I think it's a variant of the 'developer difficulty' problem where they're so used to it after designing it that they don't even realize it's a problem. Interaction hitboxes need to be larger and distinct from others in VR to compensate for the lack of tactile sensation and the Contractors inventory fails on both accounts. Nothing is in an intuitive location where you can be sure you're grabbing it instead of something you don't want.

They probably perceive it as 'realistic' but it simply isn't due to the limitations of VR. The best system I've seen is from Into the Radius, which has a lot of different inventory slots, but they're well placed so you never grab the wrong thing. Magazines are on the stomach, left and right chest slot, mag dump pouch on the left side, pistol on the right side, two forearm slots, primary weapon on the right shoulder, backpack on the left shoulder, and map on the lower back.

I played it a lot when it was a free alpha. The mechanics and balancing are legitimately good and serves the quake/UT arena-style niche that pavlov will never be able to do. The payload mode is great fun with the slowly changing offense/defense flow, and their new CTF mode isn't bad either. Also since the alpha you can now manually select all the mutators if you want to play unlimited boost or instagib and stuff, instead of only getting random.

OTOH there is no mod support so you are stuck with their ~10 maps for the foreseeable future. and it has quest crossplay so the public lobbies are full of squeakers. So if you're happy paying 14 shekels for a unique shooter you can play in private lobbies with friends, it's worth the price.

I really wish ubisoft didn't fuck up space junkies so hard. that had a ton of promise as another great VR arena shooter.

Subnautica was one of the things I was really looking forward to playing in VR, I was very disappointed to find that it only had support for headset + controller. Since it doesn't have motion controls, I personally can't recommend it as being worth the time. I'd say just play desktop and then if you want, take a session to look around the world in VR or whatever. Maybe it's fun to cruise around in the sub with a controller too.

I haven't gotten motion sickness in VR since the Oculus DK2, but today I was getting nauseas as hell playing Walkabout Mini Golf of all games on my Quest 2. I don't know if it's because I'm going from long Index sessions to the lower refresh rate, resolution, and FOV of the Quest 2 or what.
