Asgard's Wrath got me thinking.
VR presents an issue for VR games as to reach the fidelity of flat games they need much higher resolution textures. While the displays may lack the sharpness we want, we are looking at objects much closer than we ever would in a flat game. that room that only spans a monitor now fills your vision. every small flaw becomes massive.
Game file sizes have to be huge now, AW being 130gb. storage may be cheap be downloading is hell for a lot of people.

Depends on your controllers and what you're currently struggling with. If you're not able to read the upcoming notes and know where you need to swing next, then the only remedy is more practice. Try playing more maps that are well above what you can do in no fail mode. This will help you learn the common patterns present in higher level maps.
Aside from that if you know where to go but just can't get there in time then the biggest tip to move on from hard is to start using more in the lower arm. Use the biceps, wrists more than shoulders etc. Experiment with different grips on your controller to bring the center of mass closer to your wrist if necessary.
You want to position your arm to flow with the blocks so you can move faster. You need to snap through the blocks essentially. Think of it like throwing a virtual baseball, your arm can give you power and direction but the flick at the end is where most of the speed comes from.

Another point on Asgard's Wrath.
It is one of the most well balance games I have played in a very long time.
The normal difficulty is still very challenging so you can't let your guard down agents any enemy. No regenerating health so you will be drinking lots of potions. Expect to die a few times.
The economy is also incredibly balance. Money is always tight and you often come up short on loot to craft with, but getting enough for that next upgrade isn't so hard that it feels like a grind.

I'm so used to games that just load you down with money. and are either too easy or too hard. Everything is just right. In the interview that's something they said they paid special attention to and it shows.

Yes, the vrchat SDK for unity is a mostly drag and drop system for simple interactions, and you can use some of the built-in unity navigation and animation facilities as well. Simple escape room-style puzzles are pretty straightforward.

You can also hack in complex stuff (an anon here made a pretty faithful doom port), but it requires hacks upon hacks to do.

Hitscan sets the skill-cap at the same level as clicking the icon to start the game. Distance, speed, heading, nothing matters. Just click.

From my understanding, these games still had hitscan, but the hit detection was on the server at time of packet arrival. So, you had to lead your shots to the other players based on your own network latency to the server. newer lag compensated hit detection still performs the hit detection server-side, but the server rewinds its game state to what you saw on your screen when you hit the fire button, usually 50-100ms behind the server's latest state.

Assuming you're sticking an audio source on an avatar, vrchat adjusts the max volume on everything at runtime, so if you want it loud you have to trigger an animation to raise the volume. Peekers advantage doesn't seem consistent at all. I stopped trying to understand pavlov networking when I peeked an NA, started firing, and they turned around and instantly killed me with body shots. That's the thing I saw last night. I tried to go the the room of summer and the rainy bedroom, but everyone was just in their own corners talking with each other. There were real girls talking with boys naturally, and they're all off in separate corners doing that. It was really weird to see.

Does 80hz on the Rift S feel too low? I'm used to a 144hz monitor. In my experience, 75-90hz is already plenty but it could work differently for monitors that are glued to your eyes. What do you think?

It has this problem where you're supposed to do a motion but your hand in-game is just frozen - mostly magazines, you feel like you fucking rip them out, there's also a bug with resupplying where it spawns a magazine when I grip it, but have to pick it up with a trigger.
It does feel unresponsive at times, and the guns have shit sounds and lack certain mechanics (G36C absolutely has a fucking bolt release you can use with your trigger finger), but I still prefer it over Pavlov - it's not gamey - games actually balance weapons with reload times, Pavlov feels like those shitty Garry's Mod LUA weapons everyone was doing for the first couple of weeks, where the reloading was over before you finished pressing the R button.
