One thing to mention that I'll be asking about later is certain rules- currently it'll be running a random map, all games with just be 25-point deathmatch, winner takes all per round, with no grinder restrictions
Restricted maps, and max grinders per team to force diversity might be preferable, so once the roster is a bit larger I'll start polling that kind of thing- possibly just add a few rules people can cast y/n votes on, change map choice to a weighted table based on popularity, ect
If there's any other rules or constraints that would make the event more enjoyable for players and viewers, just say so- I don't think anyone wants to play multiple rounds of 6v6 hoppers only

I was in the same situation, but ended up with Index. It was way over reasonable limit for my fun spendings, but holy shit, i don't regret a thing. I only remember one singular moment of feeling underwhelmed when very first thing i ran was pavlov game on datacenter with bots I've and realized how shitty non-black blacks are, other than that it's an improvement over CV1 in every way possible. Controllers included. CV1 controllers were great, battery powered system is a blessing and people consider knuckled underwhelming because finger tracking is not as perfect as you'd want it to be, but overall knuckles feel really, really good. It's something that's not easy to appreciate, but after some time spent with them, nothing else feels quite as good.

You can probably sell your $200 quest with a profit and get Index, unless you really can't afford it. It's the way to go for anyone who's deep into VR.

Well I'm completely lost on what the fuck is happening to my avatar. It seems to want to stay on its toes, the upper legs keep doing some rotations, the knees are either bent forward normally or bent back like a chicken. The lower leg doesn't line up with the upper leg and whenever I start walking my character ends up like floating almost horizontally in the air. The rig looks fine and everything, I even editted some of the weight paints but to no avail. Even happens when I use that Mixamo auto rigger

There is some tracking reset you can do. Other than that, turn off the hand tracking and make sure the cameras are clean. I had some issue like that and after resetting it has worked perfectly since.

I want to optimize that because I don't think I need that many, especially considering that I don't put Dynamic Bones in the frontal hair.

I am super confused about how to properly minimize the usage of bones. Do I just delete them and paint new weights?
Or is there a possibility to say "Please combine these bones (2 or 3 that are right next to each other), and also combine the weights from each singular bone to this new bone."

No no, I use avatars that are 1,65m tall (or in unity 1.65), and I have to put the viewball on the middle of the head or a little bit forward.
In other avatars, like the one I did for the Kon Event, I had to put the viewball between the eyes, also the head is way bigger in that avatar in particular.

You may have issues with the fan being loud enough to not properly be able to use the index mic. I've found mine doesn't get that hot on my face. If you go with the ceiling thing just know that your cable *will* die. It is just a when. That method isn't that grab for it. Good thing you got a 1 year warranty... guess just start a ticket now. Not if you use a piece of flexible, but still hard enough tube to prevent the cable from bending too much, at the back of your head. As an alternative one of the velcro tapes the index came with also works.
Also, if you make a conscious effort of checking some cable untangle tool every 10 minutes or so, you will be able to avoid killing your cable with a pulley system.
That being said, buy 2 pulley packages. Having more pulleys reduces the strain on your cable. Also, check for some youtube tutorials (or the pulley manual) how to allign the final pulley correctly (pyramid form).

In general: Just avoid hard bends and twisting or straining the cable over a long time and you will be fine.
