With Avatars 3.0, how would you change the texture of a material via an animation you can toggle? I wanted to have gag eyes that would work by simply changing the texture of a set of verts in front of a face rather than a shapekey set to throw on of several set of verts in front of the face.

Is it significantly more efficient to use shape keys to toggle clothes than to use separate meshes? With shape keys, you have less skinned meshes, but the clothes/verts still gets rendered.

With seperate meshes, you have more meshes but disable the meshes, so they don't get rendered at all.

I would say having more meshes is better then shapekeys in this scenario.

In general, just be medium or better rank and it's all good. As long as you don't go out of your way to performance grief(fur shader etc)

What's the best way to get something to stretch between each hand and a head? I've thought about weight painting it to the head and each hand but I want it to be roughly tube shaped and that does weird things when my hands rotate. The plan is to use the hands as anchor points and then pull the object away from them with the mouth like I'm ripping it out with my teeth. I've seen people make a bow string in a similar fashion where they've got a single vert connected to the wrist and each end of the riser and it looks fine but there's no need for texture detail or retaining topology on a string that thin.
I'm tempted to can the whole idea of this avatar because of this one hiccup.
