As for outer wilds, it's great. The VR mod (it's not an official release) is well made and works great. You're half right - VR official releases tend to be crap but the VR mods are actually usually pretty good since they actually give a shit. Although serious sam VR is actually good.

Tundra tracker compared to my old 2.0 setup. With the longer battery life, no battery bank should be needed anymore.

GTA 5 VR is one of the greatest experiences I've had so far in VR. The controller + head aiming is so smooth and satisfying, I have better aim than pancake mode with keyboard or controller. Overall, everything feels a lot less janky than many proper VR games and it's a nice break to be able to enjoy it seated without all of the motion controls. My biggest complaint comes down to performance issues (not a huge deal for GTA, mostly just makes the game a bit ugly in exchange for smoothness, but unplayable with RDR2)

Why aren't more VR games jumping on this? Give me big, full games with expansive worlds and if you can't get the motion controls down then just give me some head-aiming / controller hybrid, it feels good.

Yeah, it's a mod. No motion controls, you have to use a controller, but you aim and look around with your vision, so basically when you shoot it shoots exactly where you are looking at. No UI helps a lot to keep things uncluttered. Working with your body to do complex actions rather than searching a keyboard for the right key to press also does. Another interesting thing that makes things easy to track is that your eyes struggle to make smooth movements but can lock on to something and move smoothly in opposition to your head movements. Try it yourself slowly look left and right with just moving your eyes and you'll notice your eyes just flick from point to point. But then if you focus on one spot and move your head left and right your eyes can smoothly rotate to stay looking at something. Moving your head as the camera allows your eyes to properly smoothly track things like this without going out of focus.

The actual VR functionality mods I use include VR menu mouse fix, FlinchingSSE VR, VRIK, HIGGS, Spell Wheel VR, Magic Improvements for Skyrim VR, Immersive Gathering, Simple Realistic Archery VR, Weapon Throw VR, Dual Wield Block VR, Locational Damage VR, Sprint Jump VR, Sighted Crossbows VR, Scoped Bows, and the No Stagger Mod as staggering sucks in VR.

One big caveat about Enderal VR I should be upfront about is that a lot of the cool combat overhauls that make Skyrim VR extra cool just don't work. Spellsiphon and Arcane Archery namely. It makes combat feel "vanilla" even if the realistic archery mechanics and being able to actually headshot dudes is hardly vanilla. I personally like going full Legolas with realistic simple archery and locational damage, but it isn't as interesting as being able to go full Thief as with Arcane Archery. It's worth the cost if you like everyone else has played in Todd's world plenty of times and want something fresh and far less bland. The PSVR version at least works pretty well, but has the major caveat of only one hand and very gimped graphics. There are plenty of videos of it. The PC version will thankfully fix all of that with proper two handed combat and no compromise graphics. It's going to have Intel XeSS too so it should run well even on older GPUs. I'm definitely looking forward to going back and trying challenges that I haven't finished like the Colorado scarecrow ones in VR.

Anyone have a gun stock recommendation for Knuckles controllers? I can 3D print for free using a library, although I don't know how big the prints can be, but yeah. Items lost means you drop items on death. I think with it off it only drops your backpack's items but I've only ever played on the hardcore drop everything mode or whatever it's called. Back in the alpha this was called normal difficulty. I think ironman just gives you no option to load when you die and locks you to one save slot. Exiting the game saves too. The autosave is for crashes.

Tried them out in VRC, and they feel amazing. It's like having no trackers at all, given how light they are.
I also had 0 issues with occlusion etc, despite moving around, sitting on the floor etc.
Only issue is that the right foot tracker slowly drifts away from it original position, so after an hour in VR, it was like 20-30cm away from the foot and had to be restarted.
Battery levels also feels weird, as thry can't be charged fully without powering themself on, I hope they fix that in an update, because thst is the biggest issue for me rn, can't charge them during the night because they turn on, most retarded fucking design choice ever. If anyone have a fix please tell me.

In practice it's just lots of corpse runs though already-cleared areas, it's not nearly as hard to play ironman in 2.0 as in 1.0. When the zone would also reset after your death you'd need to have a dedicated spare set of gear just to help you get back to your body and retrieve your favorite gun or whatever. Personally I have mostly been able to induce the sensation of cold and heat from the enviroment or objects, as well as the taste of VR food also able to in a way mentally feel the sensation of eating different foods ex. cracking and crunching biscuits, licking icecream, icing & syrup or the soft springiness of pancakes, as well as inducing smells mostly from distinct strong things such as coffee
