Please clarify how this particular thing disgusts you. Is it that everyone who gets within a certain radius of others becomes disgusting? So I bought a vive a few years ago and I've only started playing it and enjoying it more recently.
Should I upgrade to the index for the visual improvements and better hands or should I pull more mileage out of my vive?

Vive/index light houses + trackers is the best full body solution. Vive still decent but yeah that index clarity is a huge bonus. Basically no screen door effect comparatively. That said they're out of stock so you can't get the index right now anyway.

Depends, are you experiencing any sickness at all? I recommend giving it some time if you already have a headset, but if you feel fine and are adjusting well, upgrading to Index will make Vive seem like a child's toy.
As for FBT kits, $400 for 3 trackers and an hour or so searching straps never hurt anybody.

I'd wait on the Index for a while. It's still hard to get and there are still QC issues with the controllers.

Depends on what you think is reasonable. Kinect and PS Move are cheaper, but pretty janky. Vive trackers are kinda expensive for what you're getting, but they're still the only good option.

Wooden poker update: I ran into a bizarre udon bug as I expected I suppose. After ramming my head against it for a while, it turns out you can't reliably toggle Rigidbody.isKinematic on objects with Udon's "synchronize position" on; It'll just force the kinematic setting back to what it originally was on the gameobject (whether on or off). So, what would have been a nice strategy for fixing the shuffle sync won't work until they fix it. Back to the drawing board. I think maybe slowing down the shuffle might work; it's possible that's what the tanki author already discovered.

You can try turning colliders off temporarily, as well, I'm not too familiar with rigidbodies just the shit i hastily googled last night honestly, Lavender dev might have some cool ideas maybe ill try to bring it up with him and see if he has any big brain solutions hes pretty experienced in unity, also your tiles feel very thick and the gaps between tiles isn't really needed, i just thought that might help sliding issues.

I was playing beer pong in vr with my drinkin crowd, what happens is things arent teleporting, theyre just moving VERY fast, so you can see this because when you can draw a line between the ball, and ball respawn, it'd nuke a cup or two on the way back.

Forgot to say, yes normal maps are possible. I guess you could run the tiles.png through material awesomebump and see what it spits out.

So I got a hack workaround for the isKinematic thing now. Instead of trying (and failing) to set kinematic, instead I turn off collisions, enable a constant force of 9.81Y to counteract gravity, and crank up the drag to have essentially kinematic rigidbodies. Then the tiles can float through eachother while you wait for vrchat's incredibly slow network sync to work. I honestly think it's packet-related, like their server gets spammed with all the now changed rigidbodies, and starts to drop them, so the client slowly backs off and retries.

It's still not a 100% thing that it'll shuffle correctly, but in the world now, there's a "Toggle Physics" capsule above the "Shuffle" capsule. If you toggle that off (red) before shuffling, then they'll drift through eachother; wait like a minute, then togle it back on and all the players _might_ be in sync. No way for the master to tell reliably though, and sometimes they look fine on the client, but then explode when network is back on. Give it a try.

Lenovo Explorer. I didn't realize how much better things are. The HMD is still comfy, and the tracking isn't that much worse, I beat HLA with it. No real complaints honestly.

It's just so many things that are better as a whole. When 8 or 9 small things are nicer it really adds up.

I get framerate nauseous, and I figured that's what it was since I recorded moments I would feel woozy and that's when the framerate dropped below 75-80hz. The 144hz option is the greatest thing, I almost got a Rift S but saw the 80Hz and fucking noped out of that shit. The Rift S doesn't really look like much of an upgrade. More like a Sidegrade, I guess that's what the S stands for.

There's a lot to be excited about, this shit was fun unboxing because it really felt "premium" (it's stupid but whatever) and it has a much more solid build. The tracking is also fucking great too. Didn't realize I spent so much time making sure my hands are in my face at all times. A bunch of songs I played in Beat Saber are much easier because I don't have to move my face to make sure the sabers are always in eyesight. That's the biggest problem I had with the tracking, not that it was bad. Just limiting.

The HMD also feels more balanced so wearing it for longer isn't a concern anymore, I don't get slight neck pain when going ham. However the only issue I have with it is my glasses don't fit inside it. The lenses are much closer to the eyes (even adjusted it doesn't help) and I don't want to scratch the lenses so I ordered lenses to put in there. However the much higher FOV is nicer. So once I get working eyeballs I'll be able to talk about the clarity of the screen. No SDE if everything is blurry I guess.

You're confusing framedrops with consistent FPS. In the first place, the Lenovo headset and most displays can't dynamically switch to different refresh rates. It's locked to 90. So you get issues similar to slow panning scenes in movies (23 fps) that stutter horribly on your monitor if you're not hitting the full framerate. When the system can't generate the full native framerate, it has to take old frames and that results in stutters. Your eyes and brain are following the scene smoothly and suddenly it moves in a way your brain doesn't expect (the stutter). That's what caused motion sickness. There is little scientific evidence that suggests a consistent 80 FPS on an 80 Hz headset causes appreciably more motion sickness than a consistent 90 FPS on a 90 Hz headset.

I have a windows mixed reality now, and I know what you mean about keeping your hands in front of your face all the time. It feels like my arms are in casts or something, if I don't keep them just in sight my arms flip out. I'm so excited to not have to worry about that anymore. It feels really cheap and plasticy, it overheats super fast and it's really blurry almost all the time if i don't tighten it to the point of my head starting to hurt. I got it because people here called it a trial headset and it was cheap. And just recently, whenever I plug earbuds into the headphone jack, it screams really loud static into my ears whenever a sound was supposed to play. I thought the earbuds were defective, but after a bunch of testing I found out it's just the headset. VR itself felt really promising, but the WMR felt like a nightmare.
I'm really really excited to jump to the best experience from something like this...hearing that it's just as good as I hope it is makes me feel nice.

SteamVR does have a feature that dynamically changes the resolution based on the framerate. Did you monitor your fps while testing it? Are you sure you were dropping frames?
It's also possible that the way they handle motion reprojection (a feature that tries to take old frames and modify them so that they feel more like new real frames) is better than how WMR does it these days. Or it could be that your WMR wasn't working correctly, since reprojection is theoretically supposed to mitigate most stuttering from framerate issues.

Should be fine to update so not sure what's going on there. I'd suggest backing up your custom songs then uninstalling/deleting your folder. Then grab the latest mod assistant and there really shouldn't be an issue. Make sure you have 1.9 selected at the bottom. Just remember that it's not a VR game but a game with VR added on. The only things that feel like they were modified to work better in VR are the vehicles and even then the virtual controls don't always feel natural. It comfortable enough to sit down to play for long sessions since the game was made with PSVR in mind.
As for the gamepplay, it's improved in many areas and lots of new content was added but it's still just a resource grind to get more resources to get a base to get more resources to get a better ship to get more resources to do... nothing. That's the thing. Weight isn't always the measure of health, especially here. I'm over 300 lb, 6'2, but I lift weights and I can go 4-8 hours standing easily in any shooter. Just cleaned up my Rift S after a few weeks of use. I mean I maintained it daily by using a fibrecloth to wipe the lenses after each use or while using because the lenses just get nasty, but damn do we as humans leave small bits of skin behind. Took the entire cover off and behind it were tiny white specs. Everything cleaned but damn when you wipe the lenses the follicles get pushed in the small area between the crevices of the lenses. I tried using air pressure and it got most out but damn I can already tell in a year this thing is going to look rough. The shitty fucking foam is awful on your skin. Feels like you're rubbing your face with sand paper after a while and with my sensitive skin it leaves some red marks every time. Soaks up sweat too, even if you're as careful as me.

That all said about how nasty it is do you guys have any suggestions for extra covers to buy in advance from amazon.co.uk? Something that is a package would be nice and no more than 30-50 area. Mainly what I'd like to know is if you guys have experience on the different covers: Cloth vs silicone for example, over long periods of use. Also grips would be nice if they were in the package so that these battery covers don't fly off in beat saber.

i have a vrcover for my go and a silicone cover for my quest. the vrcover works great but the quest version doesn't look nearly as comfortable to me so i don't know if it would be worth it. i bought a cheap silicone cover off ali to stop soaking the fabric in sweat and it works at that, as well as prevent the headset from shifting but it's not all that comfortable. 3d printed grips are better than silicone as you can /diy/ your own index style grips

the vrcover for the quest is plu leather and it's the most comfortable i've used so far. because the silicone grips skin a bit there's a slight abrasion, i usually don't have to worry about sweating excessively so there's just a slight sheen when i take it off

For Public worlds, avoid the popular filled ones. Go to smaller populated worlds where it's more chill.
I enjoy changing my nameplaye to green, then go to avatar worlds and speak to new users looking for a piedestal avatar. Trying out some avatars and laugh about it.
Or go to community world pubs. The public world probably have the map creator in it. That also gives you something to talk about.
