There's a reason why WMR is so cheap but I guess it's a cheap way to get your feet wet. People generally recommend only the Odyssey+ from WMR lineup and some complain about its controller tracking. Explorer (with controllers) may be worth it for real cheap but it is regarded as a low quality headset.

Immersion gets better the better gear you have: headset comfort, sound quality, screen, field of view, wirelessnes, controller quality, controller tracking, full body tracking.

Quest is great as it's self contained with PCVR option. I find it very comfortable, screen is good, it's wireless and has top tier controller quality and tracking. If you don't like it you can always sell it near retail price for some time as it will be a desirable headset. Explorer on the other hand is EOL and offers nothing over other headsets and will be considered no value garbage sooner or later.

To be fair if Steam Controller's features weren't exactly necessary on PC.
It filled a small niche which bluetooth keyboard and mice would probably fill too. It's not comfortable to use it instead of a regular controller for games meant for controllers, and it's usually not that great for games meant for K+M.
On consoles it would make a world of difference, especially with Steam's controller settings allowing you to customize it however you want. But console kiddies are braindead and would rather argue how controller is superior to K+M but then shit their pants from anger when you link them those Playstation K+M set-ups or ask about aim-assist.

Word of advice for any Quest owners who use Link on a windows10 machine;
Make sure you turn OFF win10's "Game Mode", what Game Mode does is automatically set non-game non-critical processes to below normal priority, which can stop background things from harming your game performance. HOWEVER, Oculus Link rendering is NOT linked to the game executable and Game Mode will happily put the priority down to the fucking ground, meaning it can look like you're playing a 240p youtube video even though the game in the mirror is playing flawlessly.

Turn off Game Mode and make sure the priorities for all the Oculus threads are set to normal. If your CPU is an older model setting them to high can actually improve Link performance slightly so it's worth a try.

How long does index (controller) replacement usually take? I send my controllers back almost 2 weeks ago. Package tracking said they arrived 3 days ago, I messaged steam support because they didn't notify me if they received them or already send replacement. It has been 2 days now and no response, what gives?
I doubt much will happen until weekend so that's two weeks without a $300 product BEFORE THEY EVEN SHIP REPLACEMENT
