They usually have an update log on the models page for all fixes/new things etc, and then you just go download the newer revision of it from the download page. I've had two models that I've bought that had unexpected updates where they added in new variations/outfits to the original which was pretty cool. I can't get comfortable with the grip no matter how I adjust the controller input mapping. Maybe I just have too big hands as I can't seem to get comfortable adjustment with the straps either. The trigger is shitty too and everybody knows about the thumbstick.

It's been a while since I gamed with Index Controllers as what little I play VR nowadays, I use wands, but yeah, pretty much everything about them sucks. They're a cool gimmick, but they're not a very good game controller, and that's before thumbstick drift.
I sometimes press the grip buttons accidentally on wands, but I'm always sure when the buttons are depressed or press, unlike Index. Tactile feedback is important, finger tracking is not perfect, so why bother with it at all if it just makes you feel like you had a stroke.
I'm waiting for some breakthrough before I dive back into VR again. This whole generation needs to end up in a landfill.

There are a couple procedural generation maps out there yeah. You have full access to the unity Mesh interface, so you can generate triangles and UVs. However, you don't have access to Texture, so you'll have to do your texture generation in shaders (which is generally more efficient anyway than cpu texture gen).

You won't have access to dynamic unity terrain either, which is mainly a bummer if you want decent terrain collision (e.g. for vehicles). So you'll need to assemble the collision geometry from primitives as well.

Alright. I can probably start with something simpler using a bunch of pieces of track meshes and have the logic LEGO it together as you go so the map doesn't take forever to load as it pieces together a 2-3min long high speed track. Maybe even get lazy about it and not care for impossible tracks (it generating sections that overlap) and hide any blocks that are more than 5 blocks behind. Don't think I can make it hide players/vehicles also in that nature though to prevent accidental collisions.

Stand-alone game. Existing owners of regular Superhot should be getting a free couple in a couple days. I grabbed it during early access years ago since it was cheap and I needed a fix.

It's Superhot gameplay with randomly selected levels, with gameplay modifiers you can select, such as always starting with a katana, having an extra hit (normally 3 hits and you have to restart your overall progression on that series of levels), richochet bullets, etc.

After many hours of tuning, my heartbeat map demo is ready. I've added a lot of things for testing different controllers and to account for different hearts. In the video, you see me place the index controller on the skeleton. That is about where you should place yours when you want to detect your heartbeat. The filter is now much better than before because I switched from using degrees to using angular velocity for detection. That makes it much faster at detection and recovering from an accidental beat.

Q for the folks fluent with Udon: Is the node manager more elegant to manage a scene's interactions/animations/etc vs. the mess of triggers upon triggers upon triggers on any given object in the scene?

Nothing I hate more than the amount of components stacked on a given actor in a scene for what SDK2.0 requires.

I wouldn't call unity C# easy to learn, but it at least has a ton of documentation and tutorials on it on the web, unlike the udon-specific stuff, which you basically have to lurk the vrchat and udonsharp discords for any knowledge.

You can structure your programs to mostly avoid having to mess with unity's scene hierarchy and paper over annoying parts with editor scripts, but you can't avoid the nature of unity completely. ECS overall isn't a bad idea, learn to embrace the good parts I guess.

Right now I'm still trying to look into Unity docs/guides on how I should be setting up a scene with regards to prefabs, and how I should be combining or separating elements of a scene either for drawcall purposes or occlusion. I was under the impression they assisted with instancing/batch calls, or at least saving me having to apply it to every mesh within a package individually. What I do need to find is something to make Unity's 3d viewer fucking sane to use, christ. Positioning Empties in it to use for triggers is the worst.

We have a bunch of experience on this here. Map makers abound from /vrg/.
Basically what you want to do is setup good occlusion terrains or occlusion walls. That's the best way of doing this as well as flagging as Static everything that you know won't be moving. That alone will save you a lot of performance.

By occlusion terrain or blockers basically any collider mesh that would block out most other things. Imagine hills separating the two towns or place. Imagine a big wall separating one side and the other.
When you bake Occlusion that will make it so that you don't really render what's on the other side since it's not in the view of your camera FOV.
Another trick is to bake your lights and have no active dynamic light source when possible.

A more advanced form of frame saving is LOD or Load On Distance. This feature is something you can use by setting up lower poly meshes of the same thing that will load depending on the distance. This is basically all of those mesh pieces that you chuck into the same prefab that progressively goes down in detail the farther you are from it.

Unity automagically calcs that for me? Am used the old mapping days of Quake3/Source-engine where you manually had to portal your scene out so the engine knew which sections of the map to hide based on where you blocked your portals out.

The default angle makes it a lot harder to get good cut scores on fast streams in custom songs, since your wrists bottom out before max angle. It's pretty much irrelevant until you get to the 150pp level or so, i.e. when you realize the actual way to play beat saber is to flick laser points through blocks with wrist movements instead of trying to be actually swing your arms.

It's a consequence of how beat saber scoring works. If you try to "full swing" your way through the high level custom songs, it's basically impossible to move fast enough to get through the notes, much less keep it up for 5 minutes.

There's definitely a contingent that think that the custom song meta and flapping your wrists to speedcore weebshit is not playing the game correctly. You're free not to play that autistic game, but if you want the pp, you gonna want to change those saber angles.

Don't let your brain register the headset = poison. You will build up tolerance over time.

We have a bunch of experience on this here. Map makers abound from /vrg/.
Basically what you want to do is setup good occlusion terrains or occlusion walls. That's the best way of doing this as well as flagging as Static everything that you know won't be moving. That alone will save you a lot of performance.

By occlusion terrain or blockers basically any collider mesh that would block out most other things. Imagine hills separating the two towns or place. Imagine a big wall separating one side and the other.
When you bake Occlusion that will make it so that you don't really render what's on the other side since it's not in the view of your camera FOV.
Another trick is to bake your lights and have no active dynamic light source when possible.

A more advanced form of frame saving is LOD or Load On Distance. This feature is something you can use by setting up lower poly meshes of the same thing that will load depending on the distance. This is basically all of those mesh pieces that you chuck into the same prefab that progressively goes down in detail the farther you are from it.

beat saber is more or less mandatory, the only game aside from VRC with significant replayability, even if you don't like rhythm games it's very enjoyable unless you're competitive
for shooters, Pavlov is the biggest by far with a significant regular community here and elsewhere+fairly active modding community (nowhere near any desktop game, though,) followed by the more hardcore Onward and the dead Contractors

Only thing I will say is, Blender Guru's tutorial stuff is typically for rendering use, not game use, especially with his hard-on for subsurf and smooth bevels. Just keep that in mind as you further your learning of the software. Still similar workflows, just different approaches needed at times to handle X cases so you aren't added an excessive number of polygons in the process.

For example, a doughnut for ingame, sprinkles would be baked as a normal map and just pasted on top of the icing, and the icing would just be physically part of the doughnut model vs. a solidified mesh sitting on top.

index is purely a PC headset, so no need for any sideloading nonsense like quest, you can write raw openXR api code, or use an engine, or even webXR and javascript. Valve has released literally nothing for using the frunk or the index cameras officially though, so if you want hand tracking, quest is really the only game in town. Leap motion does technically work with index, but development is completely dead.

It wont be enough light. You might be able to see the room but the cameras cannot if the room is not decently lit. I have tested this with both a Rift S and Quest. Non inside-out-tracking Headsets with light houses don't have this issue because they operate on the same principle that this anon said >>299573859

Yes that's literally what it does. You want the ones that CCTV's use and one that comes with a power adapter so you can actually plug it into an outlet.

It's pretty fucking flawless. Had to turn off SSAO as I don't think it likes canted displays but it hardly made a visual impact. Performance was a bit on edge but not too bad.
The mod has full motion tracked controllers and even tools that toggle by touch. You would never no it was a modded in VR.

Googlefu is failing me. Anyone know a sane way of transferring bone weights on part of a mesh from one armature to an identical armature? Had to import something from a less fucked-up prior save which included its armature+weights, and trying to merge this all together.
