So far my experience with Quest+Link absolutely blows the CV1 out of the water.

There's nothing actually stopping that idea from working, really, other than heat issues from the laptop being inside a bag.

Laptops capable of driving a Rift S well are going to get hot while in use, so airflow is important and airflow is hard to come by in an enclosed space. If you can fix that? Well you'll own the world.

God I wish Oculus made a super high end headset. They could blow Index out of the water. But more importantly, I want something like Index and Knuckles except with Oculus' tracking system. The only thing keeping me back from getting an Index is because it would be a pain to take with me and set up and tear down since I'm rarely home and am always in a different place everyday.

If you're decent with a needle and thread you could make some airflow guiding tunnels in the sides of a backpack.

That's one of the reasons it's so front heavy. I imagine that what would they could do in the future is instead relocate all the internals, or at least as much of them as possible, to more the sides or top of the headset. My theory is that I started installing it in a custom folder, but some plugin installers don't allow you to change the folder so the software is probably not smart enough to detect everything considering how fucking ridiculous it is to have to run a fuckton of installers to begin with.

Fisherman here, I really think they are all worth playing, you can even play the first and its DLC in VR.
They don't take that long, and they have a lot of cinematic moments in first person, you are never not in control of Gordon.
With that being said, the real fun comes when you start looking what people have made with Hammer and such. There is basically infinite content to play thanks to Half Life. Not all of it is good, but it's all worth trying out.
Half Life is a real rabbit hole, I guess.

I'm personally having a really hard time enjoying my Index. It had been more than a month since I last used it, and I still can't get into it. I'm a little myopic, only -2.50 in both eyes, but I've got a pretty large head. When I would were the headset it would jam my glasses into my face no matter what; I dropped the money on ordering proscription lens inserts, but it while I can see an improvement over not wearing my glasses it's still not very good. Large sections of my vision are blurry, with only a small area that is actually sharp. I'm thinking I might buy some contacts (which I've never used before) to try seeing if that works better. this was just the beginning of the game. So far, not sure im digging the fact it's bouncing back and forth between hub and arena.

combat is kind of janky in the most amusing way. basically, its super easy to get enemies to ragdoll all over the place.

Also, just punching things is way more satisfying than using the weapons.

How is the rift S if your IPD is in the range it supports? Is it's digital adjuster still shit?
