My fellow weebs, the spring 2021 season is upon us. In order to decide which of the 51 shows are worthy of our attention, we're going to watch every single episode 1 next week, 6 at a time, in 8(ish) rounds, made possible with some advanced vrchat and ffmpeg technology we've developed over the past two seasons:

This is one of the reasons I don't like the rando rage.

My argument against orange status is that it causes people to log on less often. If I look at the parser and there are like three people in the meetup, I won't log on. It's often the case that the meetup is a lot larger than it looks on the parser because half of you fucks are orange these days.
If the meetup is full of randos, that won't stop me from logging in because I won't see that on the parser. If the meetup looks tiny because the majority of the people there are orange, I won't log in because it's boring sitting in a tiny meetup.

I don't understand the seething about randos. If a lot of randos get into the meetup, just drop a new portal and go there. It's amazing to me that people want to sit on the same map for six hours and then complain and seethe because someone they don't know showed up.

theres another 3d printable part that "fixes" the bass on the default strap but all it does is squish the speakers into your ears. Where you run into problems comfort-wise with the default strap is that it's much heavier than the DAS and the back is fuckhuge and will be an issue if you ever want to lean your head back onto something.

You would need a C to 3.5mm mic and headphone jack. It's possible you might be able to split it into more USB ports so you could do both and still use the face tracker but you may run into issues where the root hub runs out of devices so YMMV.

I don't sit down in VR often, and the Index also has the same issue with the knob being at the back making sitting in a chair to watch a movie kind of annoying; you can make it work but its something that Valve's newer patents with funny knob placement seem to sort of aim to correct in the future

Just got a Quest 2 after many years of the old CV1. Virtual Desktop streams like shit because of my AMD card, according to one guy on reddit, but ALVR and ReLive seem to work great. Yall have a preference for either one? Only difference I can see so far is ReLive breaks when IL-2 loads into a mission, but I'd love to hear more unsubstantiated, anecdotal evidence.

I've developed alternative poses to help with stability. With pistols its pretty close to how you would hold it in real life, with two hands. The only thing that most dont do is "punching out" just like you would with a real one. With short guns that have two hand gripping, I usually just hold it like a pistol but without punching it out. With big rifles I put my left hand all the way out so my arm is straight in front of me. Then with my right hand I brace it on my left elbow. It takes a bit to get used to the wonky angle it creates but its much more stable than just floating your hands in front of you. As for bracing on cover, there really nothing you can do. Even if you do the monopod thing youd have to juggle it in weird situations. Same thing with stocks. If you arent using the same gun then its not worth the stock. Btw most of what im saying here applies mostly to h3vr because it has the best weapons handling of any game out there. seriously other games just suck when it comes to how guns work.

yeah if you are sitting on cover or something. The method I described is for general movement and control. it keeps you from having to focus on keeping sight with floaty hands. Its more or less like sighting a real gun.

the index is such an upgrade in audio, visual and adjustability compared to my original Rift, it's amazing... the hand controllers are a little odd, but probably just take some getting used to. i think the rift ones were a bit more comfortable overall. also, one of my base stations showed up DOA.

the difference in refresh rate and picture quality really makes up for any issues though.

If you have the OG Vive with DAS then upgrading to Quest 2 is a viable upgrade depending on games you play. You'll need 3rd party strap like DAS to make Quest 2 really usable. Even Quest 1 is a nice upgrade from Vive for the most part. You'll have to add rechargeable batteries and possible Link cable to the price to get a real price comparison though.
