Anyone knows how to apply object transforms in blender 2.80?
I'll try to be simple with an example:
I wanna add stuff from other avatars (hats, watches, clothes, etc), to another one, a friend told me (he still uses blender 2.79) that I have to select everything that I wanna add together once they are in the position I want them to be (in this case, a christmas hat), i've done that, then press CTRL + A, a new window will appear and i have to select and apply all posible transforms: Location, Rotation and Scale.
The problem is that after this step, i don't know what to do, what I wanna do is that both bones from the hat and the body merge together so if i click one, all the bones get highlighted.
Hope I explained myself correctly.

They didn't start with the same design. Oculus didn't have motion controllers at first, so their SDK likely was a little behind SteamVR on the input side. Then when they got motion controls, they actually had limited forms of finger tracking, which the Vive didn't really have. The actual problem here, and one you don't seem to have admitted, is that every single headset manufacturer has cucked to Valve and is a SteamVR device, except Oculus, which isn't a native SteamVR device (And yet still has the option of supporting it through a compatibility layer developed at their expense)

Everyone is paying Valve for the pleasure of being allowed to run steam titles on their headsets. Oculus didn't, therefore releases their titles without SteamVR, which means they can't release them on steam anyway, and they're the bad guys.

Well, yes, that's kind of what they want to do, and Steam wants you to not install or use Oculus software if they could have you do that. Since almost all games support SteamVR anyway, and most headsets work on SteamVR (without too much hassle), they don't need to take any actions. I had to actually re-pair it to my phone, despite it already being paired, and go through the entire initial setup process again, which itself was a pain because the process was hanging at every step until I held the power button to turn off the quest, then turn it on again. Repeat that for every step until finally it all just went "ding" and it's working fine.
My account is back on my Quest, all my applications and friends are still there and it's like nothing ever happened.

To explain the API/SDK war a little bit more:

Imagine what happens when Oculus opens their door to SteamVR games:
1. SteamVR applications go on the store
2. Less and less of those applications are built with the Oculus API
3. Everyone just develops for the SteamVR API because it's easier to use one and it MOSTLY just works for other headsets
4. People still do not buy those games, they keep to the Steam store
5. People who do buy those games on Oculus, if they are using an Oculus headset, will be more likely to encounter bugs and performance issues than if the game had used the Oculus API, because they have to go through the SteamVR runtime to have it translated to the Oculus runtime
6. In order to fix those issues, it's either on the developer, who may not give a fuck, or Valve, since they control SteamVR, and each update Oculus does to their runtime also means more likelihood that bugs and performance issues will pop up that they cannot necessarily fix without keeping back certain features and functionality (for instance, the Oculus API has the ability to have the developer submit a depth buffer so that Dash works better and for other stuff, but SteamVR didn't have that feature at the same time in the beginning, so Oculus users had to wait for SteamVR to update with that feature so that they could get those benefits)
7. To keep this issue from happening, they'd want to implement support for other headsets directly in their own runtime, but that would take too much effort since not all headset makers would want to help them, so they'd have to do it themselves, for every headset, but by the time they get all of this done, the market could have changed, and then...
8. OpenXR is finally released and replaces all the APIs, except no one uses the Oculus SDK and runtime anymore, and everyone uses a single proprietary runtime (SteamVR)

Yeah, having the compiled assets will help. Clear your vrchat cache, open the game once and load your avatar, close the game. Then you can find unitypackage under %AppData%/LocalLow/VRChat/VRChat/HTTPCache-WindowsPlayer/ . Open each file in a text editor like notepad++, you'll see HTTP headers at the top of the file. Find the one with `content-type: application/x-avatar`, Then delete all the HTTP header stuff, all the way to the line that starts with `UnityFS` (then a bunch of giberish) and save. tl;dr VRchat is about to upgrade to 2018 Unity. In 2018, objects can use a new "Constraints" component to inherit transforms (position, rotation, scale) from an object other than their own parent. It also allows you to freeze axis and change how much of that transform's weight they inherit, so they don't have to move 1:1. This is really useful for unusual avatars and extremely useful for game worlds because you can use offset transforms and matching colliders to perform game logic.

This can sort of be done at the moment with rigid bodies and fixed joints, but there's all kinds of problems and limits with that. Video related is the old method, joints can only be weighted 1:1, that's one of the problems. The old method is also used for most of the functional enemies, pickups and doors in VRchat Doom (and other game worlds) and why you might have noticed things like keys sometimes seem to break for no reason.

Currently in the vrchat beta Constraints aren't whitelisted, despite being a standard part of 2018 Unity. It's under review, so the devs are aware and listening to the votes and your voice matters. Please help.

For vrchat how do koikatsu models measure up to MMD? I take it koikatsu are pretty uniform in regards to polycounts and bones right?

Difficult and tedious to rip and set them up. Expect 10~20 hours for your first time. They are however cute, customizeable, lewd, perfectly weight painted and rigged.

MMD models are usually just one click in the CATS plugin to make them work in VRC. They come with entirely done textures that are easy to setup, a somewhat normal human and slim rig and you don't have to rip them with third party tools.

Koikatsu has an extremely buggy exporter to pmx (which is the formate most MMD models use). That destroys the textures in the process, often fucks up the rig and completely destroys all shapekeys. Doesn't take in account settings like iris size and more. So you also want to export all textures with ninjaripper which is a pain in the ass itself since they're .dds flipped upside down and you have a folder with 200 random names where you can search your shit together. And since koikatsu allows for user colours all of them are split in masks. So the purple cattail you have is actually not purple but grey and there's a mask you have to decompose to apply a color. And it's not even a proper texture, the details are in another image and have to be applied by eye to the original texture to even make it somewhat look alike.

So fare the best results I saw from Nabutso and Nynapi, you can ask them for help in the Discord if you joined.
