How do I make friends outside of vrg? I'm getting real tired of this place but joining other groups without tdas or kids seems fucking impossible. I've tried flirtual and actually met a few nice people there, but all of them already have their own friend groups that I can't seem to infiltrate. It's pretty shit that a game about meeting and talking to people doesn't have any way to find people other than just hopping around different instances and hoping you'll find someone you'll get along with.

Ok, I understand the issue. The animation controllers I made disable finger tracking when the props are enabled, and then re-enable it when they are disabled. This was an oversight on my part; setups that do not have finger tracking will break because of this since it forces finger tracking to be enabled on exit, which consequently prevents hand animations from firing.
I'll figure out how to package this properly and update things, but if you want the immediate fix just delete the "VRC Animator Tracking Control" components in the "Lighter Hand" and "Cigarette Hand" layers. See pic related. There will be two in each layer, although technically you should only have to delete the ones on the "Idle" boxes for things to work.

Never actually done this shit before but I just read through the unity docs and tested this successfully and I'm pretty sure this will work for you.
On each of the four animator states that you just deleted the tracking control component from, add a "VRC Animator Layer Control" component and change the settings of each one to what's specified here.
You'll need to set the Playable, Layer, Goal Weight, and Blend Duration fields on each one. Don't do what I just did and accidentally forget one.

Since there's workshoppy shit here and I learned a thing today, i might as well bring it over to show all of you.
When porting something that uses cloth over to a new model, the cloth constraint settings don't always come with it, resulting in some REALLY strange behaviour.
You can edit the weights and stuff per vertex by clicking each bubble and adjusting it. You can also paint them, but painting seems to be unreliable in unity. You can actually box select them en masse and it actually sleects them right, so I used it to fix this avatar I should have finished tomorrow or something.
Cloth is still bullshit but I wanted the new outfit.

If you edit verts on some models they have custom split normals and that fucks them up.
If you have the original mesh, use the Data Transfer modifier to transfer the normals back. Use the "Topology" mode for best results.
If the original model has this too, simply recalculate the normals.

The animations and toggles were made with the separate meshes.
Remaking them with the combined meshes is an extreme pain.
But it can be done.
What you want to do is hit the red record button and edit that material located now in
your COMBINED MESH instead of the "Mesh Breasts".
To edit an animation you first need to drag it to a COPY of your model. You can work on it there. using a dropdown on the animation window

In Unity, click on your fbx, then click the rig tab on the right side of your screen in the Inspector. Click configure, and in the mapping tab on the right, make sure that Upper Leg is set to upper_legL and upper_LegR for both your left and right legs. Also make sure that Hips is set to your hip bone. As for facial expressions, not sure what specific problem you're having but an easy mistake to make is not setting the weight of a layer to 1 in the animation controller. Otherwise it won't work.

Are all your animations set to write defaults on or off? If you do write defaults off then you have to specifically reset your facial animations back to their default state when you're done with them. I don't use write defaults off so I can't offer any more detailed advice than that.

Manual Redirected Walking works by the rotation of different spaces. Real space is fixed but virtual space can be manipulated with a button or joystick. We can combine these to make it so that only real walking/ translation happens by only using real and virtual turning. First walk across your room, then turn in real life so that you face the center of your playspace, with the joystick you turn in the direction you want to go in VR. Rinse and repeat until you get where you need to go. Make sure to enable some boundary.
