Okay guys i'm about to jump ship on to vr for the first time and i'm stuck between a Rift S or Quest. I got a decent PC (RTX 2060 Super, I5 8400, 16gb ram)
Now the Rift S has better screens and better tracking and runs faster, but the quest is more mobile, has ipd adjustment and when the link cable comes will be able to be connected. Plus the quest gets hand tracking soon. My ipd is around 67ish i think, i'm going to the eye doctor for new glasses soon anyway. What also worries me on the quest is the compression of image via the link cable, and the worse image quality. I genuine dont know what to get.
Can any anons share experiences and reccomendations thanks.

okay so after a day with my first headset this is how I feel
1. Half of the amazement was just standing in a virtual room doing shit
2. I was easily able to play an hour and a half of IL2, but since it doesn't have controller inputs its kind of annoying, especially with so many keyboard bindings. I'm really regretting not getting my HOTAS out of storage last time I was at my parents place
3. I was only able to play about 30 minutes of the forest before I started getting quesy and had to put it down. I think I might have to learn how to set things up better. the snap turn was especially disorienting.
4. I was able to easily play 3 hours of ReSizeMe no problems.

Overall a good day.

I can see why VRchat would be a huge draw while ports of 2d games are not as popular.

I'm trying to refund right now. I know it's early access but the lack of variety is kinda lame. All the weapons kinda like they all just handle the same way. No benefit of say using a long sword over a war hammer or whatever, or vice versa, they both knock enemies over the same way. The only thing that really changes shit up is the bow.

I mean I did have some fun with it, I might pick it up again in the future when there's more meat to it. My problem with the game wasn't so much that it's difficult, I found the difficulty to be fine. It's that basically every fight boiled down to flailing my arms like a dumbass, I mean I know that's kinda to be expected with a sword fighting VR game, but combat doesn't really seem to have any depth beyond just fucking about, just about every weapons performs the same. Using a greatsword felt no different from using a maul, for example. The fact that I had so much difficulty with simply stabbing guys probably doesn't help, because 75% of the time my the tip of my blade slides off their body, so it kinda takes away the one thing that separates using a sword from using a hammer or axe.

I kept on going back to H3VR because for about the same price you get significantly more content and more varied gameplay. Like I've put a lot of hours into take and hold because, while I'm basically doing the same thing over and over, shooting hotdogs and capping areas, the variety of weapons spices it up. Some guns have their own quirks and whatnot that add challenge, some have more complicated reloading processes, then having to deal with things like manual action firearms, having flashbangs and other tools to use against enemies, shit like that.

I'm not a big fan of two-handed weapons others than sledgehammer or the spear. To be honest most of my playtime I either play with the bow, telekinesis, or two bucklers, two daggers, etc.
I've been having fun with Star Wars mods lately and look forward to extra spells more than anything so far. The game could use some better attack animations, it's especially jarring with Star Wars mods where they seem to think we're shooting a movie and they attack nowhere near where I am.
Just fucking with telekinesis is better fun than most other VR games I've played, doing little things like deflecting arrows mid-air or changing my grip on a dagger by throwing it up and grabbing it again to then put it in someone's eyeball is a great power fantasy. B&S managed to do what Boneworks tried and failed horribly at. It uses physics to make you feel more powerful than you really are, while Boneworks makes you play a basedboy.
