Bloom post processing makes things glow or you actually need to put light emitters on it, i think future versions of unity lets you use actusl light emitting textures but they might be for static objects in baked lighting scenarios only.
Slap on post processing in editor to get bloom so you can demo how it will look when you go to a good map that is dark and also has bloom enabled

The only way you'd get that is by literally attaching point lights to your feet, but don't do that. The more realtime light sources that are in a scene, the more taxing it is on you and everyone around you.

The hacky way to do it is add a couple cameras to your scene, each rendering to a render texture, attached to your headset rig with some eye separation you think is right and whatever FOV you want. Then add a quad to your scene, using a custom material and shader that 1. billboards the quad to the entire view in the vertex shader i.e.screenspace, and 2. in the fragment shader, read both render textures (left/right eye) and lerp between the two using unity stereo left/right variable. Change the render queue of the shader to as high as it goes so it renders on top of everything

It'll triple your draw calls since you're rerendering the scene once for each eye again, and overwriting the"real" view, but should be fine for a personal project.

Not a great graph that matches the reality of what's actually developing or will develop. In reality we're in a combination of all first 4 panels.

Wooden poker dev update: I fixed a few edge cases with the physics sync. Due to the implementation, only the 4 players at the table that hit the "sort tiles" button will have their local tiles synced to other players. So, I disabled the box colliders (and thus pickups) on the tiles for all other clients until you hit the 'sort tiles' button. One side effect is that spectators can't mess up the game in progress anymore. They can of course go and hit the "sort tiles" button themselves and take over the game, but I plan on implementing a locking system so only the owner can relinquish their seat and control of the tiles (or master can relinquish it for them).

This was more interesting than adding actual scorekeeping, but I'll get to that eventually too.

Also added a toggle for the "can't learn japanese" tile faces that anon made last thread, and made the initial tile setup prettier.

The most important part of map making optimization is the occlussion culling. You have to deliberately make it so people only see parts of your map at any given time. Depends on how long you're talking about. Boneworks and Walking Dead were both pretty good too. Pistol Whip is fun if you like rhythm stuff. Asgard's Wrath and Stormlands are nice if you've got an Oculus headset or you're willing to deal with Revive.

VR still has a relatively small install base, so it's hard for niche stuff to find a lasting audience.
Most multiplayer games just don't have lasting appeal, and the ones that do usually don't have enough content to keep people around anyways.
Also, some games do just suck in ways that make it really frustrating to play even when you otherwise like it, Onward and Contractors suffer from that pretty badly and Pavlov is just about there for me too.
The only way to stop it is to get a lot more people into VR and get bigger developers who can properly support a game into VR, but that's just going to take time.

Final Assualt is okay but poorly balanced and 1v1 only. Air is basically irrelevant because not all leaders have bombers and the regular dog fighters don't do shit to anything other than infantry and other planes so you can't use them to break stalemates or snipe unguarded objectives. I'm not sure what was wrong with the original code, but I added a backstop. If you toggle the english tiles on and off again, it _should_ also reset the material property block on the tiles and correct the tile faces. Give it a try when you get a chance.

Other than that I replaced the ugly center thing with another beveled cube folded 1000 times in blender, and made all the tiles very shiny. This broke the discard camera, since the orthographic projection on it washed out all the tile faces. After some trouble though I figured out that you can set a replacement shader on the camera component from udon, so I can render the tiles unlit in the camera. It's nice to know that udon still lets access a whole bunch of unity APIs.

Though in case anyone was wondering, I did try a few hacks to try to get access to the Player rig and gameobjects by walking up the Transform parent hierarchy and back down again. It seems that udon has some sort of basic security check that throws an exception with no message if you try to access certain gameobjects. A shame, but makes sense I suppose.

If a genius manages to make object sync updates to only happen when you are near a table. And better yet, reduce the physics update tick rate from every frame to every 2-3 seconds or so except for objects directly held by players, then it'll be possible.

I've got a PSVR at the moment that I only use for Beat Saber on PS4, and iRacing on PC.

Literally the only two games I give a shit about, with the exception of maybe Alyx when it eventually drops in price. I really want to play custom songs on Beat Saber on PC, but don't want to fuck with the janky camera set up to use my PSVR and Move controllers.

I hear people suggesting a cheap WMR headset instead for Beat Saber on PC, and the Lenovo Explorer is only like $300 AUD with the controllers and all included. I'm not expecting Vive level of tracking, but is it accurate enough for Beat Saber to be enjoyable?

Yeah. I never had any issues clearing Expert+ custom songs, but you might have some issues if you ever get into the really hard stuff. I'd still recommend you find something better if you can, but it'll work if you just want something cheap.

I know it's an effect due to the lens so the most I probably can do is get it as centered as possible, but there's no perfect angle I can find. It doesn't bother me that much, but I'm hoping someone's thought of a clever solution.

If you find the sweet spot (for both eyes) it helps a lot, but won't eliminate it entirely. Try closing one eye and adjusting the headset until you're in the sweetspot, and do the same with the other to get an idea of the rough location - Should make fitting it a bit easier later. Obviously reducing brightness through advanced settings or otherwise will help too.
That said, there will always be some glare and the amount depends on your headset and the lenses inside - I think Oculus have the best lenses but it's still noticeable in a Rift S. If you use prescription lenses that will also add more glare along with chromatic aberration.
