The real difference is the taboo against sharing vrg content with the public at large. Not just outsiders but to the world in general. Having a vrchat twitter is basically the same as being a streamer.
I don't want what I do online to bleed into the real world so I keep them separate. Knowing that there are people out there who may be sharing things I do with others I don't know is something I don't want. I don't want the attention or reputation that may come from it. Hell I don't even like telling you niggers that I lewd and just keep that shit between myself and my partners. And even then I have some things I regularly beat off to that I would never tell anyone. Not having control over who knows or sees what is something I want to avoid. I don't care about their social standing or how they chose to share what they get up to, I just don't want that to affect me and by extension the people I do things with. /vrg/ is /vrg/, man. I'll hang out with streamers but not during the meetups and only when I know they're streaming so I can filter my actions accordingly.

Another weird vrchat/unity thing: climbey mechanics. I was experimenting with chairs and physics (for the tank game soon™), and ended up figuring out a rig that lets you apply the same sort of hand-motion-relative opposing force to a chair that you can sit in, simulating moving the world around with your hands. Thus, climbing. Right now you can just climb anywhere, but in theory you could restrict the activation of the configurable joints that power it to certain geometry, a la climbey. The chair itself is under physics control too, so flinging yourself around works too, albeit a bit clunky.

Main problem is you have to be in a chair, so you're stuck in a sitting pose and your armature hip is fixed forward, no stick turning. It's possible to instead apply the same climbing physics to a collider platform that you stand on instead, but your avatar ends up sliding off of it with lateral motion. I tried making a box to push you sideways, but it was pushing my avatar around in weird ways just jumping on it. Might still work with more experimentation though.

FYI Pimax 5k+ quick tl;dr:
- Neat: High FOV
- Neat: High rez, low SDE
- Awful: Extremely uncomfortable
- Awful: Microphone is inexplicably all the way on the right side of the headset
- Awful: Headstrap is worse than even the default Vive headstrap
- Awful: The foam is exceedingly awful and uncomfortable
- Awful: Software is complete and total garbage and I have experienced no worse hell than this
It does work in VRC, but hilariously SteamVR refuses to believe your FOV is as high as it is, so you get to see things getting occluded at the extreme edges of your vision.
build quality is fine, noticed no major issues.
However, you need a powerhouse to push the necessary frames. Even with my 2080 and i9 I was having issues with reasonable amounts of people I'd expect to get 90 frames with.
should you buy tl;dr: ABSOLUTELY NOT. Get a Vive or Rift. They can improve the software over time but the comfort will not get better until they release their better headstrap (a la Vive DAS), and third parties come up with foam replacements. The mic isn't fixable and you'd have to buy a modmic to have any kind of improvement.
