Got my Rift S two days ago. The display is nice, but that's about it really.
Tracking is as you would expect, not bad, but not great either.
Built in sound is bad. You can fit a Koss porta pro under the headset, but I would modify it like Tested did in their review, for better comfort.
Built in microphone is even worse. The best solution I can think of right now would be to use a Zalman microphone.

The headset drivers also comes with a few bugs that Oculus are struggling to fix, the most obvious one being the white/static flash bug (happens once or twice every hour).

Hope this helps anyone who was considering buying.

Go to Options -> Video settings -> Shaders -> Config (in bottom right) -> Normal Maps -> Change the top left option to parallax. By default it's none so you won't see bump or parallax. bump mapping doesn't do much unless you're on the surface since there's only one directional light of the sun. Parallax mapping should be pretty noticable on cobblestone though.

It really makes me think that they'll probably provide a really extensive manual, including one for replacements.
The main problem with repairing things in-house yourself is mainly the dust, your house is not a dust-proof environment so for the most part, you wouldn't want to do it in-house because you might get dust on the screen which is very noticeable during usage.

I'm personally happy that Valve didn't go the fashion design route & that they didn't make something that looks like a fashion accessory rather than a headset that's easily serviceable.
This might be one of the first headsets that you can freely take apart and reassemble.

If your interpupular distance isn't 63mm or within a few mm don't get any windows mixed reality as they're not adjustable other than the samsung. You'll want to have a clear space in a room at least 1.8mx2m, bigger if you can, to set up in. Rift is generally considered the comfortable headset with good controllers but it's a bitch to get to work with extra trackers. Vive is pretty good, works natively with extra trackers and also knuckles controllers coming out pretty much right now but the stock vive controllers are ass. Index is just about to start reaching people so we don't know much about it other than everyone drooling over it in reviews. WMR and the Rift S have the sensors for positional tracking on the headset while everything else you have to mount them on the walls or put them on shelves pointing at you. Also worth noting that the WMR controllers don't interfere with tracking pucks' tracking but the Rift controllers do so a hybrid setup is mildly better with WMR. Vive pro is a meme and far too expensive for what it is but the audio strap is quite good.
