I'm interested in what actually gets produced. The idea of it being produced individually for the user is pretty cool, the weird stance the company supposedly has of underselling the specs so they don't overhype seems like it'll shoot them in the foot and already is. The FoV of the headset is apparently quite higher than 90. more similar to q2 FoV.
I'd say its pretty worth it BUT only if it was maybe closer to $700 or $800 maybe? 1k seems way to high for no base-stations nor controllers nor audio.

Quite literally what I thought about doing so many times, but it begs the question why no company ever did it. Or at least offered a kit separately.
Thus I appreciate that a company finally takes this approach, even if there are more efficient ways. The idea is out there for others to pick up. Same goes for micro OLED and pancake lenses, also keeping lighthouse tracking. With better FOV and a wireless solution, it would be great, I'd even pay more and deal with some more weight.

Make sure your spine is straight in Blender, if the chain between hips and neck/head is all bendy and goes forward/backwards a bit then straighten it out in Armature Edit Mode. You see this particularly often on models that have the neck far back and then the head bone far forward.

I think the point is that if it runs like the Oculus CV1/Rift S did, you're basically layering SteamVR on top of Oculus which is not exactly great. The Oculus Store version of VRChat sees some performance benefits because it only needs the Oculus software to run.

It isn't people talking about it that raises my suspicion, it's the constant downplaying of any shortcomings the device clearly has. For years everyone has wanted more FoV and more QoL features, this thing comes out with the WORST FUCKING FOV of any available device and absolutely zero features but a high resolution and the narrative is suddenly "Oh those things don't matter, you don't want any of that, this is perfect it's the best ever buy buy buy!" and it just doesn't sit right with me.

I think the comfort, higher resolution, pancake lenses, and OLED screen seem nice.
No built in audio sucks, but they do have an addon like the Vive DAS
Refresh rate isn't as high as I'd like either, but that wouldn't necessarily be a dealbreaker.
FOV is really the only major drawback I see other than the price I guess. Both of those combined are enough for me to pass on it though.

Once you're at or over Q2 resolution the two most important immersion qualities are refresh rate and FoV, both of which this thing falls down on. Never forget it is designed for watching movies, a situation where you're just sitting there, looking in one direction focused on a screen.

They're marketing it as a SteamVR headset with full support for games, I don't see why they wouldn't advertise the full FOV when other headsets use it as a selling point.
Smaller FOV also gives you higher PPD, which is nice if you're using the headset to watch movies. If that's the intended use case, it would make sense, although I can't see anyone spending $1000 on a headset plus a few hundred more on controllers and base stations and just using to watch movies.

It technically is if all you care about is pixel density since lowering the FOV increases the PPD at the same resolution. There's more to immersion than that though, and with the high resolution display they have, it doesn't seem like they really need to make that tradeoff. We're still looking for improvements to the map to better facilitate high impact nice friending.
I've had both comments that they like the new card category system while also having comments that it still sucks.
How can we go about this?
There are also requests to have an easier time knowing if the timer is about to end and I think that is possible to do no worries. I'll place the timer in the summonable menu too potentially. And make the summonable menu not grabbable when hidden.

For next year I think UI polish and Lobby area is the target since the room variety is already quite high.
I still want to have the lightning round workable somehow...
Any thoughts, opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

While that is a good suggestion there has been really good counter arguments for it's existence.
Since it forces people to click the extend button else they look like a heartless monster.

What I can do instead as a compromise is to make it a background thing that is rarer. Instead of it being there available every time it can be an "earned" token.
Say at every "recess" round people get to earn an "extend" coin they can use that extends the round for you two for 5 minutes.
It being a resource and rarer means there is no pressure to click on anything.

Can be as low as 25 seconds to as high as 25 minutes iirc.

The lightning round is a default feature of the map the host can toggle off.
It occurs sorta like the group round periodically.
It shuffles players lightning fast at 1 minute per round for 5 rounds total of 5 minutes.

Another P.T. style horror map, you know how it goes: travel through the map, getting more and more into darkness with each circle, and finally discover what’s on the bottom of all that.
Great visual style here, slowly changing lights from shining sun into the dark night, measured story paste and nice sound design(really recommend having world sounds hearable). The feeling of being unwelcomed gets really strong, especially if you play by yourselfand, and thoughts of running away gets only stronger further you go…
Best be played solo or a group of 2-6 people. Everything here is local so try keeping everyone roughly at same paste, and enjoy your time!

People think it'll be high pressured big event.
But at the end of the day it's an event that isolates you into a 1-on-1 comfy situation. So it becomes very comfortable very quickly and you can easily take breaks if you need to by respawning into the lobby.

When I tried to make rough waves in one of my worlds, I edited a version of the water normal map texture so that the wave peaks were white and used that as an albedo texture in addition to the wave normal maps. it solves all the issues I have with my vive pro 2:
- 7x less weight
- oled for true black color
- pancake optics for no fresnel lens artifacts
- no ipd adjustment - all of these shitty ipd adjustment mechanisms are not robust enough and break your setting if you bump your headset in a wrong way, and you notice it too late when your eyes get sore
fov is worse and there's no 120hz, but I'd rather have oled with pure black colors than a bit more fov, oled alone makes it all worth it

I watched thrills video on the new headset.
It's a great headset for vr youtubers but not many more people, since it's so expensive it only makes sense as a business expense and it doesn't even come with base stations and controllers so you have to drop another 500 on those. And of course you need high end PC too. Plus fixed ipd and all that shit.
So, the only thing it offers is basically high quality displays with shit FOV and it's smaller than other headsets.
Perfect vr youtuber bait, but it won't see many sales from regular vr users is my guess.
