and spill your guts, right?
>>240458073
Favoritism for posts that are on topic, oh no. Maybe a tabloid anon can come along and tl;dr the juicy drama.
>>240458073
There's nothing wrong with favouring goodposters
>>240458041
the tribal pattern is actually a way to find a unique waitgetpose for the controllers themselves.
Windows mixed reality uses a point cloud system (the dots) the tribal pattern is a DESIGN consideration. Essentially, the cameras on the device can "find" the pose of the controller from any angle, allowing it to inform the system of it's position in 6dof space, it then combines that with the IMU and accelerometer to create a "always ready" array of sensor data that the vr software platform of your choice (steamvr etc) uses to figure out where stuff is in a "sensing volume".
it's pretty dope actually. This one probably uses a "vertex edge" lowpoly model instead of a "vertex point" one like wmr, and the light ring indicates which side is the "front"
tl;dr the tribal pattern isn't (just) for looks.
If you're gonna confess anon don't wait until Valentine's and do it now.
>>240458498
I like a lot of anons and a lot of them like me back (I think), so I'm probably going to remain an indecisive anime protagonist and get blindsided if anything happens.

>>240458041
humm, you know what else I just realized? that hole in the front is possibly an active cooling fan, and the way it's shaped makes me wonder if the hmd is using a single very large very high resolution screen.
those screens could be running at an absurd refresh rate, usually 240hz requires that kind of cooling - but with a single screen it would be achievable - it's actually really hard to do with a dual output display controller, you need to get them custom made by companies like nvidia and it costs a lot, bumping up the cost of the hmd.
That would be so insanely good if it was a giant single screen - could be a huge fov and a massive framerate.
Linear scaling is lossless too, they could use lower resolutions but nicer looking picture.
I can dream, I guess.
In any case, their marketing says "displays" so I bet they're the same ones as in the samsung od+.
It's possible the hole is a radio/ultrasonic based TOF distance scanner, too, to add to accuracy of hmd.
OR, it's a cooling fan for your own face. Wouldn't that be nifty.
>>240458646
I know why it exists, but it still just looks tacky, compared to the quest controllers or even WMR. Well, at least I don't have to stare at the controllers when the headset is on my face.
>>240458498
Last year I was worried about a confession happening to me from anyone, but now I'm only worried if it comes from someone I like. I think it's actually supposed to be a more affordable headset. I would not be surprised if it's windows mixed reality compatible, even.
Things I noticed studying the pictures up close:
This has a serial number,
controllers have a serial number and are labeled "ces"
Those are some wide ass angled camera lenses and MIGHT even be able to tilt?? one seems that it is angled slightly backwards, the side ones, and the other seems to be angled slightly forwards, but it could be a trick of the light.
I don't think they're motorized but it looks like they could be angled potentially. If the side cameras can angle back, occlusion won't be a thing, at all.
There's another microphone on the top right hand side, around the middle, (the little dot) that's nice. I bet if there's another one at the bottom, it might be for noise cancelling.
Mechanical IPD dial bottom right.
Still no focus dial sadly, which would solve the "I need glasses issue" like the gear vr does.
Someone please for the love of god get me a shot of the lenses up close.

>>240460354
#1 Don't use dynamic bone colliders
#2 Minimise dynamic bones by merging bones or just don't use them. Minimise the number of dynamic bone scripts you use by parenting your bones.
#3 Merge all your meshes. If you want a prop then add it in Blender and merge the mesh with your models. If you want a toggleable prop then do the same thing but then make a shapekey to make it appear.
#4 Atlas your textures into a single texture. If you want multiple materials for different shaders then still do this but assign different parts of the mesh to a another material using the same atlassed texture.

>>240460115
I think AC is the best for drifting, and it's easy to mod in Initial D togue tracks if you want. Dirt Rally is fun too, but you need to use Revive unless you have an Rift, and I've always had issues trying to get that to work. PCars 1 isn't worth getting at this point, and I don't personally like PCars 2 as much as the others, especially for drifting. Some anons here really seem to like it though, and it's easier to use in VR than any racing sim I've played.
Also, I agree with >>240461297other than g2x being endgame. Sell your wheel and buy a better one. If you have to pay for a converter, it's not worth it.

It's simply the bones. Merge some of the skirt/hair/whatever bones and such and I'm sure you can get the transform value way down.

Yep. Real vrchat players, ie the people who stick around, are creatives who make fun and interesting worlds, avatars, events, games, seasonal worlds, giant card game tournaments with special effects, huge theater worlds and movie nights, and always have something fun and interesting to show us. Vrchat is a huge open sandbox. Everything that exists was made by passionate people, many of them post here. It's a great game, but like the real world if you hang out at the theme park you'll meet all manner of people, but if you find yourself in an exclusive club you might find others who are like minded.
Also thecloser to 330pm on a weeknight the more likely you are tofind kids. Things get real after 8pm.

Although male professionals often cross their legs like that. The difference between the way men and women do it is that men cross their legs at the knee while women cross it behind the knee. It's actually not due to crushing your junk, it's due to the fact that the pelvis is at a different angle for men and women.
Crossing your ankle on your knee looks kind of unprofessional, puts too much pressure on your ankle, and often takes up too much space.

>At a neon drenched super-tech-fair in Las Vegas, 8TC have announced their 6th oddly confusing VR headset.
Vice president of reduced-charisma at HTC, Brian Suit, said "Today we're announcing the Vibe Cosmoose. A standalone, maybe tethered, neon-bracelet equipped, all-in-3 headset that can be powered by a PC, smart watch or portable sandwich toaster. It probably has a nice screen with some resolution, some field of view and will cost an amount of money. It will be available in the coming days, months or years when we've worked those bits out. Here's a video of the Cosmoose that honestly, even puzzles us".
"We've also announced the Vibe Eye, Vibe Nose and Vibe Ears high-end headsets to ensure we have all the human head parts covered. The new headsets now join our existing Vibe, Vibe Pro, Vibe Pro - Citroen C3 Edition and Vibe Focus to complete our new confusing hardware line up.
"With departments spread across North America and Taiwan it's impossible to agree a unified hardware vision so we've agreed to just make as much stuff as possible. Our current roadmap is a basically just a combination of what everyone else is doing, Reddit comments and messages we receive from a psychic panda in Taipei.

They're on to me. Don't let the PRC know where I am.
Who's hosting assetto corsa?
>>240479724
There's a couple tricks I've found that work pretty well.
-Shorter to Average height, basically any height where the other person doesn't have to squat or move up to reach your head.
-A good slightly round place for the hand to pat. So no hats or other accessories, and if you have animal ears move them down and to the side (like actual animals)
-Probably one of the most important steps: React to the headpats, noises, head motions, anything at all. People who give out headpats always enjoy seeing the recipient react to them.
And if all else fails, just ask for them.
A good example of the standard delay in photon unity voice with a double logged in client.
https://youtu.be/h0CYbGgULb0
>>240481635
Have you tried virtualcast? Its huge in japan.
>>240482724
Assetto Corsa uses dedicated servers, so they can just post the server name when it's up. I don't think it'll be up for another hour or so though.
>>240482880
Why's the delay so long? wtf
>>240482880
The moment I was waiting for was 3 minutes in.
sorry officer!
>>240482765
I am a headpat giver, so my perspective is:
- short is probably most appealing, but average is fine too. Tall makes it a lot more difficult, and most tall avatar users seem to prefer giving headpats to I end up receiving from them.
- front of the head is most important because headpat technique requires moving into the FOV. I can headpat some hat wearers but not others, it depends on what is covered. Ears aren't a problem at all.
- reaction is important. Laughing is one of the best. If you don't make a sound, head and body motions are essential so I know it is well received.
>>240483021

So that means you've played Hypatia.
Were you responsible for VRPill in Hypatia?
That game fucking scared me.
The surrealist environments, weird geometry, odd sounds and the ambiance of the game made me feel uneasy.
My first encounter there with someone else was basically someone who I think is hired/paid to introduce new people to the game, he said "Hey do you know that if you press down on the joystick you can go faster?"
I didn't reply, he kept chasing me for a bit and then left.
I defaced a lot of art in that game, painted /vrg/ on the walls wherever I could and left that world forever, I'm never returning to that place.
It's like someone's worst lucid dream.

NeosVR - Basically a P2P unity editor in VR. Has an extraordinarily broad support for various file formats that can be shared and viewed together. If you install freecad you can even import CAD models in a STEP format. It also features a fairly powerful node based VR scripting engine.
Anyland - Has a very quirky lego like feel, everything in the game is user created content. Creating things in game is done by cobbling together primitive shapes and behavior is then added by an in game scripting editor.
Hypatia - Virtual Amsterdam with various attractions, games, and spray paint nonsense. It had a good amount of polish overall.
These round up the VR Metaverses that stood out to me as offering something unique and and fun. Those three are worth playing around with at least once. These all have elements in them I have seen no where else.

Proteus effect refers to the tendency to adopt the mannerism and what not of your avatar. Kind of like how you walk a bit taller and more confidently if you wear a suit irl. Only this is in VR and people wear anime girls.
>>240484806
Proteus is a Greek god of rivers that can change form. The Proteus Effect, or in our context just proteus, happens when the form you take, be it a character in a play or an avatar in an online space, impacts how you act.
>>240484806

It's like playing what 90s VR would be, in a modern game engine (UE4), done wrong.
I was with someone else, got out of the subway, got chased by an autist trying to instruct us on how to play the game, ran away from them then we found a small canvas to paint on in a back alley, fellow anon wrote "I eat cum" over the previously painted art.
In the distance we noticed the overly enthusiastic moderator approaching, we fucking ran away while dying of laughter, he didn't find us.
Ended up painting /VRG/ under a bridge in black and white (it might still be there considering how dead the game is)
Meanwhile above us we could hear the moderator try and lecture another noob on how to play this dead game.
Then we tried out the boats, some of the different environments, and the graffiti world, the swamps looked weird as fuck and so did the cogwheel maze.
We quit after painting one of the flags with /vrg/
I had fun but at the same time it was a weird experience, it's truly as if you're playing a VR game with 90s game design, one in which everything feels wrong, the only thing that looked polished is the city environments, the rest looked otherworldly and old.
I don't know what they were thinking.

Half-Life VR!actually it's just serious sam with some mods
>>240485349
The graffiti was fun. We did the cogwheel maze too, and we raced to draw odd-colored swastikas on all the flags, while an overly enthusiastic moderator (maybe the same guy) was painting over them with smiley faces. I have a bunch of footage recorded in OBS, haven't bothered to cut it up yet though.
Hypatia would honestly be fun for a larger /vrg/ meetup once or twice. The rowboat mechanics are surprisingly fun too.

I know you're on an alt account, my mute friend saw you!
How could you...
After 10,000 years, the avatar of Proteus is finally free to destroy the Earth! It's up to you, anon, to assemble a team of X /vrg/ins with attitude and fight to save your planet.
Do you have a team strong enough to beat Proteus for good?

Would anyone recommend a Vive for desktop vr? There's someone offering a vive for $275 near me

who are these fake vague posts even meant for?
>vrfus are all taken or not interested
>vrpets are all claimed by cryptic
It's not fair...
>>240487958
They're fake. They're not meant for anyone in particular. They're meant to play with your insecurities, and make you think it's about you. It's baiting you into feeling things. Like intentionally getting something wrong to get someone to correct you, it's a mindgame meant to fuck with you, perhaps goad you into talking about things you otherwise wouldn't.
Is it common for zoomers to complain, whine, and be depressing all the time or is it just sad fucks on vrchat? Like every where I go I hear them complaining about their life. It’s probably just vrchat that attracts the sad boys and tranny degenerates.

Doesn't this already exist through virtuAl weekality or whatever its called
I'm in need of a vrmaster......
So I'm trying to import a model after several months of not playing vrchat. I heard there was a new plugin for doing texture atlases, what was it called?
>>240429694
don't do this if you're going to make garbage like this in ms paint.
>>240500367
You know who you have to ask
>>240500478
>>240500643
dont use this trash if you care about texture quality
>>240500367
PM cryptic you coward
>>240500749
How? It shouldn't actually be doing anything to the resolution right? Or does it?
>>240500749
texture quality doesn't matter so much on low resolution vr headsets
>>240500749
That does not seem to downscale textures at all from what I've noticed. Regardless, many models (made by mongols who couldn't uvmap for their lives) often have flat colors as textures up to 1024 in size, so those colors could very well just be single pixel blocks. It's best to take not of which these are at the start, make them smaller, and then atlas them.
Also take into account texture resolution versus real resolution, where a 4k texture ring is way too much effort if the skin covering the hand is 4k as well, you'll see the discrepancies.
>>240500887
brainlets, when will they learn?
>>240500887
>>240501052
Because of how it works, it doesn't pack the islands, so the image ends up being massive. When you bring it into unity, it compresses it to 2k. just take the time to manually atlas it
>>240500981
you're a lot closer to objects in vr than on a normal screen. you'll notice it
>spend an hour and a half learning the basics of Blender and Unity
>Model I'm using has a cape
>Think it'll fall to the ground in game since I set its bones as dynamic ones
>Ends up being a stiff board
Time to take a break
>>240501157
You can change the import to 4k if you like.
As long as the gaps between are flat colors or transparent, it won't have any significant impact on file size or vram usage.
>>240501157
Unity does not compress my 3072p texture atlases. Perhaps this is because I manually copied the texture files. Regardless, there's a workaround you should look into.
>>240499517
>>240499815
I've seen a lu at /xivg/ and /bnsg/
>>240501321
Modify the values for either gravity or force on the Y-axis for things supposed to drop to the ground.
>>240501157
you forgot to mention the fact that one material is actually less performant than 2 if you're using cutout or transparencies on the one. material combiner combines all into one no matter what
>>240501321
>>240501630
Gravity never worked well for me, it always felt odd. What I do is set Y Force to --.01.
>>240501731
Yeah, screenshot was quickly taken on the one model I use gravity, I usually use force too.
>>240501438
You mean Luu?
/vrg/ had a Luud, but never a Lu
>>240500809
How many vrpets does cryptic have?
>>240501947
Luud! That's who
>>240501693
Huh? The one I've been using let me choose which textures to put onto an atlas. Try updating Cats/Redownloading that extension.
Is there a good guide on how to make it so your clothes move with your body properly without using dynamic bones? I forgot the proper term for it, but it's the thing that you do in blender, not unity.
>>240502779
weightpainting? i don't think anyone's made good tutorials
>>240502929
Yeah, weightpainting. I never learned it way back when, and I really want to have a nice model to use when I finally start logging in again, so I'd like to try getting my current model set up with it before I do anything else.

VRC has shown me that I'm socially retarded and more than capable of ruining friendships with seemingly pointless things
I did it! I got all the keys from Wurstworld, the ending was nice. I'm thinking of actually buying h3vr, really fun.
