If image in the headset looks blurry but fine on the monitor, increase your rendering resolution!
If you start to feel sick when playing, stop and have a rest. You'll get your VR legs eventually, just don't push it.

I ended up placing a reservation for the bigscreen headset. US gets it before me so if it's a POS I'll just cancel before it ships.

It's about what the quest 2 is in reality, and that's my main headset so I'm not too upset with it.
Whatever the deckard is will not have the form factor of this, so in my mind whatever valve releases can't beat it in that department which is something I put stock into.

I'm in the same position, the Rift S is still very tolerable for me but every now and then I really want higher FoV or to go wireless. I should have bought an Index years ago and now that we're moving closer to pancake lenses, smaller form factor and wireless being commonplace I can't justify buying one at full price. It was the controller issues that put me off more than anything, hearing from loads of people who needed to RMA multiple times or seeing them struggle ingame to grip/drop things made the knuckles look like an overpriced meme.

They said the demo only has Rift support, so I haven't tried it. The game is simple but fun for a Lemmings-like. I'm already tasting some challenge, especially with the user-created levels. I hope the VR mode doesn't have the jarring automatic camera movements.

I realized that it's only published by the same people as Rez Infinite and Tetris Effect, while the developer is different. That restores my hope for a Rez sequel.

Take and Hold is the only one I found fun for any significant amount of time. Lots of weapons suits the RNG. You should mod more maps and characters (spawnlists) in.
Shooting ranges are shooting ranges.
The zombie one is a campaign with a story but it's not exciting.
Wild west theme park is just minigames and walking around. Gets old very fast.
There's a horror one with a maze and 'puzzles'. Never bothered to complete it.
A Christmas arena has a few different modes, one is an alright wave defense with a tedious score mechanic.
TF2 mode. Some people seem to like this. It's an infinite team deathmatch, meh.

Probably another few shitty modes I forgot, unfortunately it's a disjointed collection of whatever the developer wanted to work on at the time.

Vox feels so good to play but I can't for the life of me understand why they won't give it better maps and gamemodes. All that effort and it's being held back by a tutorial campaign, barebones co-op and dead PvP. Just take the low hanging fruit and add a co-op wave defence mode with some added enemy variety. I wanna jump in and blow stuff up, not travel across the map or listen to the story.

Bluetooth being blocked by your body is pretty normal and more or less the biggest flaw of the technology.
Put the dongles to a better place and it'll work out fine. If you put it directly on your PC, it'll cause interference as well. Get 20-30cm of cable and put it somewhere else.
I'm not super thin, but not fat and I also have no problems with the signal going "around me".
Sorry for assuming. Had low blood sugar.

Where is the sale? I usually compare against historic Steam prices at https://steamdb.info/ , sometimes a game you're not sure on will have a deeper discount during the big Steam sales so it's better to wait.

Superhot is usually overpriced. There's not much game or replayabilty there.
I expect you to die is similar so preferably get it on a good discount.
Ragnarock has one niche, being better than Beat Saber for metal music and it's worth it if that's what you're into.
Synth Riders is much more 'dancey' than Beat Saber and a better workout. I prefer it even though I can't dance for shit.
Dragon Fist is underrated but only if you have a decent playspace so you don't dragon fist a hole into the wall.

true but trackmania isnt a race wheel game and having a FFB peripheral like a race wheel or an old joystick to control your movement in VR removes a lot of the disorientation you would otherwise experience since you can feel what is happening with the vehicle in the wheel/joystick and you learn to understand what that means and begin to get a sense of movement more based on what you feel the device is doing. and thats why race sims go so well with VR. flight sims arent as big a deal imo largely because FFB hasnt been implemented in joysticks/yokes really for 20+ years, aside from a few niche brands which only work with a few niche flight sims unlike the old FFB which works in most flight sims

Depends. If you can't join a raid without other people filling all the player slots, it'll be dead on arrival because you won't be able to get a lobby in off peak times. They have been getting a lot of sponsorship/partnership deals with other companies and have quest cross-play so I imagine they'll be okay on money. Inventory management looks okay.
I'm a huge sucker for looter shooters and extraction shooters so I'm an easy sell and the 20USD price point is great too. Guess I'll find out in 2 weeks when the alpha comes around if I get a key.

No, I'll still try it though. It looks jank and very unrefined from videos. I suspect that will be the case for netcode and severs on release too. Skeptical about the amount of content, someone said it's only been in development for a year, that's both impressive and worrying. These extraction games rely on keeping you working towards a goal, the less content there is the harder it becomes to provide a variety of goals before the playerbase burns out.

I'm not a fan of copying Tarkov with different editions of the game. They'll ruin some of the early 'wipe' uniqueness when people who pay more skip starting with nothing like everyone else. At least it looks like there's no gamma case tier exclusive bullshit.

>when people who pay more skip starting with nothing like everyone else
The differences from the tiers below them are as follows:
T2
>shotgun+ammo
>another gun storage wall
T3
>tier 3 rig
>intel room(?)
T4
>another kind of backpack
>second common area(?)
>shooting range
>trader relationship bonus
T5
>fancy arm band
>season pass for more dlc
Each also has just straight up more of the stuff the lower tiers start with obviously but because you can only bring so much stuff in per raid the only thing it's really stopping is the early game gear fear. T4 is double the T1 standard edition price at 40USD. Honestly it's looking to me like the major difference is the extra storage walls and maybe the intel room if that gets some purpose in future. No idea if it's possible to spend in game materials to upgrade your safehouse but I imagine if it isn't then that'll be it.
As for that early wipe tarkov magic I get the feeling it'll also be like tarkov in that everyone who is going to sweat it out and grind for the good shit will do so in the opening hours of a wipe. I doubt you'll run into p2w faggotry more often than sweatlords being as they always are.

It does not matter that you are pointing out that the parents are bad.

Your voice is the one of your entire generation.

"Nobody cares."
You will be forced to care, and your care will not come without enormous hardship and suffering.

You, and many others, will suffer for not caring.
I hope the hardly comfortable days of swinging your arms around in a fake, plasticine digital world was worth not caring, because I can tell you it will not be worth anything when it comes.

When it comes, there will be nothing you can do.

No one will help you.

There will be nothing to help any of you.

Your savings and possessions will be seen as a joke.

The entire work and labors of your life will be as if you never existed at all.
That is what not caring will afford you.

There will be nowhere to run.

You will be afforded the death of a dog.

Because your thoughts and heart are set on evil.

You waste your days not even enjoying the time you spend in VR.
But somehow, you have the wicked energy to mock the truth of VR.

This the truth of VR.

It is being used to sexually abuse children.

You can do something about this.

You can stop supporting VR.

Finger tracking and the strap is the only thing that the Index controllers have over the Meta Quest, but besides that everything is better on the Pro controllers. Bigger battery, better buttons, nice hefty weight, better ergonomics, better build quality, more accurate and stronger haptics, better triggers, it has a magnetic port which also comes with a charging dock, and then the biggest selling point is how each controller has a mobile chip to do it's own tracking.

You save way more money when compared to buying base stations + Index controller to have the same level of tracking. By the way, the finger tracking is extremely under utilized on the index controllers so it's pretty useless. It also doesn't work 100% of the time when you're using it. I would only consider the strap to be the thing that stands out, and that's it.

The problem right now is that increasing FoV will come at the cost of size/weight decreases, current optics development, keeping reasonable performance requirements and low manufacturing cost. All of which have a stronger impetus behind them.
I'm hopeful it will return so that the standard bumps up to at least Valve Index level but I think we're in for a wait.
Eye tracked foveated rendering should help with the performance problem and if distortion becomes an issue for non-Pimax products too then it may enable distortion correction methods that don't make people sick.

Not an issue if you make the controllers ambidextrous, they can just swap hands. But maybe that's a bit too tough for your modern designer.

Flatscreen shooters are no longer even a thing for me. After VR, no manual reloading, no actual physical ADS, no holding the gun just kills it. Left click for death not so exciting anymore, no screenshake or boom sound will make it better.

He was being realistic. It's not useful in the short term because the limited FoV and resolution of the Quest 2 doesn't allow you to save enough performance to make up for what you spend using it nor justify the increased hardware cost.
Higher FoVs will benefit more because area covered by the foveal vision remains the same while despite having a larger panel. That means a larger proportion can have it's image quality decreased.

He was dispelling the nonsense about "It's going to give us several times more performance". It is useful, but only to the tune of around +30-40% on a very good day with how the tech currently works right now. Which is good and absolutely worth investing in eventually, that's a sizable difference in something with and without it, a whole GPU generation's worth, but it's not going to be revolutionary.

I already notice it on my Quest pro. The foveated rendering in games like Red Matter 2 and Pokerstars lags, so when you are looking at the edge of the lenses it will take a second or more for the rendering to catch up. Everything looks super blurry and aliased for a bit as a result. Maybe headsets like the Vive Pro eye do it differently.

I tried Raytracing in RE8VR and at times it was legitimately amazing how it could impact a scene, the subtle changes stick out for you a lot more in VR, but I got this really weird flickering for shadows, particularly in the outlines of character models, which was too distracting and I had to turn it off. It's kind of hit or miss. As I said, in some cases, looks nice. In other cases, it's a bit messy. You win some and you lose some. I still got these screenshots in RE7 when I was playing around in the starting area with it a bit back and fine tuning settings. I think I had FSR on for the RT since FPS was below comfortable levels otherwise, so it's not exactly like for like due to the loss of some sharpness, but the differences should be quite apparent in the lighting and shadows.

Ignore Pimax, if fucking around with settings was already too much for you then Pimax will make you abandon VR for good. Pimax missed the Crystal release date by a mile and even the battered wives known as Pimax fans are getting sick of their shit.
Shitfall are still making the MeganeX but no point getting hyped about another prototype product with no release date.

People cope that it's like looking through a dive mask but it really is worse than that. It's like looking through hand binoculars, and coincedentally making hand binoculars is about the size of the headset on your face, so you wonder if the lenses are doing anything at all except allowing you to focus on something 3 inches away

The actual gameplay of War Thunder is fun though, it's the monetization that destroys the fun of the game towards the mid/end tiers. If you have the self control to stop once it stops being fun you can still get a lot of enjoyment out of it and I think it would be one of the best VR games, even if it was only the planes in VR with good VR controls. If you're one of the way too many people that have 1000+ hours and have become completely jaded you might forget that tiers 1-4 are pretty well paced and fun to play.

Can someone explain to me how you're supposed to emulate games in VR? I don't get it. Not about running the emulator in VR, that's not the problem. The problem is the controller. I can boot up steam VR and run an emulator through steam, no problem. But the problem is Steam VR disables big picture from running in the background, which means any controllers you try to connect simply don't work. But that doesn't stop steam from "stealing" their input. This makes it functionally impossible for me to play on an emulator in VR since there's no way to use a controller. I don't understand how people are doing it.

For the record I'm trying to emulate Virtual Boy in VR, specifically.

It bothers me not knowing if deckard is going to be announced this year, 2024, 2025 even. I can ignore half life 3, it's one game. But I'm only interested in buying valve's next headset, and I've been passing on VR for years now even though I know how much I like it. All headsets are flawed and missing critical features for future proofing, even the expensive ones. I'd be fine with paying $1000 if I couldn't point out something obviously missing from the headset that's going to annoy me later.

Maybe I just need to pick up a used G2. But last time I used one was the V1 version. The tracking volume was annoying once but what I really didn't like was WMR and just how stupid and hard to use the software was. When I tried a quest 2 I could not believe how much facebook absolutely mogged microsoft. Does anyone know if it's been improved? I'm talking about retaded, -fire this employee now- ideas like "flashlight" instead of just showing you the entire external view, WMR consuming vram when I'm not using it, the adjustment for floor level being hidden in a menu instead of initial setup and taking a long time to redo every time it breaks, etc.
Anonymous No.421545336

They redid the WMR software/home and you can boot straight into SteamVR now which is nice. Don't expect the tracking to get better, I use my Index controllers with my G2 for a reason.

Q2 sold well but it has a low attachment rate. People played it right after they bought it but they are now collecting dust all the same. If facebook just whipped up some more games for it wouldn't fix anything, I don't think people would notice.

Attempting to fix their situation facebook is going to bring AR with the quest 3 which will renew the novelty. The performance will be better, which helps with ports I guess. I still don't think this will fix anything in the long run because you're not getting the developer resources of powerful consoles like xbox and playstation.

But no one is going to burn their money making dedicated VR games with such a low install base. The biggest flatscreen games like call of duty and GTA need to be codeveloped with VR modes. They can't fully take advantage of VR this way, but at least you can play AAA in VR. Microsoft also needs to make a fucking xbox headset.

PCVR will only be saved if console VR makes it and games get rereleased on PC
Anonymous No.421590674

Low attachment rate was only a recent thing (as in the past year). It was part of the recent they bumped the baseline price of the hardware up since they couldn't rely on each headset selling enough software to break them even on that plus the rise in hardware parts.

PCVR just have to play into its strengths instead of being a lost child of vr industry.
Indie devs have to make high-tech good porn games which utilize the high performance of PC, that's it. Something which
is simply impossible on consoles or standalone shit.
The vr audience is too small to support big studios, but big enough to support talented indies. The problem is that our indies are hacks who keep making low-effort trash in unity.

It's a fool's errand to try to force adoption with gimmicks. It's just not going to work. VR has to grow organically. Zucc can keep burning money for all I care though.

They dipped their toes with Medal of Honor but that's an irrelevant franchises and wasn't handled with enough care, I guess they gave up after that.
If they get the ball rolling and the platform sells very well, the publishers will want to get in on it despite the technical limitations, like with the Wii, Switch and mobile.

It's not a roguelite even. You get a classes to pick from which all have a primary weapon. You can pick up enemy weapons but not reload or store them so you're basically just stuck with the one weapon for the entire run. After a run you can upgrade and during a run you can find charms, but otherwise the gameplay is entirely dependent on class. At level 5 for each class you can unlock the next. Maps are short sections but procedurally generated. You get a couple of lives but dying repawns all enemies in that level. Going to your dead body and praying gets you your souls back (like dark souls). Not much of a story to speak of though there really could have been if they actually did do some storytelling.

You press trigger to open and close it, I've never had it stay shut but I do have serious problems trying to actually grab it instead of taking my armor off. What's not clear to me is why you can't put certain items in there like pistols or rope and whether there's a storage limit.

Besides the bugs/jank it copies Tarkov far too much with no identity of it's own and the few things that it does try to add are not well thought out.
The custom armor/rig pouch system is needlessly complex and makes looting or swapping out for a new one awkward and time consuming. Finding one in raid feels shit because it has no pouches.
The player base is a clusterfuck. It's way too big with slow ass doors in between the rooms and it's not clear where your loot even saves properly. Organising gear was already tedious enough in Tarkov, now you have to load into a different map just to buy stuff.
Enemies shitting out their items onto the floor usually means it gets covered by their dead body or is hard to see in the dark rooms. Being shot because you can't find the unlit magazine in some dead dude's ass isn't engaging gameplay. Worse than fishing for the bomb in Pavlov.

Apparently your options are to practice putting your sights under your cross dominant eye, or blocking out a small spot of your cross dominant eye's vision in the center where your sights are (in real life, a piece of tape over safety glasses). Some people also turn or move their head. Just do what works, the only thing I'd agree is "bad" is shooting with one eye closed just because it's uncomfortable to do all the time.

I don't know why people with cross eye dominance don't naturally do the first one though. How are they bringing their sights under their right eye and fucking up exactly?

Meanwhile choosing between Valheim VR mod or SkyrimVR. I know that both games must be awful for melee VR combat(especially considering vanilla Skyrim combat system, even Morrowind aged better)
Valheim modding looks much better to play, meanwhile Skyrim mod monstrosity and amount of troubleshooting depresses

This is the problem with VR. Non-crazies aren't crazy enough to work on it.

I liked Skyrim a lot more as far as actual gameplay. The VR interactivity is much better due to mods with HIGGS and PLANCK letting you interact with every NPC and item, and the combat having real depth with spellsiphon letting you do sick magic combos. What really sells it for me is that there is a lot of actual handmade content. The vanilla quests are one thing, but stuff like Bruma, Project AHO, The Forgotten City, Enderal etc., can give you more quests to do than the base game many times over. Valheim is fun too but it runs much worse than Skyrim VR. I can keep 90fps in SkyrimVR as I don't use an ENB, but Valheim at the lowest settings gets maybe 40-50fps for me. I prefer that game flat honestly.

Whats with all these small companies looking like they are missing the kill shot on purpose? If I ever went to a trade show I'd be asking how business works, do you just fuck around and wait for a corporation to acquire you or something? Because their product is a terrible value and can't seriously compete, or it has some horrible flaw that even if I were looking at making a stupid decision with my money, I can't even get something I like.

So take this bigscreen for example. Very stripped down headset that's designed to be small and comfortable with a fantastic micro oled picture for people who already own an index and are invested in the lighthouse and controllers, have cable management etc. Doesn't have eye or face tracking, which is really gimp for enthusiasts so far but that's not what pisses me off most. They got this fucker tiny. Now I don't know much about engineering VR headsets, but if you could just put bigger lenses in it with the top and bottom chopped off and went with wider LCDs it won't produce this giant drive in theater on your face like a pimax. At this size no one is going to care if the headset is extra wide. You would have a headset that's small, looks amazing, AND breaks ground on FOV. Instead fuck you enjoy your 90 degrees.

It's all a balancing game. The big one here is that a wider headset means higher resolution, and graphics cards have all been crippled for the past decade so nothing can run at higher resolutions. That's why all this VR 2.0 stuff feels like VR 1.5. Nothing can output 90hz at a sensible resolution.

So either you have a high PPD, or you have a high FOV.

>>421891094
Melee in skyrim VR is atrocious and would require a complete rebuild that nobody is willing to do, if it's even possible. Are there any gun mods for skyrim VR? I wouldn't mind running around with a dwemer pistol headshotting dragons and shit, bow stuff is mediocre and magic is too slow.

I wonder if it's worth ivesting in base stations and controllers from Valve considering I have a G2 and the whole setup as far as I've seen is a massive gimmick with a bunch of dongles and bullshit. At the same time I'm waiting for an upgrade and it seems most new headsets that will be worth it will use stations. >it seems most new headsets that will be worth it will use stations.
I have stations and I think it's the opposite, the market is moving towards inside out junk because retards all live in rented shitholes and are terrified of putting a few holes in their walls. Valve stopped making lighthouses, and deck makes me think they're likely combining the two to make their own stand-alone headset. HTC have never made anything but crap and they're the only other big lighthouse creator, and Pimax are falling apart.

The thing with controllers is where is there to go? You still need a large object to track that isn't covered by the hand, and Index was the best solution to that. Nobody is adding more buttons, so unless you can make controllers for half the price of Valve, which nobody seems capable of, there's no point.

Lighthouse does seem like it can result in light headsets, though, which might be important going forward. But even then, none of the old Index stuff is really coming down in price, so you're looking at paying 1k+ for VR, which is insane given how little there is on offer.
