In response to the increasingly stagnating NA lobbies, we are introducing some upcoming comprehensive NA Pavlov Reform effective immediately:

1. Teamkilling. The punishment for TKing will be significantly more severe. We have not decided what exactly will have to happen on a case by case basis, but suffice it to say that this is now a #1 priority for us.

2. More Robust Map Rotation. For a long time now we have played on the same 5-6 maps, and people are getting bored. New maps will be added to the rotation after being approved by the NA constituents in the coming days. So be on the lookout for that.

3. Red Dot Awp. Now regarding the Cleetas question, I have had extensive time to talk with him, and he tells me that if I really think it would improve things (apparently everyone can see the obvious except him), that it would be in his best interest to learn how to use the AWP without a 1:1 sight. I don't know if I trust his word as far as I can throw him, but if he ends up being the only thing that impairs progress, we will gladly just replace him as host permanently, start excluding him and then be done with it. No Holds Barred.

4. Team Balancing. Stomping is the one thing that is difficult for anyone who is not the individual doing the stomping to control. There is a general negative response to any non-random team selection suggestions so we will commit no action to this issue.

5. Miscellaneous Lobby Logistics. When the lobby starts and at least 2 people are inside, deathmatch/gun game will begin immediately. Once there is at least 6 players, Search and Destroy will begin. If 30 minutes of deathmatching passes without 6 players, the lobby will transition to a Rando-stomping lobby for the remainder of the session until more /vrg/ers arrive.

not true anymore, the price is right so people are buying Space Junkies.
They went from having zero north american participants in their inaugural ESL tournament to 16 in like 5 days.
Space Junkies has a healthy player base across psvr and pc now, more than enough to sustain endless 4 and 6 player games in the afternoons on any day of the week without waiting around.
It's incredibly worth it at this price.
It's important to remember that Ubisoft isn't greedy: the game is worth the price they're asking but there isn't enough people WITH vr headsets outside of PSVR to get people to buy in. It's the chicken and egg problem.
So they lowered the cost to entry to get more people in.

Samsung's Odyssey and Odyssey + plus have INSANELY better screens and lenses but are very similar otherwise while being generally more expensive. I would pay 250 for the first gen odyssey tops.

windows mixed reality has access to all of steamvr and technically practically everything on oculus as well.

It's not an awful headset at all. 1400x1400 with software ipd adjustment (if you're close to 64mm it's great) but you need good bluetooth for the tracking to be 100% most of the time.

For 90% of things the tracking is fine (way better than people say it is) but it does suffer from slight occlusion on the controllers only now and then if you leave them behind you for too long without moving them.
you need to use 1.5 or 1.6v batteries and have good line of sight to your bluetooth, but I would say they're close to 90% of what you get from a rift cv1 with way lower system requirements, and they're higher resolution.
Great price too.

If you have a store/arcade with a demo unit anywhere close, get an in-person demo first. One of the main problems with the cheap WMRs is if your IPD doesn't fall within headset's range, then you're fucked on screen clarity and you're better off saving up for a used vive or rift.

that's not entirely true. I've got almost every headset currently out and the IPD on WMR is fairly good with software adjustment between 56 and 66mm
The sweet spot on the lenses is a little bigger than most people think.
One thing to note is that if you're high or low on the IPD scale MOST of the sweet spot is just moved either to your peripheral vision or the center of your vision.
So for people on the high end things closer to you will be clearer, and for people on hte low end things further away or when you're looking to the right or left will be clearer.
Not having mechanical ipd adjustment isn't so bad unless you're literally an actual little person or you have hammerhead eyes, and it's usually just fine for hammerhead people.

You can blame rootmotion's VRIK for that, it's not exactly VRChat team's fault. HTC has their own tracker sdk as well as there being other options like the one Virtualcast and Swords of gargantua uses.

However, the devs over there COULD implement a prefab in the unity tool to allow you to associate a tracker with a bone, but that would require more precise placement ON YOUR BODY, or, alternately, they would have to figure out which tracker ID you intend. If you move your trackers around or they're even started up in a different order, which tracker is which changes, so, having you snap into each skeleton is a compromise to allow fine tuning I suppose.

Virtualcast solved this by having you snap into a prefab that later APPLIED the prefab offset of the hips and feet and hands and head to your imported model's bones, and it used THAT prefab scaled to whatever model you happen to be in to adjust it. It's slightly imperfect, if you get it wrong you'll always be looking up or something, but you can go back and redo it.
They could implement something like that but I suspect that even though we see a ton of them, the number of users with FBT is fairly low.
That being said FBT streamers do drive people to their platform.
Now that we're aware of the fact that they work FOR HTC (not just with them) I bet they're privvy to a bunch of exclusive vr hardware on htc's side, like the cosmos and whatever the next tracker is.

Vive is $500 plus a deluxe audio strap, CV1 is used only and like wearing used underwear, WMR needs to hybridize with expensive lighthouses, Rift S is shit, dildos suck, CV1 likely needs a USB expansion card on an old PC, etc. The first generation is flawed.

You do understand that unless a 4k monitor is 1.5ft away and 28 inch you get zero benefit from it, right. There's diminishing returns in the other direction. 1080p screens only look clearer because they're farther away. If you had 110deg fov for a 1080p monitor it would look like shit and be a few inches from your nose.
HMDs are 1400x1400 or more for even the cheap ones. Even with the image blown up via lenses the effective resolution of the theater screen is usually better than a 1080p tv at distance and the audio is most definitely better since you can simulate hrtf 7.1.
Yeah you can see a little screen door. That's very, very different from effective resolution, which is a factor of ppd, of which most headsets are between 10 and 20, which is quite good actually.

If you want the same fidelity as a monitor in your vive pro set the hmd back as far as it will go from the facemask. You'll lose FOV, but you/ll gain close to the same ppd as a monitor, with a very similar fov as a screen. You don't seem to understand your own argument.

I'm not a fucking idiot, I know we can see well above 240hz. We can resolve differences at like 11 milliseconds or less. Athletes more.
VR headsets are just a display with magnifying glasses laid over it.
A typical new phone, viewed from a distance of 10 inches, has a PPD of ~80 even with it's shitty resolution, while a 65" fucking inch 4K TV viewed from four feet has a PPD of 55.7 but a PPD of 67.5 when viewed from five feet away. That's really fucking close. You need around 60-80ppd for "human eye", anything above that is basically wasted on most people that you can't really tell the difference between the pixels and the extra cost of the resolution on your system is pointless, it's better to focus on other things like refresh rate or pixel fill.

Yea vroid is actually pretty powerful for creating faces that are unique but not enough people take advantage of it.
I just went through the vroid tags on booth. There's a lot more content for vroid, heaps of clothes and i just downloaded some new face textures and eye textures.
