No, this likely wouldn't require "emitters" at all. Permanent magnets could provide the 'beacons' in the controllers, all the headset or base station would need to do is sense and interpret the fields. I suspect it'd depend on sensitivity and noise rejection.

The only problem is no one has actually proved yet that magnetic tracking in a consumer product can be good enough. The Razer Hydra drifted a lot and Sixense STEM was became vaporware. It might be able to be done, but since it hasn't, we need to see how it actually performs in real world usage first.

This cycle went on and I’m about to do it for the 4th time. My right speaker stopped working so I asked for a replacement. After waiting for it to get sent I received it, only for it to not work either. Currently in the process of sending the headset back for an RMA. This is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a product I’ve bought. I really don’t want to return it because I LOVE MY INDEX. But the fact that they haven’t updated their controllers thumb-sticks despite so many people having the same exact issue BOGGLES MY FUCKING MIND. I thought thumb-sticks were something we already had down. Never in my entire life have I experience thumb-stick drift on controllers I’ve bought even after YEARS of use. The average life span for me is about 3-4 weeks it seems. Please, PLEASE, fix you fucking controllers.

Hoooly god what a mistake it was buying the index. Imagine paying over $1000 and you're still waiting over a month later. I could have bought any other headset and i'd be weeks into enjoying it now, and they come with controllers that don't break from just moving the stick. This better be worth it valve.

Look, consider this: valve chose to make alyx vr-exclusive. If they were expecting it to be a big success, wouldn't they have they stocked up on headsets before? It'd obviously cause some kind of spike in sales, even if you can use other headsets to play it too.

So what did people think about Boneworks overall? I got it at launch and thought it was just like "Okay". It feels like one big tech demo more than anything, they may as well have not had a story, because by the end I still had no idea what was going on. The level of interaction is cool but gets old kinda fast, but having a simulated body makes a lot of the game feel so jank with your character getting stuck in shit and whatnot. I tried going back to the game after beating it, but couldn't really bring myself to want to play more. It feels like it's only really popular because people are desperate for some kind of dedicated single player experience for VR.

Knife need to give decent money for kills. Deagle and revolver do not deserve 16k for a single kill when they're easier to get a kill with than some SMGs. Maybe even 5-7 and Tec9 reduced a little so that 16k is for the real dogshit guns like emergency sidearm 1911 kills. Friday night gaming has been going swell, the new maps we tested out were hit or miss, the jungle map had to be the best one out of the bunch.
