The value of the person does not rely on the frequency of posts on the vrfps channel but on if they played vrfps quite a bit. There is also the point on where even if you removed your so called "non-player" votes (which are few). The votes are still overwhelmingly a majority.

But seriously what the fuck happened? I started playing this game late April 2018 and the people that played it were infinitely more chill and fun to hang with. People were genuinely playing the game just to meet cool people and hang out. I started watching in December 2017 when Poke and Team 5 were playing and it was roughly the same. People these days play the game to replace their lack of interaction with the opposite sex. It's honestly like 90% of people. I still play quite heavily because I was lucky enough to meet cool people and create a sort of group with them back when the game was filled with cool people, so I see public worlds quite often, and it's pathetic.

Remember when "VR weddings" were the things people did, and a lot of it was knowingly a joke just fuckin around and having fun? That shit was hilarious. People weren't actually thinking they just got fuckin married though. Now it's this ludicrous and sad ERP that people take 100% serious and pretend like they actually got laid. It's pathetic hearing a dude say "I hooked up with someone last night", acting macho because of it, when in reality he found an underage thot who was willing to mash pixels with him and moan. Am I supposed to be impressed? Does he not realize it's literally the opposite?

Back when I first started playing I actually had cool conversations and met great people regularly. I'm fairly vocal and...I dunno, socially capable(I'm a bit older than most people on the game too so I have that advantage), so when I'd go into public worlds I could easily hit it off with some people and talk for like an hour even if I'd never meet them again.

But these days I go into a public world, and it's like I'm a ghost. Every dude who isn't in a group who is playing this game solo seems to be on the hunt for female interaction while every chick is looking for beta orbiters to supply her with attention because she probably severely lacks it IRL. I've had times where I was seemingly talking to a cool dude, but then a girls voice would pop up or a girl from my group would join the convo and I became a fucking ghost again. It's annoying a fuck.

And the biggest issue with all of this is the snowball effect it has had. It's like Second Life at this point, where the core group of players are the biggest group of fucking weirdos so it acts as a barrier to any cool person that joins. My friends and I laugh when we meet an actual cool person that's a visitor because we assume after a week we'll never see him again even if we add him. If I started playing this game in 2019 and not 2018, not having a group, I would have stopped playing after a week, because it would be impossible to have a decent conversation because of the fact most people are weird af these days, and the fact that you're a ghost to begin with.

It's also reminding me a lot of Second Life because where things were once tongue in cheek, RP was just for laughs and not serious, now it's fully 100% serious. Everyone is trying to use the game to replace a void in their real life, so for them it needs to be serious, and it's super unhealthy. That is what made Second Life so pathetic, and it's what is making me embarrassed to tell anyone I play this game.

Holy fuck steam input thing is absolute garbage. The fact that you can't drag controls from one side to the other is enough to make me hate it.

Even a lot of people I have known since last summer have changed for the worse. People no longer even want to attempt to do anything. While we used to play werewolf or never have I ever regularly(among other random games), now it's impossible to get anyone to want to do anything. They're content with just going to random avatar worlds and trying on the same cat girl avatar they have 1000x that is laggy as fuck, and sitting in front of a mirror. Subnautica is an amazing game and it looks fantastic in VR but if you remap the controller, the movement is a bit slow and laggy so you'll end up playing seated with mouse. The HUD is way too close to your eyes to properly read but you can kind of live with that.
You can play it pretty well but there'll be a few things that are annoying and make you think twice about opening in VR next time. I guess you could swap between them though.

They fucked up three things:
* the control scheme needs to support VR better. Vivecraft would be the model to emulate
* the FOV, MEIN GOTT IN HIMMEL, it needs to be 90/110/120 and not locked at 60
* the HUD needs to BACK THE FUCK UP, ideally a slider to position it at a readable distance

If they fixed those, it would be godly. Some people have patched it to fix the FOV but I think the latest version can't be patched like that or something.
If it was a little modable then these could be fixed, they're not major issues.
The game looks pretty amazing in VR regardless though.

I went back and played it and I think my gripes aren't as bad as I make them sound. It's perfectly playable but those things are kind of annoying.
The only real problem I had is that the vehicle POV is sometimes randomly oriented so that you have to turn around to see straight and since you're on kbm, that's irritating.

The tracking before the update was unacceptable. It would lose tracking when I had my hands by my sides and when I brought the controller close to my face to aim in Pavlov. After the update, my hands track by my sides and track close to face - they lose it if I literally press the controller to my cheek, which I think is reasonable. Also, I need to pull the trigger really far to shoot in Pavlov. If I can change that, it would help.

I realised that I definitely have astigmatism (one eye stronger than other) - I compensated for it with the original Rift by having one side tighter than the other, but this is impossible with the halo headband. I really ought to find a solution, like sticking something on the left side to prop it slightly further from my eye on that side.

So I reckon I might actually keep it. I have a third Rift sensor that I've been unable to hook up because it would need to be on the long USB 2.0 extender, which would kill my performance (everything needs to be on 3.0). This has left me facing one direction - and this was also towards the cable. Now I am free to turn as I wish, and can have my primary direction away from the cable, to give me even more freedom. The two biggest issues right now are the comfort of the face cover (which I should be able to replace) and the static. The static fucking sucks but by itself it's not enough to turn me back to the old Rift. The visual clarity increase and freedom of movement is enough to make it worthwhile. It is a worthy stopgap on the way to a proper upgrade - maybe Index S...

The 144hz refresh rate does make a significant difference. Just played some eleven table tennis for the first time on index, it feels a lot better than on rift.

But yes it's still an expensive gen 1.5 headset. And after a week of the index, I still think the touch controllers are superior to the knuckles. If I could somehow use the touch controllers with the index hmd I would. The finger tracking is still pure gimmick and not reliable enough for any sort of presence boost. touch controllers have near perfect ergonomics for my hand size, have hot-swappable batteries, and weigh 35 grams less.

as far as the flipped back forth horizontals go, I usually either:
hold my hands together and swing them as a single block, flipping in the middle
OR
keep right on top of left, but alter angle- this requires more accuracy but is faster and requires less movement.
As for actually being able to do it quickly, either be a bitch and relegate force more to your less massive joints (wristfaggotry) or get bigger triceps to jolt your elbows to a stop faster.

Generally as maps got harder I stopped putting as much into the wrists and moved it to my elbows, it feels better to play, give more of a workout, and doesn't cause any much injury.
Overall I think of it now like throwing a baseball where whole arm movement gets you power and wrist flip at the end of extension gets you speed. However, unlike a baseball trying to use the shoulder fucks me up quick. So side to side blocks like that I tend to rotate my arms so my elbows somewhat align to the direction. Then use wrist movement at the end of pumping my
arm to give extra speed and positioning.
Although whenever I watch replays of other players they always look like shitters doing nothing but autistic wrist flapping so maybe I'm not right either. Im probably doing too much follow through or something.

If anyone is curious about Gal Gun VR, don't get the first game. Gal Gun 2 basically includes all of the content from the first.

Also, it's kind of fun, mostly arcade shooting gallery, but with a story and multiple endings. I haven't played any other "VN but in VR games", but this one feels like, with bit better UI and controls for VR, an option to fast forward dialogue, and generally more depth in the dialogue and player character and choices there, VR VNs could really be viable. I think there is compelling reason to want to experience VNs in VR now, as long as they're done well.

The Quest is a standalone headset. It's a "VR Console". It's fully featured (unlike the Go) so theoretically any vr game can be ported to it, but it doesn't have the performance grunt of a pc and isn't designed to connect to one (there's flawed third party workarounds but I don't recommend counting on them if you're new to vr). The main reason you can't get a wireless pc headset is wireless can't handle the huge video bandwidth and low latency that a headset needs. The wireless adapters for the vive are basically an entire router strapped your head and they still have problems.

If you have a gaming pc, get a normal tethered headset - Rift S or a windows mixed reality or maybe index if you're a richfag and want to take the risk of new release hardware.
