That sounds like a controller config problem. Revive uses SteamVR mapping, so try using that to edit your controls.

We’re aiming to make widely different aesthetics per year. Performance wise this years map works real well specially in the trigger side. And considering there are more meshes this year that probably did it for a bit of a performance dip. Last year was more barren but honestly from testing its pretty performant. I was getting 45 fps with 30+ people in the room.

The platforms have weird areas that you can grip. You can for sure grip the round things in the corners. First you pull yourself up on the one nearest the wall, furthest from the crate. Then you walk back and forth to get to to swing closer and closer to the next one, then you grab that one and pull yourself up. Repeat until you reach the crate. It's slow and tedious. If I feel I don't think I would have tried again. You really have to pull yourself up slowly and make SURE you're gripping the top side of the platform before you start pulling.
