So I found how to drive a tank in Pavlov (except T-34) and while the controls are a bit wonky, it's pretty fun. Weapons are nice too, but M1 Carbine, Grease Gun and Trench Gun are missing. Sounds could use some improvement too.

Evening, VRbros. I thought I might show off my movement system prototype I've been working on for a few weeks now.
The movement system works with a two-tiered system between walking and running. Walking is performed by simply using the joystick. The forward direction is dictated by your general upper-body, so you can look around a bit while still walking forward.
Running works by using the joystick + pumping your arms up and down. While running, your forward direction is your head direction for added precision.
The entire system runs off of Unity's new XR toolkit and Input system so it'll work with all SteamVR headsets as well as Quest.

I prefer the games where if you clip your head into the collision geometry, you depenetrate the player on the opposite direction, so you end up pushing the world back with your head. It does get weirder in the Y axis though; I just don't like it when the view completely blanks out with no indication of how to get back into allowed space.

Don't get it unless you only want to play seated sims, and even then you might as well save the money. If you can find at least a second sensor and controllers for ~$60 the total kit might be worth it. The achilles heel of the cv1 is the cable, so if that's in bad condition it's not worth it.

There was some quirky vr that's coming out or is out posted here many threads ago it had some zany colourful characters and pretty sure there was Japanese text in the title maybe not

My quick review on my Q2 that arrived 2 days ago:

It's great, played some quest demos such as first contact etc and really smooth and impressive, especially tracking.

Then moved onto budget cuts with VD. My motherboard wifi6 was great but the hitches were headache inducing, but fast at 1200mps. My 5g at 860mps did really well. Planning to get a wifi6 because I feel it's just what it's missing atm.

The default strap is trash but I can use it for 2-3 hours. On a hot summer day the q2 feels like a hot laptop on your head and my hours spent in it reduces.
I have 2 10000mAh powerpacks and eat through them somewhat quickly, I put them in my pocket while I wait for my better strap, not that ideal as it gets warm. Q2 does feel to need a counterweight to the back of the head, but not crucial. 5g was enough for budget cuts PCVR, maybe some black screen edge glitches now and then, meh honestly. I use comfy k701s and don't notice anything on my ears, would recommend for most long term wear (no bass though). I'm running a 980ti so it's ok graphics?, can't say much for SSampling, but happy really. The fit pack was crucial because I have a big head and the wide fit was perfect. Measuring at 64-65 ipd I didn't notice the screen edges at level 3 ipd, I mean they are there, like 1 nano pixel on length, never notice it in any game. FOV is like scuba goggles, but honestly doesn't phase me, still feel immersed. 3080 coming in so Im avoiding any real games for now. Didnt buy any link cable, wireless A-OK(for now... for some games don't like WIFI I heard ). Wireless is great, I can utilise my 5x3m area to do roomscale and run and hide in, again, budget cuts. Fun

Probably wrong here but:
A few blurry reasons
Weak GPU card,
Bitrate low meaning the game auto reduces your quality maybe ,,, and or weak wifi signal from your 5g.
The 'sweetspot' is small, many seconds of fiddling around with the strap etc and I could find some level of clarity I was happy with, I also see some blurriness in certain scenes.
But I could see why people never could reach the sweet spot, such as ipd being some wierd inbetween of ipd levels, and maybe depending on what face fit they have..

Some earlier q2 models meant that the quality was lucky dip, and there's a post on Reddit where people just received apparently straight up shitty lenses. There's some isolated text test that you can do to check if you also have something like that, forgot exactly buy there's some Reddit threads. I never bothered to check, myself.

I bought both . It's a stealth game, and I went in completely blind, relying on it popularity with a friend.

It has a portal 1 vibe, it's only been a weekend so I did only 5 hours of it,
There's a lot of roomscale stuff such as crawling physically in ducts, Bobbing your head down to not get seen, lots of squats and can give you a mild workout if you do have a nice space at least 4m^2 otherwise I find myself hitting against objects frantically trying to survive

Im not good at selling it, but I do want to finish it, it's been pleasant, it has soul.

Western devs adapting vrm support fucking when. It's literally designed to be the VR avatar standard format. I'm tired of either generic bland single colour hologram sphere head and hands, or installing separate versions of unity and downloading dev kits to set up avatars. Select edges on one that looks the most square-ish and scale them on each axis to 0 so it becomes a perfect square. Once you've done that select your perfect square first and then select everything else and right click, follow active quads and it should lay everything out flat.

There's also an addon called UVsquares that basically does it for you.

this was with displayland, a defunct phone application where the mesh was generated from a video. It was quite convenient even if the results were lumpy. meshroom still works fine too, just not as convenient of a pipeline. Using the 3d scan as a template and doing regular poly modeling will get you the cleanest results of course, it can also look pretty sterile compared to the wealth of lumpy detail you get from a 3d scan. Thoughts on my "climb to top" trigger system near the end of the video? To my knowledge, there are no games that have that. Climbing is easy, but pulling yourself up onto a surface can often be tricky in a lot of games. This is my solution.

That's a pretty good way of setting it up. I know a lot of times the pulling up part is finicky and I've fallen many times thinking I'm up but the game says no. Hopefully something that doesn't need to have the visual representation but can become an intuitive action.

I can get 144hz on most games on a 1070ti, and I personally prefer even 72hz with reprojection to 144hz to native 120 or 90 on other games, but ymmv. You can check the steamvr performance graph and if you can get frames out in under 6.9ms, then you can maintain a full 144hz.

From what I have played, this game is the best Co Op VRFPS.
