NA needs to step it up, every other region hosts several times, in a literal sense, more stuff than we do even though we are supposedly a larger group. Only thing new in months has been the intermittent Vox lobbies. And in all games that get hosted ITT you'll always see the same dozen or so people including the moonlighters.
If it weren't for the meetups I'd assume that there were max 20-30 anons from NA even here at all. Which leads me to perpetually question who all these people at the vrc events are and why they never join thread lobbies for anything -ever-.
How can you get VR and only play vrc to chat at meetups I just don't understand.

As someone who frequents both NA and EU timezone stuff outside of the usual pavlov stuff I can honestly say NA feels like a ghost town, they don't play much, hyperdash lobbies get 7-8 people and vox last one I was in had 6 people, compared to full lobbies on EU hours, I genuinely feel like most of the interesting hardware and game discussion is driven in EU hours because they generally use it more than VRChat social simulator.

I think it's because NAs are far more socially focused; if their close friends aren't playing it, they won't play it. A lot of NAs play gatchashit, MMOs, and similar low effort games where you can get a lot of people together easily and none of them have to do very much. VR games are higher effort than something you can minimise so it's far more difficult to convince multiple people to join in. They generally switch games quickly as well; they'll play when there's updates for a few weeks or a FoTM, but rarely stick with one thing for any longer. VR games are not released often, so even if they do play it, it burns out fast and may be exclusively in lobbies that never even reach the thread.

EU is more of a single group as well, whereas NA is very strongly divided into subgroups, so if an EU can convince the same percentage of people in what they perceive as their group to play something, they'll get a larger lobby than if an NA convinced the same percentage of their smaller sub-group.

I don't think the difference is inherently geographic, as the problem was reversed in 2018 with NA having far more events and lobbies than EU, while EU had problems even forming VRC meetups at times. I guess it really comes down to the handful of people who have most influence over a timezone at any given time.

You literally never run out of things to do. With the exception of high level or focused vr games like Pavlov, HL:A, sims like racing or flight or elite, no man's sky, and a few other stand-outs everything else you could ever want to see and do in vr is in vrchat.
Plus you get to be and look like whatever the fuck you want.

Why do people do any of those things? Sometimes it's about socializing, sometimes it's about dancing, sometimes it's about playing pool, or cards, or chess, or mahjong, or entertaining others, or being entertained, or exploring places you couldn't go in real life, going to a haunted house or riding skateboards or motorcycles or shooting missiles out of a jet at each other without the overhead of an 80$ game nobody else plays. Or to chill on the couch and watch a pirated movie or anime together with friends. People do this shit on discord already, this is just better.
And the voice chat is honestly one of the best of any game, somehow. Probably because that's priority #2 after avatar tools for the devs.

Basically VRChat's servers have 35,000 people in them on the weekend and you can do literally ANYTHING YOU WANT, and nearly everything is possible at potato graphics or full on realtime lighting and reflections.
That's why. The playerbase and fuckhuge creator base makes this game a non-stop deluge of awesome vr shit to do.

If it wasn't vrchat it would be some other social vr game with great tools. Maybe Cluster.MU or AMBR eventually, who knows.

tracking looks pretty good here. One thing to note is that this is someone doing a self-recording, I believe. They're extremely smoothed probably due to the way they work. I would like to see someone in them from a remote perspective.
Kind of like how when you have MS kinect 2 (the dev version) tracking SUPER dialed in, it's MUCH higher fidelity than vive trackers with no jitter.

4790k and 1080 here as well, and my ram is at 1333mhz because its been unstable at 1600mhz recently...

Its still decent for VR gaming, but I still use a vive which has a lower resolution and only goes up to 90 fps. 120/144fps will be harder to maintain on that at a higher resolution. The 4790k is really starting to bottleneck me though.

I feel like the biggest hurdles with a VR Monster Hunter is specifically getting the right balance between the player's new freedom of motion combined with the balance of a monster's more pattern-based movement.

For example what would you do to the player if they got hit by a heavy knockback attack? How do you throw the player about like that? How do you balance a GS vs a SnS if both are technically weightless in the hands of a VR player without feeling like you're being handicapped like just having some arbitrary cooldown timer between hits.

Lots of things that wouldn't translate very well to the VR landscape but could be rethought to take advantage of it.
