there's also some known design flaws with the CV1 that guarantee things will go bad.

the audio ribbon cable is located in the strap around the back of the head. so just from constant use it will eventually break, and you'll lose one ear's audio.

and the way the cord is positioned and clipped, means that without some DIY adjustments, it *will* eventually kink your cable and make it go bad.

The viewball location should not have any influence of the FBT, given it's at the same height.
Making the arms longer pushes the hip tracker down towards your crotch(to avoid the stunted leg avatar look).
Making legs shorter is better for fbt if you can't make the arms longer.
If you can post of you calibrating into the avatar, avatar in T-pose with the white tracker balls visible, that might help.
Else experiment yourself with what I wrote.

So I'm trying a friend's oculus quest 2 on my PC, and for some reason, SteamVR runs like dogshit.
Games like H3 run fine, and oculus link-whatever works great, but when it comes to running steamVR, it chugs horribly and looks blurry as can be. I even went and turned supersampling off and and changed items to high priority on task manager, they did almost nothing.

I upgraded from my Vive where I used an HDBaseT Lite Extender for HDMI. Both of these combined worked flawlessly.
Index is DisplayPort though so, I have to experiment again. I'm trying out a CABLEDECONN Fiber 8K 4K DisplayPort1.4 33' cable and a Cable Matters DisplayPort Powered Repeater.
I don't know if it'll work yet though (arrive Sunday) so recommendations welcome if anyone has tried extending the Index.

The concept is interesting but the gameplay loop isn't great. Investigating the troll has no tension and requires only a single brain cell to collect the evidence. Fighting the troll is more interesting but it's still just hide, bait it into a trap, run, repeat. It uses Into the Radius as a base so the basic VR mechanics work well though.

Oculus: When you lose tracking, object remains at the last known location
SteamVR: When you lose tracking, object flies the fuck away resulting in your hands or objects going crazy

The base stations are also constantly occluded. I'm constantly having tracking problems.
Never had any issues with Oculus sensors except occlusion sometimes, and far less than with the base stations.
Never had any issues at all with Oculus inside out tracking on Quest or Rift S

For years people have been saying "haha, base station tracking is so much better"

Sounds like you just have an equipment issue my dude. The only time my sensors fly away is if they get occluded from the base stations. If even one base station is within LOS things work fine.

If you've played previous half-life games, you really want to check out Alyx. Game's pretty amazing, most polished VR title you can have now, and also there are various opinions on what happens to story (mostly positive), so you definitely need to form one on your own.
