The issue is, because the way the general is currently structured is that the thread and discord is so divided that most of the discord users treat the thread like a joke. The fact that you have an identity and reputation you have to protect or otherwise be tarnished is so far from what originally began as an anonymous meetup that it is so far removed from what was originally a simple meetup it is quite literally parroting a reddit page or any other non anonymous forum. I am not against discord as a tool. Sure its easy to set up and keep in touch and there is nothing wrong adding friends in vrchat, but creating a discord *group* is when it takes that to the extreme. To be honest at that point because everything is concentrated into one group where you are responsible for what you say it causes fear of speaking out because why would you want to risk social suicide online when you already have irl? I am pretty sure it's why the first group got deleted but we can see now that it will never go away because there will always be some power hungry attention starved anon willing to jump in to fill the vaccum to become the new discord leaderfag.
