It's not the fault of others, it's just that really is no point trying to impose yourself on them and expect them to do all the work. For my situation, my few real life friends are all I have left and it feels like I might as well try to keep that friendship alive despite the obvious clues it's dying, at least we have something in common

again, I don't think we're talking about the same thing. I'm not talking about anxieties or any other kind of mental states that prevent you from talking. Maybe some come as a product of this deeper issue but I did not want to focus on them. I don't have a problem with talking to people, just today I've visited some folk I've never talked to before and while most of the stuff they talked about was the good old times 40 years ago and some activies I've no idea about I didn't feel anxiety, just kind of dumb I had nothing to contribute aside from a few comments here and there. But this is a one time thing, or a rare occasion that won't be repeated in a while, there was no incentive to bother. VRChat is different as you're the one coming over there willingly, hoping to gain something that might make you feel better, but instead all you got is more disappointment in yourself as you realize you had to invest something you don't have first.
In short: imagine being the most boring person imaginable (at least in vr world) and try to talk about something while having almost no opinions or knowledge on any of the topics being presented to you. Maybe a result of this state is some anxiety but I wouldn't classify that as a disorder.
The solution to this might seem simple: just learn about something lmao, just get a hobby bro, just watch some movies dude. I wish it was that simple, but I just find it to be like the cycle of depression.

anyone else feel like gmod vr / vrmod is criminally underrated as a tool? theoretically any gmod / source based game could be turned into VR with this no? if you can port L4D maps and weapons and infected into gmod, you could play entire L4D campaigns in VR right? you can already basically play all of HL2 in VR in gmod, why aren't people exploring this more? Alyx seems very limited with the mods so far, it all just plays like.. alyx. There's a treasure trove full of old source mods and games that could probably get working in VR with some tweaking

i briefly tried to play HL2 in VR through gmod. it just felt too jank to be worth it, with stuff like the turrets totally bugging out. Granted, I was also playing with one of the co-op HL2 campaign mods which adds its own level of jank on top of VR.

I never was big into gmod multiplayer in its heyday though, so I'd be willing to try out some more gmod VR stuff more proven than the HL2 coop campaigns.

it definitely has some jank, no denying that. run speed is way too fast, hand models are too low res, etc. but also it was one mod made by one guy with not a whole lot of tweaks besides a few gun mods and such. i just feel like a team of modders could pretty easily put together a VR L4D mod or some custom HL2 style campaigns where you fight combine / headcrab zombies with the wealth of existing assets available. moddb is full of cool custom HL2 campaigns that dont have turrets or anything that might bug it out, i used to play a lot of them and it would be fun to revisit them in VR.

Wouldn't recommend it if you ever intend to return. I left for a significant amount due to fairly serious real life reasons but I didn't tell anyone that. I later found out that in my absence, rumors about petty reasons had immediately started which no-one bothered to check for authenticity with me and just took as fact. It's quite something how people you've known for a year or more are willing to shit on you at the first chance when you aren't there to defend yourself. When I finally returned, no-one asked where I'd been. One person who knew I was having difficulty coming back spoke to me for about 30 seconds then left me at the spawn, and said nothing when they didn't see me again for weeks. Others made sarcastic comments about 'leaving forever' which I never even said was my intention. Some who never contacted me throughout suddenly started asking for things from me when I was back; zero concern for me in a time of need, but more than willing to take from me whenever. It's difficult to trust people when you've seen their true nature like that.

How important is IPD when it comes to vr? I recently learned mine is 72.5 and the facebook rift cv1 only goes up to 70. I was considering getting a quest 2 for wireless vr, but that only goes up to like 68 ipd. Any big guys have a quest 2? do you feel any eye strain or anything?

someone had set up a room with the main instance on a stream player, but the IK in the main instance was shitting out for a lot of people there
all you would need to do is open registrations a week before, have the judges and 10 contestants in a lightweight, 20mb world with a player limit of 9, and invite people in/get them to leave in a predetermined order
then you could stream to 2-4 buffer instances, with halloween festivities on those maps

This is such a big problem for me when it comes to certain players that I have to change my playstyle to try to counter it, otherwise they'll round a corner and do 5 shots of damage by the time I get 1 shot off. If I know those players are alive on the enemy team I have no choice but to be stealthy, jiggle long angles where I can't be rushed or hold the same angle as a teammate to magnify our firepower.
