Would anyone be up for hosting a trivia night? I've only ever asked questions for the most part. I've never really done the question-answering part. If not, I wouldn't mind hosting again if we could get some more people.
>what time?
10pm EST on Saturday for the meet and greet and from there maybe get an early start like last time.
>questions?
I haven't come up with any new ones. If someone else wants to host, I can give you what I came up with. Failing that, the room we used last time comes with a bunch of quiz questions already, but they're more general trivia and not /v/,/tv/, and /a/content-oriented.
>What about prizes?
If I'm not hosting I wouldn't be responsible but if I am, I'd want at least 4 players. I may opt into GoG/humble bundle codes and let people pick their prizes with set dollar amount limits depending on how well they did in game. That way I can just hand out codes for prizes.
>That room you used last time kinda sucked
I know. If you have a recommendation for a similar but better room, I'd be happy to try a new venue.
>I want to do a different game show!
If there's a room that can accommodate it, I wouldn't mind some Jeopardy or Wheel of fortune style world.

Q3 is going to be super light and compact compared to anything we have now.

Big Screen may be top in comfort but that will cost more than twice as much and won't have wireless.

I would hold off though on Q3 to make sure PCVR is working so don't preorder and wait for reviews

for q2 with fbt recommended to use space calibrator in continue calibration mode so you'll need a 4th tracker to go on the q2.
Quite a few anons are using pico 4/pico 4 pro instead now though. I'd reccomend the p4 over the q2 if you don't have a quest library you wanna keep playing.

Getting the pico 4 in Canada was proving to be a whole thing. Though looking again now, I see an official Newegg listing for 600cad, which isn't too too much of a rip with the exchange rate. And a few used listings on eBay closer to 400 that don't look too bad.
What's stopping me is a) is it really twice as good as a used quest2, which can be had for 200 and has the bigger standalone library and much more 3rd party support and probably better tracking? And b) no 3.5mm jack is almost a deal-breaker. I have some nice earphones that I guess I just can't use with them.
Apart from the pancake lenses and higher resolution, what has the P4 got on the quest 2 that makes its PCVR experience worth double the price?

>Q3 is going to be super light and compact compared to anything we have now.
The decision to keep the battery in the front results in the Quest 3 reportedly having a weight of 509 grams; 6 grams more than the Quest 2.
For comparison the Pico 4 is 295g without the back-strap containing the battery.
While the weight is practically unchanged, being slightly smaller and having the weight closer to your face will hopefully result in less perceived weight
Anonymous No.441421274 Replies: >>441422635

> Pico 4
Pros: Much, much better field of view and overlap. Lighter and more compact.
Cons: Limited native library, bad hand tracking, supposedly worse tracking but feels fine to me. Pancake lenses are great but internal reflections are severe. Screen contrast worse. Early batches had warped lenses.

Worth it if you're getting the Pico 4 Pro for face-tracking, but otherwise waiting a tiny bit for a mostly-equivalent-or-better ( hopefully ) Quest 3 is probably the better option, or a used Quest 2 if you're strapped for cash.

I think most people are interested in eye and facetracking, but don't want to put the work in to make it work well. I don't blame them, I've set it up 4 times now, three of those times were completely from scratch.

I keep switching between twin stick movement and armswinger in H3VR.
Armswinger feels a bit more 'involved' than just gliding across the floor, feels a bit more planted in the physical space, but it's weirdly tricky to keep just going straight forwards - like it always wants me to move off to the side no matter what.
Anonymous No.441454602

I used to had armswinger. I tried to force myself to use it and I could see why someone would like it. But I did just switch back to twin. Im also so used to head direction movement because of vrc that I stopped using hand based direction. I want to try the hip locomotion again. Overall h3vr locomotion is kinda half baked and ment for vive wands because anton sucks my nuts.

Alright motherfuckers it is that time of the week again! Friend by Friend is this weekend, in terms of events, it is the one to go to if you want to get to meet a ton of folks you have not talked to, great time. Get a solid model for it because you are going to be there for hours! There is also a fashion event of some kind, so slap some shit together in blender and use data transfer.

Been doing VR games other then Ghost of Tabor so it is time to monkey and schedule 7pm 10pm EST Tabor. Going to be playing it up until that time as well when Bald Gate can stop being a vise.

DM *or reply* to the shop man if you want tabletop simulator to be usable in VR.

:: FRIEND BY FRIEND - /vrg/ Shuffler Event - REWIND Edition | August 12 ::
Thanks again to everyone who helped stress test it. The map has been fully updated and confirmed to work with the current version of UDON.
Major changes include:
1) The debug menu is now only accessible by the host. (This is the round robin grid in the lobby)
2) Interrogation room now shows who are in it (max of 8 people)
3) Host now has a way to easily summon their ban system.
4) There are 10 pieces of a yotsuba easter egg spread across the different rooms.

The hosts are now assembled and ready as well. The new password will be revealed on the world link they will post during the start of the event!

Friends come from all places and walks of lives.

5 minutes at a time with another anon in a room 1 on 1 while everyone gets shuffled round robin style until everyone in the room gets matched up.
Build NEW and OLD friendships alike through around the whole town/city and unexpected locations with people you usually don't get to talk with.

Question/Action cards are available on the table in the middle for when you don't know what to talk about.
And no complaining about the card quality if you didn't send one!

And as always, hope everyone have fun with each other and forge great friendships after the event!

Instance is going to be groups+ so we will have queuing and jannies can moderate each other's instances. Though they ill be assigned a main instance they'll focus on to segregate the workload evenly. But they are free to just go around the other instances yeah. Compared to the host that just stays put on their own instance, jannies are a bit more free-er.
Also Rhyperior is another person who can do jannie duty if you need him.
He's an introvert though so can only do it for 2-3 hrs after the event starts.

I suggest going to L's EU instance for the most extreme of interrogations
Also suggesting faking being a non-4channer first to get their eyes so you can be with them in the interrogation room alone.

If we had a Pat Sajak bot that'd be neat. On the other hand, with a sophisticated LM and good voice synth, you could have gawr gura or some other anime character bot hosting for us.

do some snow drifting, like H2 in Monaco in Dirt Rally 2, or https://worlddrifttour.com/ snow drift pack for Assetto Corsa. It's basically drifting in slow motion, so you can learn the motions easier. After that you can accelerate with easy to drift WDTS normal drift cars.

People say this about every single spoonfed rando that wanders their way into here. Not saying it isn't true in this case, but for every rando that answers "I don't know what a board is" there is someone behind them saying "nooo they have been around longer than you have chud they started using the website in like the 15th century!!!"
Being in old pics doesn't mean much either, they could simply be someone's years-long friend or wormed their way into acceptance. It's easy to stay under the radar if you're a familiar face.

And the main people who advocate for Kilroy staying are also known rando magnets which isn't helping his case much, just saying

Reminder to subtly grill people about the boards they use and if they're randos, start a votekick on them and the instance owners should take care of it. The code will keep most of the randos out but there will inevitably be people talking about the code and a lot of these animals will just hang around spawn and refuse to leave.
I hope the jannies will patrol spawn around break time and kick randos who refuse to leave, the hardcap is only so high and I don't want it taken up by some mute desktop TDA's.

I think their point is that she literally only came to a vrg meetup by friending 2 people in a pug and then joining off of them
Which is true by the way, according to my instance join logs. She got a join link from Yuru apparently, but she has NEVER attended NA hours until she had already visited some EU instances. She said so herself.
This places the timeline in such a way that she joined EU instances first by joining off a friend, found out about vrg only then, and after that she asked for a join link on here and joined an NA instance. Her first time in a meetup according to my logs was the night of january 14th (and then jan 15th after midnight).
Ivana literally came in here through a friend.

It holds no water because all the ivana criticism about her being a rando, her dishing out votekicks constantly after barely a week of being here or her avatarfagging? All that criticism died out the instant she started her /trash/ coomer arc. It's too transparent.

Not simping, I just keep a mental record of people who join off me legitimately. It comes with the job.
Also, you guys put way too much value on whether someone is from 4chan or not. I don't mean that in a it's not important rando enabling way, I mean that in the sense that we'd had some absolutely horrible people who are legitimately from 4chan but still absolutely horrible pass through these halls over the years.
Evaluating people is a lot more complex than just asking if they're from 4chan or not.

Which doesn't mean much if they were spoonfed into this place before you even saw them.
This whole argument is a bit silly though, ID self-evidently browses 4chan. She just didn't find this specific thread organically in the slightest.
It could be worse, I think the VP randos are a more pressing issue. ID doesn't cause trouble if you just mute her (and disable avatar interactions with her because she will put her coomer shit over your head). The VP fags will invade instances actively.

Into the Radius is pretty fun, though I made the mistake of thinking that enemies would be more sparse during my first expedition and didn't bring nearly enough ammo, especially given how tanky fucking everything is. However, it doesn't quite scratch the itch for a shooter given how Stalker-esque it is. What's the COD campaign of VR games where it's not about looting shit and atmospheric horror but just shooting AIs as I go through a mission? Vertigo 2 looked somewhat close but still felt like it had a bunch of puzzles and shit that broke up the flow of just capping people.

I'm only on medium, so I presume it's just that the early game guns suck. They die when I shotgun them, it's just tanking of multiple Mak rounds to the dome that I didn't expect and melee always seems to get me punished while kiting with throwing a knife and gravity gloving it back to my hand a couple of times was silly and also not reliable. This time around I'm bringing 25+ shotgun shells which should be more then enough instead of not even filling up the speedloader loops on the sawn off the first time. My real problem is figuring out what to do with the fucking notes since they don't pack flat so I can't just shove them in one of the desk drawers.

Like you noticed, smaller cars with shorter wheelbases are less stable, and it's harder to stay sideways with less power, so I wouldn't start on those.
The drift version of the E30 M3 from the base game is really good to learn on, just look up some videos on how to drift IRL and try to do what they're doing until it clicks. Once you're used to it, the techniques transfer over pretty well.
The basic drift track Assetto comes with is pretty good for practice even though it's a bit boring.

Is there any way to get the new official Quake 2 campaigns or models working in the Quake 2 VR mod or Quake 2 Quest? I've tried loading the campaign in and it just crashes. I'm not sure if I need some sort of launch argument to get things working.

I have no moral problem with pirating a game and buying it later if I like it enough.

I swear no one reads the instruction on how to play the game next to the door.

By clicking your left and right trigger at the same time, it summons a menu with all the people in map. Once you match with someone they get a "check mark" next to their name so you can't get matched with the anymore.
You can however uncheck this so you can match with them again if both of you are unchecked on each other's menu.
Conversely you can checkmark someone prematurely and you can't get matched with them ever even if it's only on your side.

That shit is for people with money, not niggers and faggots living off welfare. FUCK SLIMEVR, ban trannies who are outed using it.

I have tried it on my Quest 2, it's worse picture quality and more latency.
I considered a Quest Pro for a bit but the video compression on the 2 was too much for me to deal with, no amount of fiddling with the settings made it look perfect. And if I wanted to use the Quest Pro's eye/face tracking I would have to use Airlink which is even worse. I'll cope with no eye tracking until a good headset with eye tracking finally comes out that isn't wireless shit.

Tracking pavlov, breachers, contractors, ghosts of tabor, and some single players.

They're all in the $20-30 range so it isn't like I can't buy them all, I just don't feel like buying them all at this time.

Ghosts of Tabor is great if you're Tarkov-brained and you get to shoot questies. Pavlov is going to be one of your best bets overall for PvP. Breachers and Contractors aren't super populated and you'll probably mostly be playing those in vrg lobbies.

Just finished DoomVFR (it's on sale for 2 bucks right now). Doom VFR is 3 hours long on maximum difficulty...

After you configure it a bit and play on maximum difficulty level it's actually pretty fun.

They actually added smooth locomotion somewhen a few years ago. You need to go to settings turn on smooth locomotion (fast), disable dashes. I also recommend mapping teleport (you still have to use it), shield and weapon select wheel to right stick left/up/right in SteamVR bindings editor.

Another issue the game can randomly crash, sometimes quite a lot. I found out you can esoterically avoid crashes by playing classic level first thing you do when you start the game. Oh and sometimes level geometry doesn't load and you need to restart the game.

Overall,if they made good controller bindings by default, fixed crashes it would be pretty good game, but right now, it's very fun, but only if you can dead with some bullshit.

I wish they just put VR control scheme and rendering into the normal Doom, because this fast demon slaying in VR works and is extremely fun.

Boneworks showcases some of the best VR mechanics I've seen in a while, but the game is short. Bonelab is a meme.
Skyrim VR is great if you're willing to mod it and troubleshoot it a bit before you start your playthrough, though it's not a shooter. Serious Sam VR is also great fun though it's a bit light on the "VR" aspect. It works perfectly well but it's basically just a 1:1 port of flat to VR.

If you don't have a HMD and planning to buy one for PCVR get Pico4 - basically Quest 2, but with better lenses and screens, no zucc, better weight balancing and the same price.

Only downside - you can't play vast library of quest standalones on it.

1.0 balancing is different, ammo is expensive, there is no tide mechanic - monsters respawn when you go into the zone. Promotes making stashes and staying there for longer. And the biggest difference - there is one big map, instead of many medium sized maps. This makes it more interesting to navigate around, using landmarks, getting the feeling for the zone. Otherwise main story is the same.

It does work, it just has compression and latency which is really hard to see the full scale of if you haven't tried something like an Index. Most people who have an Index don't return to their Quest 2 very often.
Quest 2 is perfectly serviceable for almost any game and is a very nice budget option, but if you have the money and don't mind the wire too much then an Index is heaps better. Especially for VRChat, but you will notice the difference in games like Pavlov too. Colors are muted and the picture quality suffers from compression
The Pico 4 is better than the Quest 2, but it doesn't have the Quest standalone games on it, most notably Resident Evil 4 VR which is quite good.

I've seen this happen more than a few times as well and it's really weird. I feel like I generally try and remain fairly consistent but some people here 180 flip as soon as they're out of game and it's kinda awful. I'm very wary of any of the people that live in the different discord vc all day because many are just different creatures entirely.

It's the proteus effect, which we used to talk about a lot.
We don't talk about it as much anymore. We should probably talk about it more because there are a lot of people nowadays who have failed to manage it correctly running around.

The link cable has the same issues, just lessened to a degree. It can't natively fit all the video and other data over the cable so it still compresses the video. There's a reason wired headsets need both HDMI/Display Port and a USB 3.0 connection.

Honestly I tried to type up a response to this several times but couldn't really articulate it. I think it just comes down to the fact that some people are very consistent between environments while others seem to just warp directly to their circumstances so much that it's bordering on disturbing. I'm not talking private vs public personas, I'm talking full blown personality switching. This isn't inherently a bad thing but maybe I just dislike seeing how unpleasant certain people here can be in certain company sometimes. I treat them well and they take that as a sign that they can go mask down in private and I really do not like what I see when that mask is gone. This just doesn't make sense to me because fundamentally because the best part about any social vr in general is that you can roll mask off from the beginning. In a world unconstrained by physical appearance and largely free of consequence your only real value is your mind.

It's normal.
Normal people will behave at work one day and will behave a different way with their friends. You'll behave differently when you're visiting your parents or with your girlfriend.
Uniforms make people behave differently too. People will tend to fill the shoes they're wearing in that sense.

I feel like people who tend to have this idea that you can just "be yourself, bro" the same way in every moment don't actually have a very good concept of who they are. We're defined by our circumstances both on the macro and micro scale, why would time spent in VR be any different?

I think that we have more than enough decent headsets, really. I just want more games. There is cool flat stuff coming out like Baldur's Gate 3, Armored Core 6, and Starfield. Meanwhile VR is getting... jack shit seemingly for the rest of this year. I just wish that VR devs weren't lazy and could make games that were more than three hours long. I'm more mad about Valve not making a new VR game than them not putting out more hardware as if new hardware came out there would be nothing new to play on it.

I only play those two wired. Best case scenario with VD is dropping bitrate to 90 and switching to x264 and then you get about 34ms latency but on wifi you'll get framedrops anyway so that's a no no.
Via wired you can pump the bitrate to retard tier and still get low latency and stable altency close to 22ms (2 frame buffer)

I am using Virtual Desktop at max settings, not Airlink, ALVR, or whatever
Wireless is OK for slower paced games like Walkabout. But the difference for rhythm games is way too noticeable compared to using an Index that I don't even bother anymore. I can't recommend it to most people.

>>441772415
I'll try that with the charging cable and see how low I can get the latency. I like the QDLED screen and pancake lenses way more than the Index's dated screen and optics, but I just need more responsive controls and clearer video that can be on par with the Index.

It's easy when people have some interest they talk about, since I can just keep on talking about their thing. It's hard for me to keep them at all interested if conversation ever gets to me having to talk about my interests.

To feel less lonely is all about having someone that cares for you too correct?
You need to stick to a friend group that resonates most with you and consistently login and be near a few people.

FBF is mearly a taste test so you can quickly browse and make quick judgements on people and then you can narrow down to which persons resonated with you so you can befriend them harder after. Also allows as a seed for future engagements for everyone you met.

To feel less lonely you must make another person feel less lonely in turn. Consistency is key. I believe in you anon

Well, figure out how to talk about your interests more engagingly then, maybe get into creative writing or watch some videos about rhetoric or the like. Or get better interests/hobbies!
Most of all, though, learn to live comfortably with yourself, on your own. Climb a mountain, spend some weeks in a desert or the like, far away from civilization. Alternatively, take up meditation. Get away from distractions and social norms that you try to conform to. Learn to be comfortable by yourself and become your own master.

I was trying to do just that actually, did creative writing exercises and tried to prepare notes on how and what I could talk to people about.
I think it helped me with other groups of people but not /vrg/.
Better hobbies would probably be ideal, but I really like my current ones and they're a large part of my day to day life and how I plan out my future.
I think I'm not the worst at living comfortably with myself. I do travel a lot and meet new people. Or sometimes just have an outdoorsy camp evening.

Bones have no weight painting. Textures are actually fine. CATS broke the materials.

Use a newer version of blender (3.0+) if you’re on sub 3.0. Blender changes the vertex group data structure making blends created with 3.0 incompatible with previous versions. You can just export the fbx from 3.0 and use your preferred version of blender.

Thanks for the tip. I knew I would have to delete some bones in the hands but wasn't sure which ones. Probably would have deleted the _end ones anyway.

The vertex groups exist on 3.3. Export the fbx on 3.3 and reopen in what ever your preferred version of blender is. Pic related.

I don't understand them myself, they might be necessary for some engines. They're called "leaf bones." When you export to FBX in Blender, they're added by default. There is an export option however to not export with leaf bones.

install Blender through Steam. You don't have to launch Blender through your Steam library, you can shortcut it to your taskbar. It's a convenient way to stay up to date.
