Can second Hellsplit Arena, it's fun and now mod supporting is coming. It's combination of Gorn and BnS. Good evening lads, resident NA exploration enthusiast and cold snoozer here. I just wanted to give a heads up that unless someone wants to take the reigns, I'm gonna be putting regularly scheduled NA Exploration on pause for a bit. I've been pretty busy with work/life stuff going on and just need a break. I haven't really had the energy to do as much map searching as I previously used to and I've just been lower energy than I'd like to be. I may run some small world hopping groups from time to time improv like a few other little circles do but I'm probably going to take a break from it being a regularly scheduled thread event for a bit. We've been going for something like 9 months or so now and I'm thankful for all the nice friends that have shown up regularly, sorry if this comes as a bit of a disappointment. How do episodes compare to HL2 in terms of VR compatibility? Yeah but each chapter I played so far seems to have some VR annoyance. First you're rushed as enemies chase you around which is a little annoying in VR. Then you have to go through sewers with all the jumping and climbing and swimming, very annoying. Then you have the driving level where I actually felt like puking at the end, and I have no problem playing racing games for hours in VR but the jerkiness of the movement of those HL2 vehicles really does it for me. You can't make them turn smoothly no matter how gentle you are with the stick. Then you have Ravenholm which actually does work great, when it doesn't devolve into jumping challenges. And then it's a driving level again, that I'm currently in. I see why 70% of players started it but only 8% finished it.

When you join an event that got announced in the thread, there's usually someone to join off on mentioned, so try sending a friend request to that guy beforehand. When joining, try to locate that person to tell him you're not a rando and came through the thread and maybe get interrogated a bit about what boards you're browsing or the like. VR version of Rebirth is separate game that got lots of flat content removed or scaled back, it's like X Abridged. VR controller support is terrible, the game was clearly made for flight stick and mouse.

I've been trying out DooM 2 VR for the first time with the Voxel mod that just came out.
I expected pure jankiness but it was amazing after a quick rebinding and changing some setting.
I would really recommend it for any fan of classic DooM, it felt like falling in love with it all over again. The voxels are also top quality and look amazing.
Seriously go play it!

The buffed fire and forget missile is now fun to use. The delay takes some getting used to but it's satisfyingly fast and does decent damage on a direct hit. Completely viable in the XL slot.
The only weapon I still can't figure out are the mines. They're hard to precisely position in mid air, have an excruciatingly long reload, disarm if they travel too close to an enemy and they time out once you're ready to fire another. Even with 2 of them it was hard to get kills instead of just knocking off limbs because nobody walks face first into the mines.

Cranking the resolution up I can keep 90fps at high settings now pushing things with these frametimes. At a more reasonable resolution it's only about 6ms for the GPU. It's not too bad. The wrist menus in VR are way nicer than the old ones that it used to use in VR too. I'll seriously play this game now as the robot race mechanics sound like fun.

You can convert between VRC avatar and VRM with some Unity plugins, just google it. VRM is limited to 2 types of shaders (GLTF and Mtoon), it uses VRM-specific bone physics and it needs VRM animator. There's lots of tools to work with VRM for Unity and Blender, it's limited but very simple format.

i use davinci resolve and the keyframe system of censoring makes it not so bad; position where it is, slowly scroll through, then adjust the position and each position adjustment adds a keyframe to the animation of the title text box that hides it

Reading up on Quest 2 PCVR and mixing gear for it - what an absolute fucking shitfest.
Has anyone bothered with this?
I'm wondering if you can use the Index controllers and Tundra trackers with the Quest 2, WITHOUT having to do some entire asinine playspace setup on startup (calibrating is fine if it's just simple 8-figure movement calibration for each controller).
Bonus points if you can force the Quest 2 to not reset the SteamVR playspace every god damn time it's turned on (it centers the playspace on where it was positioned upon start)

Do you guys just sit in a chair in the middle of your playspace when you play "social" games like VRChat? Or do you sit at your desk? Do you use controllers, M+KB, or both? Just looking for ideas on how to more comfortably use VR for a long period of time. I find myself sitting on the floor a lot.

If I'm mixing playspaces I will place a tracker on my headset and use continuous calibration in space cal so when it drifts it corrects itself quickly

It has a relatively short battery life and if I'm plugging it in then that's defeating the whole point.
Putting battery banks onto the headset also defeats the point of it being so light and comfortable (which it isn't even by default, at least not for me).
