Ironically /vrg/ is one of the better publicly archived long-lived communities for study (and for clarity's sake let's say 2+ years is 'long-lived' in modern/commercial VR time) . Other ones are just through discord/twitter and are deleted at the drop of a hat. Very few of them leave footprints. Sometimes you just hear about them. Every post in the archives are posts from the thread which are already public.
The main point is to create an incentive for good posts as the good posts are immortalized in an archive. Highlighting fun posts so anons would be more happy to make more of the good posts.

It makes intuitive sense to me. Just want to implement it without making other's experiences degrade while doing so.
The channel can be muted for example and sectioned offed fully in it's own category.
The idea is that it shouldn't really reduce from what people already use the phonebook for at the moment nor should it go against the main idea of the phonebook which is a non-posting archive of anon contacts.

I know that the model being too big when imported is a normal issue, and that you can adjust the scale when importing, but is there system to this?

I have a g2 and the controllers really suck.
I mostly do casual gaming and sim racing so it's fine, but the headset easily looses track of the right controller when shouldering a rifle, and you completely lose track when the controllers go below your waist (unless it's a quick movement where the IMUs can estimate it).
Keep in mind this is solely about tracking volume, the quality is fine imo it only fucks up if I have my window shutters down halfway and they make a dot matrix that confuses the headset. Position tracking for the headset itself is very good, never noticed a problem there.
Batteries are a pain, I use 14500 bare lipo cells and a voltage dropper, I suppose you could use them without it but the power draw goes up with voltage so whatever regulator they have is a dumb one. Used briefly at 4.2v without burning anything anyway.

Still beats sending your dick pics to zucc, at least Cortana compliments you before selling the pics to the biggest bidder.
Btw even if you go quest wait for the 128 model since it's gonna be the same price as the 64.
I would wait for deca gear to start rolling out tho, see what the fuss is about.

Gonna have to stop you right there and make that eternal reminder that you can't get the same experience from flat that you get from vr. It's fundamentally different because of depth perception and the 1:1 tracking of hands and head. If you ever get the opportunity to try vr somewhere, do so. No amount of streamers or videos will do it justice.

I spent 4k to play these games without having tried something like vrchat in desktop before. It's just not something you should do just because you're interested even if you have the money. I think in vrchats case it's fine in my book to try and see if you mix with a few people before making an investment

Been waiting on 8KX DMAS headphones more than the HMD preorder itself.
The pitool software also sucks compared to my vive pro in terms of stability.
For example I cannot boot my PC with the HMD plugged in. I have to constantly unplug/replug all 3 cables to get it working after booting. Every now and then the audio might stuff up and drop out when using voice meeter bananna so I have to do the same unplug replug bullshit routine or reboot.
I haven't had a single issue with my vive pro in comparison, just plug it in and away you go.

8KX's s only saving grace for me is the combination of large FoV and clarity which is really nice when I get it working.
The level of customization/options in pitool/PME is really nice too, but the stability really ruins the experience for me sick of having to troubleshoot every now and then, usually you just replug it in and it works or at worst you have to reboot but that alone is enough to drive me nuts.
My daily driver is the Vive pro until they the drivers and software is stable.
OLED is much nicer than LCD, and after the gearVR lense mod I don't have to deal with it's shitty lenses looks miles better, only gripe with the vive pro is the crappy headphones clamp which required 3D printed clamps to fix the design flaw.

It is good varjo exists but that price is insane only enterprise and niche of a niche of enthusiasts would be willing to go through the hassle of getting an HMD targeted at enterprise, I hope to see commercial uLed HMDs for around the same price as the 8Kx.

In 2021, replayability should be a non-factor when judging the merits of a game. If anything, everyone has too few time to play everything on their Steam library anyways.

The big publishers are right that a focused 8 hour campaign experience can be worth 60€.
