I had a hunch what the problem might be once I realize it's not related to my GPU or CPU at all. See, when I open up my SteamVR menu I see the virtual Index controllers moves super smoothly, like 144 FPS to match the refresh rate. So I kept asking why does the in-game graphics slow down so drastically. I closed VR Chat and SteamVR, verified the integrity on both. Nothing wrong. Reinstalled both anyway. Tested and the game run like shit still. It would however run well in my home world when _I_ was the only person in the room. Then it clicked. I then fixed it.

For small stuff, meshroom is the free state of the art. Here's a pretty good scan I got of a pumpkin, with 125 shots of a phone camera. Not perfect still; I did retopology with Instant Meshes, cleaned up a few holes manually, baked the original texture on to the low-poly version (didn't bother baking normals because it was too lumpy). I had to use the clone brush in blender to fix up the dark part of the texture as well.

If you have a real camera instead of just a phone, I think meshroom works better. I was getting poor results on phone camera until I fixed the focal length/exposure settings.

I have a VRC friend that gets mad at me when I try to give advice to them. I'm really not experienced with giving advice, so I don't really know what to say to them. I try to help to the best of my ability so I ask if they have done simple advice (like basic troubleshooting, the equivalent of "have you tried turning it on and off again" but for advice) and they get offended or something and insult my intelligence for asking them if they've tried that.
Was I supposed to assume that they already have? But what if I miss something? Aren't I supposed to gather what has and hasn't already been tried in order to figure out what might have been overlooked?
Am I being stupid and missing something that's supposed to be common sense? Is this normal?
