This is what i use, the back piece is more comfy than the official elite strap. It's not going to snap on you like the official will either. The knob to tighten it sticks out a bit from the back which kind of sucks but otherwise it's great. It has a flip up style hinge on the side so you can grab your drink or check something irl easy when in vr. Got mine on sale few weeks ago for 25$ but it's worth the 40$ msrp. The official strap will eventually snap on you. Mine did after a few months.

Don't expert it to be as clear as your monitor. Also if you are holding objects up to your eyes you won't be able to focus on it right and it will be blurry, at least that's how it is for me. Other than that you should measure your IPD and make sure you have the lenses on the right setting. If you are using the fabric strap try moving the headset around with your hands to try to get it lined up better, the fabric strap really sucks and I often found it would let the headset droop down on my face which would make things look blurry. If you think you are going to use the headset even a moderate amount I would recommend you get one of the third party plastic straps, not the Elite Strap, it's good but it breaks super easy. A proper strap makes taking the headset on and off much easier and you don't need to worry about it drooping at all. It's also possible that the Quest app is automatically scaling your resolution to maintain performance, you can turn that off.

After having some weird days, I decided to start the morning off right with some Instant Unity, type 2. Mm, fine textures.

I fixed my hair because I remembered freeze axis was a thing, and then edited this avatars' eyes to have the uncanny effect I add to most of them. Since it's robotic based, there's no real need to go further than this.

I do have a silly question, though: What sort of hierarchy/animation method would I use to build a weapon? Would I be nesting particle systems or is it all about learning subemitters? Especially if I want sounds to work on every stage of it, (prefire, fire, hit)

Don't trust straight measurements, vrchat is retarded. Change the in game irl height setting until shoulder to hip matches your irl proportions, then mark where your legs are on the avatar and scale them to match that. Your avatar scale is determined by your arm span so make sure that your height and arm span are the same after you've done your other proportions. Pic related done in order green red blue.

VR shooters have little in common with flatscreen shooters, so previous experience there won't matter. If you have enough hand-eye coordination to throw a basketball you'll be able to figure out VR guns. Radius guns are more complex than the guns in Half Life Alyx, but only about on same level as Pavlov, except with added survival work to do back at home base like load bullets into empty magazines and scrub them to restore durability. You won't have to worry about adjusting sights or anything technical like that.

That said, Radius is open world and survival-horror, but it's a lonely and bleak wasteland filled with ghosts, if you want the "militias fighting over turf in an exclusion zone" side of Stalker you won't get it.

I think this would always be the case. I went to a meetup for the first time about 2 weeks after they started and felt like it was already too late. Then I blamed it on private instances, then discord servers, then real life meet ups, and so on. Ultimately I had to accept that I never really did anything but sit around on my own expecting others to come to me and didn't even log in that often. Even when I tried to change that, I didn't put in nearly enough effort.

Maybe /trash/ is a shortcut to popularity, but blaming it for everything is most likely just masking your own failures.

Yes to all of those. I didn't really have a "goal" in mind when I started playing, though. I basically got dragged in by a friend, desktopping for about 3 months during early 2018. Then we both decided to get VR headsets. Got dragged into the game because of the sheer avatar creation potential. Back then I was a very shy person, with no hopes of ever finding a relationship and struggling to make friends.

Fast-forward 3 years, my social skills have improved A LOT, I find it easier to talk to people, I got into a relationship, moved out, and canceled my original plans for suicide.

Sometimes it feels hard to believe that the fucking Ugandan Knuckles meme saved my life.

Then it came out and what they showed off wasn't just some tech demo, it was actually the game.
Consider playing the multiplay mod, and generally modding it in general. The game itself is meh but the sandbox potential is still good.
