VR isn't the most comfortable so naturally you'll want to take breaks. I found that in the beginning I would take the headset off and be surprised that I only spent an hour in VR, it felt like much more.
Now not so much but I still prefer playing games for a two or three hour session before calling it a day or taking a few hours break. 2 years in and some of the magic is still there. I try pirate a lot of junk games that never get mentioned in /vrg/, play in some of the multiplayer lobbies and take part in the occasional VR research study so my response might be different from those who are mostly confined to VRChat these days.

This weekend we are doing 4km. Most who attempted it didn't make it all the way. Last time it took upwards of 3 hours. Mostly because of the smaller playspace one of the anons. The other reason it took so long is the scale of the avatar. The smaller the avatar the larger the world is. I think one of the anons who joined was in an avatar close to half his height so walking for him was slow.

There are two ways I've seen of redirected walking. Continuous circle, where they walk in a circle continuously rotating the playspace. Or the way that I like is the diagonal method, where I walk into the corners of my room and only rotate for a short amount of time. The circle method is proably what you see as the "legs at an angle" as you are stepping in a circle you sort of lean into it as well as your steps not lining up with walking straight. But with the diagonal method I get 4-5 regular steps in. So its 1 to 1 movement between my playspace and the world space. Only in the corners where I turn is the "stutter" thats when the rotation is no longer 1 to 1 and it drifts.

You don't need FBT to redirected walk. You do need a big playspace though. I recommend a minimum of 2x2 meters.

Yeah, everything's a little toned down a little compared to STALKER's interpretation of the zone. There's fall damage, and if you play in the realistic difficulty you can't heal from sleeping. Enemies have very long vision cones during the day, and using your torch at night will attract them too. Flares are basically a portable daytime launcher. Climbing feels a little limited compared to Boneworks or even Zero Caliber. I'd prefer to be able to climb on (almost) anything than look for the rock the dev wanted me to climb.

Vive pucks having a short battery life has been one of their downsides since their inception hence why a lot of people use battery packs.
