Planck?
Anonymous No.389692995
>>389692313
>>389692524
Planck is half way there, but it's still lacking. Enemies have a physics response when you slap them and you need to actually hit their body, but their weapons are still very hitbox based and you don't really block with your weapon any differently than vanilla. It's a big step forward, but it's not a magic fix for melee combat yet.

>>389692313
Planck helps a lot. On top of rewriting how collisions work you can grab and even pick up weakened enemies. Finishing dudes off by throwing them off cliffs is FUN. I think the best combination of melee combat mods right now would be Planck, Strike Obfuscation System for blocking, Physical Dodge VR for proper dodging, Blade & Blunt for attack commitment and generally overhauling Skyrim's combat, and SkySA 2 for replacing NPC behavior (It doesn't affect players in VR) so attacks are telegraphed and ice skating is removed. Get JH's Animations for SkySA as the default Dark Souls esque ninja moves are a bit too fast for VR. Also, Speed & Reach for Synthesis and Retimed Hit Frames for Nemesis so enemies have hitboxes that are actually 1:1 with their weapons and attacks.

Making NPCs physics based does have some quirks. In this pic the knigga got physically hooked on Lydia's sword as his arm wrapped around it, so I needed to grab his arm to unhook him and send him on his way. Planck has an option to give NPCs full physics interactions with terrain too. Think Boneworks where zombies can trip over objects, but a bit less bad in Skyrim's case. I have that turned off as I'm terrified of potentially breaking pathfinding, but it is cool.

I'm new to VR, I got a Quest 2 that I use with a cable. I've been having a lot of fun but the games all look like they're low resolution that have been upscaled, they sort of look a little "blurry" (not talking about my vision but the games themselves). Is this something normal for VR, is it just a Quest 2 screen particularity or is there some setting I'm missing ? Anything I've searched about this was only talking about eye and lens adjustment.

This. It's genuinely more convenient to pirate the game as every minor update for the official game breaks all your mods. I have maybe two hours in the legal copy of the game I have, but way more in my pirate copy as all of my mods and custom songs still work there. Cheers bud.

My only issue with VR porn so far is you have to go for the 2160 stuff or it looks awful and they insist on getting their clams so fucking close to the camera that it makes you cross eyed, like seriously put a dang headset on and check out what your viewers are going to see, move the fuck back it's not enjoyable.

I'm refunding Mare. Very disappointing. Looks nice, and at a glance, it seems like it'd be a VR version of ICO, but ICO had puzzles or enemies, or things to do. In this one, you control a mechanical bird, and you click on a perch, at which point it automatically flies there, then you watch a little girl walk to where you are. And I do mean "watch," because if you're not looking directly at her as she walks, she stops and won't continue until you look at her again. Then you fly to the next perch and repeat.

Not on sale and I don't know how the PC port is because I played it on PSVR, but Immortal Legacy: The Jade Cipher is basically a Chinese discount Resident Evil. The English voice-acting is pretty solid (Geralt VA plays the main character) if you enjoy campy stories and I thought it was a good adventure. Some poor VR design choices though, like a few literal cutscenes and some QTEs.

I was given a Quest 2 last Christmas but even with the spacer my glasses never quite fit comfortably nor could I get the focus just right, so I didn’t get particularly into it, just did some initial setup. But I just got Lasik for unrelated reasons and tried it last night for the first time without glasses. Gosh, that’s just night and day in terms of comfort and clarity. Definitely want to make use of this gift now and do things right from the start.
Yesterday I got Sidequest setup and installed Oculess. I’ve got a couple questions for any kind anons willing to answer
>When I disabled Telemetry using Oculess, it showed a readout of 6 telemetry-related variables, and only 3 were actually disabled. Is this normal, or a sign I’ve messed up something in the install? I haven’t seen anyone else complain about this ambiguity with Google searching. I can try to grab a screencap later if this is too vague. I recall it was the third, fourth, and fifth of the six in the list that were disabled, and one of the disabled ones had "log" in the name.
>Does Guardian provide any useful position/motion data for programs, or can I just disable it if I’m not concerned about my environment? Do y’all prefer keeping it on or off?
>Are there any essential programs/mods to grab that I would regret not finding later on? Looking at the sticky, I’ll also grab XS Overlap and OpenVR Advanced Settings. Any other recommendations?
>What is the best way to record/screencap what I’m seeing? I’ve had some luck with OBS recording my PC’s output using Virtual Desktop, but that seems a bit roundabout.
Y'all have been helpful in the past. Thanks in advance.

Crafting is still done pointing at menus (your inventory spread out on the ground), and you can attack as fast as you can swing, so you can absolutely rape most things. I have no idea how to block attacks, trying to parry or holding your weapon out sideways doesn't seem to do anything. Also, picking up a large amount of items is cancer since you have to grab the controller for each item you pick up or place in a building. Maybe that can be rebinded, I'm not sure.

Honestly I liked the game more in flatscreen than in VR. It feels a lot more like a port than a true VR game if you know what I mean

There's not too much in the way of Project Wingman mods which provide more major gameplay changes. Most of them are just some minor map, skin changes you won't notice in VR, or some real wacky shitpost ideas like the giant Legoman. There aren't too many mods which actually add much in the way of content

There's a few cool map replacements that do change how you play or the feel, however. Like Neptune Domain, which makes the whole thing into a space stage that lets you fly around the underside of the ships and also changes what the ships have. Such as the ISDs here having a dozen railguns and ability to spawn more fighters. If you're cool with some stuff that mainly changes the map, there's a bunch on Nexus you can easily find.

There's been a few blunders as of recent most notably hitman 3 but codemasters games have been having a field day with dirt 2 and f1 22. I've heard good things about re7 on psvr as well. The re8 gameplay demo on psvr2 already looks like it has some of the best visuals compared to pcvr games. Apperantly sony is seeking exclusivity deals for vr "experiences" of popular titles, most notably the new modern warfare. With psvr2 this shit's gonna become far more common.

The combined price of the headset and console will be below 1000usd which is unheard of for pcvr setups. Im just scared of the "sense" controllers being plagued with drift.

With Sony's gaming division moving less into platform exclusivity and more into PC gaming, it wouldn't surprise me if PSVR2 worked as a PCVR headset either right out of the box at launch, or with a future update. Now we just need them to port the PSVR exclusive games over. Exclusivity is ass, and exclusivity in an ultra niche market like VR is even assier.

But then there would be no incentive at all to actually buy a ps5. I was under the impression that Sony will be porting their flatscreen games over to pc while holding onto their 1st party vr titles and exclusivity deals for dear life. Even timed exclusives don't create enough of an incentive to actually buy a ps5. To actually make sales, sony's gonna be selling these units at a loss when they can rely on a 30% cut for third party games and the entire pie for their first party titles whereas steam would take a bite.

>>389985875
I hope they keep up with this trend. Maybe the playstation platform dissolves into an umbrella of game studios and occasional releases of hardware that isn't locked down (sort of like what valve is doing). Sony has multiple very well performing hardware divisions whether it be TVs phones headphones or whatever. They just aren't gonna compete with microsoft's massive heap of big name studios so they'll instead be cornering the vr market right behind faceberg. I feel like if sony really were to make the headset pc compatible they'd make their own game center/launcher to get an uncircumsiced revenue from their 1st parties on pc, like what oculus did with lone echo and asgard's wrath. Its probably unlikely but I really hope for psvr2 on pc. Quest 2 has very shitty compression with my amd gpu and the new pico neo isnt worth the upgrade even if its DP native. psvr2 will be my next headset without a doubt

I'm having tracking issues in multiple games with my Index controllers. At first, I thought the problem was with the game, because it happened on a few demos during the Steam NEXT Festival, so I just uninstalled the demos and moved on. But reading the game discussions, nobody else but me had the same problem. Now it's happening in a game I just purchased called Atlas Mystery, and it's the same problem I had with the demos. My controllers aren't being tracked in-game. My "hands" are just sitting on the floor below me, but I know Steam VR is tracking them because I can open and interact with the Steam VR menu just fine. I can also play most games just fine, it's just the demos and this newer game. Anyone know what the problem could be before I go through the hassle of contacting Valve?

I tried resetting the PC, hard resetting the controllers, unplugging the tri-cable at the break point, disabling the device, then replugging it and letting Windows reinstall the drivers, etc. and nothing I did worked.

I did manage to resolve the issue just now, but it really just raises further questions. I started dicking around with developer settings and turned off Power Management, and that fixed it for some reason. I thought the Power Management setting was so the lighthouses shut off whenever SteamVR wasn't running. And I have no idea why I was only having tracking issues on these newer games, and not on anything else I had played, including stuff I bought and played after buying and installing the "faulty" demos and Atlas Mystery.

Oh, and to make matters stranger, according to valve, power management comes shut off by factory default, so me switching it off in dev settings just now shouldn't have actually done anything.

the visual prompts in VR aren't as bad as it looks in screenshots since it's not taking up your full FOV. I've always felt UTF is more of a combat-themed rhythm game than a straight combat game anyway, and it plays well in that mindset. They all use AKs and onetap heads which is only countered by not being in the line of fire to begin with. That's how the sweatlords prefer to play because it's what they're used to with CS and are too autistic to change. Grenades were already balanced by being single use and expensive. As long as you're not standing in the obvious grenade trap corners, you're fine for those hail mary cooked grenade throws. But those same grenade traps are the perfect cover for sitting and guarding a hallway waiting for heads to shoot.
The usefulness of grenades was the balance that pavlov needed. A way for shitty shots to be useful and a means to force CS metafags to adapt and realise it's a different game.

Sure. Say what you want about their exclusive haves and have nots but Sony has been getting major exclusivity deals for VR ports, not to mention they own the most VR oriented studios right after meta. Also, If they decide to, than why is it "bad" for them to release said VR games on pc? Its still gonna have an edge over the noVR SeX. The question isn't whether someone decides to play on pc rather than ps5, Its whether they pick the ps5 over the SeX.

I said I've had issues with the card's encoding (compression) on the quest. psvr2s is native with DP connection over the usb c port that connects directly to its graphics card so no encoding has to be done. As for the graphics card, the specs mostly match to that of a 6600xt - 6700. It has 16gigaboobs of vram if im not wrong but it still pales to the SeX. Ultimately its performance gains will come down to how they manage foveated rendering with its eye tracking. I'd imagine their first party studios and other big triple gay studios that know their way around VR (i.e. capcom) could utilize it best. the re8 vr demo already looked like one of the best looking vr games yet while the new saints and sinners looked like it had lower quality textures than SaS 1 on pc.

They should encourage as much crossplay between PSVR2 and PCVR as possible; To benefit from a larger multiplayer base, to make the combined platforms more appealing for developers to prioritize and to make PSVR2 look like a viable alternative to PCVR for normalfags. They've already got quite a few ports on the way but in such a small market still the need for multiplats outweights the benefits of a few exclusives so I hope they keep them to a minimum. Sony can be real shit but successful console VR is more beneficial to PCVR than standalone will be.

Laziness and lack of talent on the part of devs. I don't hate roguelikes, but so many of these VR ones have pathetic variety yet use slight randomization to pad out playtime. To be fair it's that or four hour experiences. Small devs can make really expansive 3D games. We got Cruelty Squad and Northern Journey last year which were hueg adventure games that were made by single man studios with nonexistant budgets. But VR devs know that they can get away with less.

That said, don't write off all roguelikes/lites/gamethatdoesn'treallyplaylikeRoguebutismarketedassuch in VR. Risk of Rain 2 with its VR mod is a hoot and has way more to it than any made for VR roguelike.

You can categorize game development into 3 stages
1. You have no real game, you are writing physics, camera, rendering and audio code
2. You have a game that works somewhat, you can walk and look around, but everything is still basic and buggy, performance is not good.
3. You have a basically finished game, it executes some complex stuff that is specific to your game. It has no major bugs and performs well.

The problem with unity, and off-the-shelf engines overall, is that they allow you to go from stage 1 to stage 2 easily, in 20 minutes basically, but the tradeoff is that they make stage 2 to stage 3 transitions much much harder. Unironically it's immediate gratification versus working on your fundamentals.

>>390138912
Game development is very hard, and the payment is very bad, with the amount of skill required to make a good game you can easily score a job at FANG and just extract normalfag money while doing very little. And making a good game in unity is even harder.

And making good games in VR is unironically might be at least twice as hard.
Look at the pic related for example, is a frame from elden ring, it's a custom engine but it is good to illustrate the point.
If you don't understand what you are seeing, I will explain. The elden ring engine starts GPU work only after completing the CPU work completely, (well, GPU doesn't idle completely during that time, because work from previous frame overlaps, it is still extremely inefficient and high latency). They still shipped the game and sold millions copies, but that kind of stuff just not going to fly in VR.

I have a screw-around playground that I use for pretty much any random thing i feel like doing at the moment, and setting up unity for VR is as easy as reading some basic intro on steamvr plugin. As far as asset flips go, one could consider it easier than flatscreen, as all of the SteamVR plugin controls, prefabs, animations/interactions system is already here for you. But if you want to make an actual game, then obviously difficulty increases as VR has to be highly interactive and all to make it feel right.

Depends. Are you willing to spend some time tinkering and dialing in settings on the HMD and in game for an optimal experience? Willing to tinker with some mods like the VRperfkit? Are you somebody with the budget to think about the 12k trade in program they've got going?

If yes, can be worth it. But Pimax HMDs take some fiddling with so they're not a good recommendation for somebody's first VR experience. Make sure you have a beastly rig through because sims at 4k per eye res bring even a 3090 TI to its knees. The G2's still pretty demanding though and WMR software is complete and total fucking ass so bear that in mind. The 8k X is amazing and one of the best headsets around when properly set up but it can be a pain in the ass to do so.

NTA but NMS is just a bad port and performance hog. With a 5600x and 3070 I could get somewhat smooth gameplay but there was still stutter when flying in/out of planets or the loading screens. Entering the Anomaly also usually killed my framerate. If you google you'll mostly find outdated tweak guides from launch, don't worry about any [numthreads] stuff, the game automatically sets that correctly now. Everything else seems to make next to no difference as far as I can tell. You can turn up some of the graphical settings like texture quality and filtering with little performance impact but CPU intensive settings like higher base quality impacted my FPS the most.

I've seen people saying they had success using DLSS/FSR but I could barely tell the difference between any of the AA options, they all blur the shit out of the image to the point where I feel shortsighted.

Does anyone here have experience with Skyrim's lewd mods? I remember being able to get SL and SLAL to play nice with Skyrim VR, but I can't get them to work with Enderal VR. I'm running Nemesis, but all characters are still stuck in t-pose. Apparently there's an incompatibility with some anims and Nemesis, and I'd have to run FNIS instead, but I distinctly remember refusing to run FNIS when I played Skyrim like a year or two ago, so I can't remember what fix or workaround I must have used.

There is an Enderal-Sexlab compatibility patch on LoversLab. You could use https://www.loverslab.com/topic/132489-skyrim-sexlab-and-vr/ alongside it and then use xedit to make both patches play nice together, but there's no guarantee that even that will work.

I guess I just took for granted that if I could get LL to work in Skyrim VR, I could also get it to run in Enderal, since Skyrim is basically running Enderal as a mod, instead of it running by itself as its own exe. I also guess I just assumed it would work out of the box because I had gotten SL to work with the flat version of Enderal, but I just realized that was Enderal LE, not Enderal SE. Thanks, I'll look for that patch.

the devs basically gave up on further developing the gameplay and adding more ships to salvage. Eventually they admitted that the reason why is that it was too hard for them, so instead they just focused on their extremely shitty, unskippable story that everyone absolutely hated
then they also said that there will be no way for modders to make custom ships because they used licensed software to make the game which forbids them from releasing modding tools
there are only 4 ships to salvage, each can have different variations but all that changes is the interior of the ship
extremely disappointing game, especially for those who bought it in EA hoping that they would eventually add more gameplay content
do NOT buy this game, pirate it if you really want to play it

I played it on Game Pass and it was fine, the story is kinda crappy and the unskippable bits are terrible, but it was still fun to cut up and salvage ships until I finished the game. The ships are more varied than you make out though, yes there is only 4 ship models but each has several variants that are more than just different interiors.

fair enough, I played it when it was in EA and pretty much got to the end, even managed to pay off the debt that the game story considers to be impossible to pay off
when I wanted to go back to it, I found out that during every major update they did in EA, all progress was reset back to zero, they did this 4 fucking times, even with the last update that added absolutely nothing except for the ending to their shitty story
so if you played it in EA, not only you got your saves deleted several times, but you didn't even get any new playable content to go with it

Was considering buying a Quest 2, removing all of the META crap and using it as a VRChat exclusive experience. (I don't care about non-weeb games or anything on META moderated appstores)

Is it still a good idea? I heard that you can only stream PCVR games to it, so that would be a huge NO, considering compression and latency streaming usually comes with.

I can only find Quest 2 sold in my shithole of a southamerican country.
But buying another from Amazon Global is an option. if it's on the same price range as the Quest 2.

I'm have performance issues, even at 90hz (I have RTX 3080 12GB, 11th gen I9-11900 processor). Does anyone know any tips and tricks to make it still look good and have a stable 85fps+

I had found a stable way until Mission 5, where the city and amount if units brought fps down by 30-40. I'm already using VR performance kit

What else can I do without making the game look very ugly (no shadows, bad clouds etc), most of my settings are medium/high

Most of the settings help when lowering, but under the high/medium branch, it does look realy ugly. Clouds become pixelated blobs, cities becomes a few square blocks. In case anyone was wondering, or was planning on playing Enderal VR, SexLab works, you just have to run an xEdit script to account for Enderal's custom races. For some reason, most vanilla Skyrim races are named the same in the mod files, but Redguard and I think High Elf are called something else, which was messing with compatibility

It's not that complicated in retrospect, I just forgot to take into account that even though Enderal is using mostly Skyrim's assets, there's some xEdit fuckery happening in the background because the mod author/team renamed everything, which means having to forward or change references in xEdit. Because in Enderal, a Nord isn't a "Nord," he's a "Half-something or other;" a wolf isn't a "Wolf," it's a "Deerstalker," etc.

Ok, I made a third person video.

https://streamable.com/yuse77

You have to hit the notes that correspond to each hand (yellow and blue), but there's also rails that you have to follow, either hand notes where you have to hit the entire streak with the same hand (pink), and ones where you have to use both hands together (white). My colours are custom.

Custom songs, avatars, and stages are supported by default so they don't break with updates, the scoreboards work, and all stages support all modes and options, instead of requiring variants to be made. The two main game modes are attempting to hit the notes precisely (rhythm) or maintaining velocity while hitting them (force) which leads to two different styles of play. Other options include rotating stages, steering the stage left and right by leaning, scaling the playspace up to 1.5x size, and a variety of difficulty options. Multiplayer with avatars too. Essentially things that Beat Saber required mods or updates years later to add.

The only thing Beat Saber has over it is more custom songs (there's still over 2000) and a competitive scene.

>is it good to get?
Depends what you expect. It has largely been a gun simulator with no real purpose up to this point. The game modes are secondary for sure. That might change if the dev implements those tools well and players can create a real game out of it.
Anonymous No.390473123 Replies: >>390473492

I'd say pirate the game to try it out. It's effectively a tech demo that never goes on sale right now. Pay for it if it actually implements proper game mode modding. The dev is a huge SJW who was afraid of modding up until this point, so time will tell if he really changes his tune or if the modding super super locked down mod.io crap.

Just do what you would do normally on a start of the game

>Use the nearest stone when you spawn in RoL to go to Helgen
>Go to Riverwood
>Talk to the trader to hear about the missing claw as a reason to go to Bleak Falls Barrow
>Go to Jarl Balgruf and tell him about the dragon and then give his wizard the dragonstone you got from Bleak Falls Barrow
>Continue the main quest along with doing whatever you damn well please as it's an open world RPG where you can go everywhere unless you use Morrowloot or something

Realm of Lorkhan has other starting options if you care little for the main quest. You can even set yourself as a member of the bandit or forsworn factions if you feel like it. Other alt start mods can make it so that the main quest and the dragons never show up so you can roleplay and do other things if you want. If you have absolutely never played Skyrim before then maybe Opening Scene Overhaul is a better option as it'll still give you the opening scene, but not broken as is usually the case when you install lots of mods. Modlists are often not a good idea for beginners unless it is a bare essentials modlist for that reason.

You need Sexlab and it's dependencies of course. After that you'll need to get a child replacer. I'm using High Poly Lolita, but I've heard that the February 2022 version of Skykids is p. good. You can always get Dolls and it's uncensor patch. To get Sexlab to work properly with kids you need xxsUtility and the Sexlab Integrated Child Patch. xxs comes with voices and animations and all that. It has the VR patch built in.

Because of Minecraft's... reputation, how can I convince them to just enjoy the experience rather than the kid community puts out there.

I searched through my mod list download history on Nexus, which was a tremendous pain in the ass, and was able to find the lighting mods UVRE used, but they require USSEP as a dependency, which Enderal doesn't use. Depends on how far and sweaty you are willing to get with it and if you have the specific autism required for it. I have put +1k hours in it in about 3 years and I play it almost daily. BeatSaver (the main repo for customs) has +20k human made maps with dozens of new ones uploaded daily.

The hard part is finding shit that you can actually play when starting out. For that you want to filter for "full spread" mapsets, which have all 5 possible difficulties done. The difficulty progression isn't consistent across different mapsets, so one mapset Hard diff most likely isn't comparable to another mapsets Hard diff. Not ideal, but this way you don't have to deal with mapsets with only Expert+ diff which are made by and for people with at least 200 hours into the game. After that it's just downloading bunch of maps and trying them out. There's also some competetive leaderboard mods with star ratings and rankings like ScoreSaber if you're into those.

True, but in VR, every single millisecond counts.
Also, at extreme rendering resolutions the price/perf ratio of highest end recovers a little bit.
Even 4k is pretty low res compared to the native headset rendering res, even quest 2 at native is 2x amount of pixels compared to 4k.

Real close friend in my group is moving cross country and might not see them in person for a long fucking time. We've got VR so were thinking of all picking another good game to play. Anyone got experience with Demeo? Between that, After the Fall, or Legendary Tales. Trying to expand the options beyond Pavlov and Phasmaphobia.

We all play tabletops, but not too sure what to make of if it'll have content to last as it's a bit more structured than tabletop sim/D&D, but that's a bit of a pain to set up and some of the VR aspects are clunky. Most of the comments or thorough reviews I find on the game are older, and mention lack of content, and it looks like it has had some updates since then.
Anonymous No.390732417 Replies: >>390739297
>>390729884
Demeo is OK but very simplistic and with very little to it. To put it in context there is no character progression in the game whatsover. It's not D&D, much less something like Heroquest. What's there is polished enough to the point that I'd say it'd be worth a try for a very steep discount. Otherwise get Divinity OS or Baldur's Gate if you want a good co-op experience.

After the Fall is pretty cool. It has surprisingly good gunplay and the devs are good about listening to the community with some of the dumb grinding mechanics being patched out. It's still only six campaign maps which you replay to unlock new upgrades, but the AI director keeps things fresh. Legendary Tales is a Korean grindfest with a demo that is intentionally over two hours long to prevent people from refunding it. There are only three enemies in it too. Tread with caution, especially given how much they ask for the game.

>rendering the entire background geometry twice is cheaper
Easily could be. GPU can push tons of geometry fast, but changing shaders is usually an expensive operation.

Also, how do you think "reflection shader" works?
Rendering twice is the only way to get real reflections with no artifacts with traditional rasterization pipeline.

I like Demeo quite a bit. It may be somewhat simplistic but I still have good fun with all the tactical situations the game gets you into, and it's very well balanced imo; almost always feels high tension yet not unfair. It's also well polished UI-wise, unlike the million little papercuts you get in tabletop sim that make the VR experience painful. And while the devs still haven't announced any sort of custom campaign or level designer (and modders are still just scratching the surface), they are consistently putting out new updates such that I'd say there's about 12 hours of content officially now, if you think that's worth the asking price.

That's about what I've seen. The L4D2 VR mod existing is making After the Fall a little less appealing for us, but it's more made for VR and slightly less jank, which has some appeal. Some of the interest in Legendary Tales is the physics stuff and co-op aspect as we've played a lot of shooters. Being grindy as it is does inspire some caution though.
>>390736019
We have tried it and wasn't quite clicking. Takes a while to set up what we want and felt annoyingly jank, at least for what we play.
>>390736861
Alright, thanks for the more comprehensive view on it. I hope the devs open workshop support soon because it feels like such a perfect game for it.

i have a quest 2 and it was working fine hooked up to my PC, now all of a sudden it's laggy as fuck even just in the oculus link home screen.
the quest home screen is fine but when i connect it it goes to shit. i've run the USB connection test a bunch of times and it says the connection is good, same numbers as it was when i first got it. i even picked the headset up and moved it around while running the test and got the same results so i don't think it's a connection issue.
radeon monitor says nothing it maxing out so i don't think it's a GPU issue, but i did have to roll back to pretty old drivers to get the thing to work initially.

has anyone else had issues recently or know what i should look at?

I think that part of what makes After the Fall good is the native VR mechanics. The gunplay is genuinely nice. Weapons have weight, and you have to physically reload. Different types of magazines change how you reload too, and gun handling involves managing recoil with both hands. The L4D2 mod is just press button to reload and guns function just as they do when playing the game flat.

I got it during the last sale and it only took me 6 hours for all four dungeons with a three character party. There is technically some randomization with the dungeon layout, but it's nowhere near your average roguelite. And of course there is zero build variety as there is no equipment or character progression. For $24 on sale I think that it's an awful value, but it might be fun with friends if you can convince them to also shell out $24 over the $3 Baldur's Gate EE costs.

I think it has something to do with either Unity or SteamVR, or some combination of both. I played The Atlas Mystery after getting it to work, but the Steam forums have several other people who are experiencing the same problem, both in that game and also Ruinsmagus. Like everyone else, the problem comes and goes seemingly at random, and sometimes just a reboot of SteamVR fixes it.

Anonymous No.390833230
>>390832391
Reprojection is like some gay shit that duplicates frames, so when your PC can't run at the required 120 fps for your 120 hz screen, it runs at 60 instead. I don't know what headset you use and what VRPerfKit uses for software, but if it's openxr there's a setting to turn it on/off/auto. Same setting was in some .cfg for steamvr somewhere. It's probably set to auto and the software detects your dogshit computer can't keep a steady 120 though, but if you can set your shit to 90hz and keep a steady 90 fps in the game, just disable gayprojection and play at 90 instead.
Anonymous No.390833832 Replies: >>390834562
>>390832391
120FPS is really hard to hit in most VR games even with a 3090 just because of the resolution needed. Reprojection turns on if your system can't keep up with the selected frame rate, if your PC is only doing 110FPS then it will cut it down to 60 and make fake frames to try to keep it as smooth as 120. You should be able to see if it's happening in fpsVR you'll see the frame time graph change colour and there is a read out for reprojection. I have a 3090 and run at 90Hz, if the game is well optimized and I have room I just bump up the super sampling.

My reprojection rate is like 50%, but I don't know if that's because my framerate is being cut in half by SteamVR. I tried setting the refresh rate to 144Hz, but all that did is make the graphics flicker, and changing it back to 120Hz didn't make that problem go away. The thing that's weird, is that I was running the game at like 250% resolution by accident, and my CPU frametimes were in the orange on the graph. I lowered it to 150%, and my CPU frametimes came down, but then my GPU frametimes went into the orange. I would have thought upping the resolution would have made me less CPU bound and more GPU bound.

What's your headset and CPU? And what are you using to benchmark?

Yeah you have reprojection turned on or either to auto and your PC can't hold 90/120/whatever your hz is fps and it's cutting it in half. Also try at 100% SS for starters.

Index, 3700x. I'm looking at framerate and frame times with FPSVR. Now that I remember, apparently Skyrim VR doesn't play nice with overlays.
