Is the vive pro worth it purely for wireless? I was considering a quest 2 but my router is dogshit and across the house + I'm not interested in dealing with facebook. I found a pro eye for sale near me that is listed for basically the same as a pro price wise. I already own an index I just hate the wires so much. I don't really care about the 90hz limit because I barely get over 90 fps anyways. you don't need facebook anymore for meta headsets and just buy a better router you can even just dedicate it to virtual desktop if you want. Wireless quest 2 is less hassle than vive pro 2. I have used wireless OG Vive and the hoops you jump through to keep it going is a PIA. Once you get the initial quest 2 shit setup and download virtual desktop it's really easy to get going. Biggest annoyance is having to calibrate every once in a while if you afk. Otherwise my tracking stays decent and the quest 2 is very comfy with a nice strap.

There are some weird things about it tho. Never heard of any issues with EAC and Virtual Desktop and your internet speed is completely a non-issue I've used virtual desktop wireless quest 2 setup on gigabit and on trash tier 15 megabit per second bottom of the barrel internet for modern day. Only factor that matters is a good router. I still run my original 1.0 base stations and as long as you have them mounted high up and they can see eachother or if not you get a long 3.5mm audio cable they work fine. Mine have outlived some friends 2.0 base stations that had far less use hours. For the price I think the quest 2 wireless is far better imo. To each there own though I'm sure you'll be happy with a VP2 wireless.

Virtual Desktop basically emulates a USB-connected Quest1/2, EAC doesn't care.
Virtual Desktop only uses your wifi, internet speed does't matter.
The Vive Wireless adapter gets warm, but not heats-your-head warm. The occasional greyouts ( usually once per session ) are annoying, but can be mostly eliminated with more fans, ideally on both receiver and antenna.
Now that it's getting cold outside I just get a 1 second interrupt that doesn't cause any problems.
I use my Vive Pro for srs gaming, and Quest1/Pico4 for causal/social VR, mostly because the VP is bulky, and I only have the Vive Wands.

Order some prescription lens inserts from vroptician hopefully they help. I did try a few little games like The Lab and Half Life 2 VR and it seems very engaging. I got the EOZ straps and after few months of daily use the velcro got kinda used up and it doesn't hold as good anymore. Also I dance a lot and dancing barefoot really takes a toll on your soles. I would recommend getting VR shoes. Just buy a comfortable pair of shoes you will only use for VR and strap the trackers on them with zip ties.

Airlink can be better, but more unstable and generally more of a pain. AMD used to be kinda broken with Airlink but they finally fixed it.
VD just works.
Relive is basically abandoned, only works if you disable controllers last I tried.
ALVR has a lot of tinkering options, but getting the server running can be a nightmare, everything very inconvenient.
Just get VD.

I don't use airlink with my Q2, but I do use the wired option and it just works, no real complaints beyond "it's faceborg shit". I never tried VD/Relive, ALVR worked but the quality was pretty not great, although I didn't edit my settings at all. Never had ALVR or the wired option not work or be hard to setup. I have an RX580 and didn't run into problems.

Weird jitter is probably spacewarp, can disable it under streaming settings ( off, auto, always on ).
Basically renders PC side at half the framerate, then generates extra frames on the quest to fill in the gaps.
Often best to avoid completely, but does better at 120hz ( 60 real frames, 60 fake frames ) than at 90hz ( 45 real, 45 fake )

Hands, or anything moving fast too close to you, is indeed where spacewarp struggles.
Game latency is just your frame time ( time to render 1 frame on PC ). You're not quite able to maintain 90fps ( 11.1ms ), which is why spacewarp (auto) is kicking in.
Decoding is a bit high because you have video buffering enabled; disabling it decreases latency, but may introduce stutters. Generally leave on.
Decoding latency might be brought down by lowering bitrate or using h264 instead, but there's always going to be a tradeoff

Quest 2 doesn't require wifi 6, it can help if your signal is weak or if you have other devices using up all of your bandwidth but wifi 5 already has more bandwidth than the Quest can use, the bottleneck is the Quest video decoding.
