Have you demo'd a headset at a store/arcade/friend's house. I always recommend doing that first, to see how you feel about the current limitations of VR.

I don't know what's gone wrong in contractors but it seems like body shots no longer do anything from any weapon. I shot a light vest with an AWM twice within a few seconds and they didn't die. Every time I've hit a body with it they don't die, aside from once when they were already damaged. Other weapons won't kill even with an entire magazine. Every kill seems to be from a grenade or headshot since the update. Others seem to be dealing damage normally and have turned around and killed me after I've hit them more than ten times.

I have power management enabled and wonder if it's more trouble that it's worth. My TV blocks LoS to the link box from one of the base stations, and while it shows a connection in settings, it doesn't always turn off. On top of that, updating SteamVR sometimes causes the base stations to remain off until I manually power cycle both of them. When you open a Steam game, there is a popup that tells you to click on this option. The only way this could be problematic is if someone either is really really incompetent with technology and is afraid of literally every option, or they just didn't know that Steam sells games that could be run on the Rift, in which case, the problem would not be that switch, but Steam's marketing.
