Early Bigscreen Beyond impressions after receiving my pre-order yesterday. It started getting kinda long so I put it in a pastebin.
https://pastebin.com/AZFCx7sc
I like it so far, will need to fully test it out this weekend.

I'd go ahead and grab a Quest 3 from somewhere with a really good return policy.

amazon
>>449804426

>>449804640
My usual go-to would be Amazon, but supposedly Meta has a really good return policy if you buy directly from them too.

> It felt like the same resolution jump to me going from CV1 & OG Vive to Index, and now Index to Bigscreen.
Welcome to the world of 2.5k per eye. Bring your own vram though...
When I upgraded from OG Vive to Pro 2 it felt like Jesus came all over my eyes and healed my cataract.
Might as well repost.
Initial impressions from messing around on quest 3 yesterday:
-Calibration with trackers and controllers when not using uniform lighthouse hardware is aids and I will now pour one out for questies
-Display: Mogs my index into another dimension and looks drastically better than the quest 2 and vive pro that I've used before. Mine came in with no dead pixels that I can notice. Glare on the lenses felt notably lower than my index though I need to do more testing on different maps. I could barely notice the fov difference because the edge to edge clarity on the lenses was so much better than the index that my brain was struggling to acknowledge that I no longer had to physically move my head to read text outside of a time sized circle like on my index. Outer edges are darker which is a bit weird but it feels like a small price to pay for the new clarity.
-Power: Even while wired and using a stronger than base brick/power cable to feed a third party link cable I couldn't run the headset indefinitely. I'd ballpark that I couldn't get more than 5-6 hours of power on time before I'd need to take it off and charge and maybe 2 hours with it from full charge not plugged in best case.
-Audio: built in audio is mediocre and for some reason the mic sounds worse than the quest 2 to the point that I suspect it's a software level issue because it's that bad. It is really not good.
-Comfort: Still largely shitty like quest 2 with base strap though it sits a bit less shitty on the face since the center of mass is shifted more towards your face. Aftermarket strap is still mandatory.
Honestly out of everything aside from figuring out the cancer of space calibrator my main concern was that I can't get the fucking thing to charge while in use. I was using it more or less full send via virtual desktop but even turning the brightness down and switching from the supplied 18w adapter to a 45w samsung adapter/cable just would not result in even neutral battery burn.
>>449805073
the peel on beyond is unironically frustrating cause it has a bunch of tiny flaps
Threadly Dirt Rally 2.0 event reminder, we're currently running Group B RWD in Germany.
It's not as tough as it sounds, but I'd still recommend getting some practice in if you're not comfortable with any of the cars.
You still have until next Monday (10/16) to set a time. Club link is in the OP rentry if you're interested.

I suppose to follow up on this I don't have enough of an idea of the colors yet though it did feel like when I turned the brightness down it didn't get as dark as the index if you care about vr snoozin. Colors seemed similar enough but hard to tell til I've been through a variety of maps, the increase in clarify is still pretty jarring compared to my index and it's gonna take some re-adjustment for sure. Also couldn't figure out how it's supposed to sit on my head because there just didn't feel like a sweetspot existed because basically everything outside the outer edges was clear though it's hard to say how clear because I'm used to everything outside the center being actively eye straining on the index even when I had it sat perfectly on my face. I wish I had a qpro or a pico for comparison because right now I feel like my index is visually a paper weight in comparison aside from the vastly superior mic/audio solution.
>>449805152
What exactly are you referring to with calibration, just setting up your play space? If so it was way simpler on my Quest 2 than CV1, you just draw the bounds with your controller. I could imagine the auto play space set up with the 3 being cancer though.
Also, wireless should actually solve your battery problem as long as you get a 45W PD charger that has a compatible cable
>>449804426
>I can feel my bottom eyelashes touching the cushion sometimes which is annoying.
you want to make sure you're wearing the top bit like on your eyebrows or so
there should be a good amount of space downwards
>>449805152
They glare is not so bad? So many people are complaining the glare is worse than Q2 which is my biggest issue I had with VR headsets. Idk what to believe
>>449804426
My monkey wife...
>>449805678
Meant trying to get the index to work with vive trackers and an index controller. The actual playspace setup speed from the quest was very solid. Running the mixed playspace shit is cancer and I've ordered an extra tracker so I can do the continuous calibration meme. I was burning juice on air link with the link cable plugged in as well as running it wired even when I was on my 45w samsung charger.
>>449805908
I mostly use my index which has pretty bad glare and it didn't seem as bad though again I haven't tested it extensively yet in maps where glare would be a particular problem so take that with a large grain of salt.
>>449805824
>you want to make sure you're wearing the top bit like on your eyebrows or so
Yeah I am, I took the faceplate off the headset and then held it to my face and looked in the mirror, and it seems like its actually my eyelashes are rubbing up against the sides of the cushion, not the bottom.
>>449806116
huh, could maybe ping support and see what they suggest/might do to alleviate that
>>449804426
>90hz mode still sharper than index, but it didn't give me the same wow factor or feel like the resolution jump I was previously describing as it did in 75hz
>With the Beyond, the middle of the screen is god tier resolution, but if you move your eyeball to look anywhere else you're going to see lots of blur, lots of chromatic aberration.
That's super disappointing
>>449805648
>I wish I had a qpro or a pico for comparison
That sounds like my experience with the Qpro coming from an Index. I can tell a bit when it's tilted down too much but it's more a vague sense of wrongness in my eyes than actual loss of clarity. Even that may be because I wear glasses.
So what happens if you buy a Quest 3 from Amazon, claim the free game, decide you don't like the headset, and return it? Do you just keep the free game? Seems kinda crazy if that's how it works
>>449806220
once you adapt to it, you really dont look at the edges as much
they emphasize looking straight ahead to get the best periphery vision as well and since its so light moving your head isnt a chore anymore
>>449806489
It's a digital key, and Facebook already paid for it so it's not really it's not like they're going to give them out infinitely as well they'll just remove the "free game" when the keys run out on the store page
I'm real tired of hearing quest shills constantly. Fuck you if you don't have an Index.
How do you guys deal with sweating all over your headsets? What's the proper cleaning method or prevention
>>449807008
face cover that allows for sweating and then you wipe it off
>>449806952
This is why waitfags always win in the end
>Better than the index at 1/3rd of the cost
>>449806757
I already don't look at the edges much, but I was hoping for something that would actually improve that.Seems like Q3 does, but it has it's own set of drawbacks.
>>449806112
Oh okay, I can see why mixing the two would suck.
Are you sure your Samsung charger supports PD3.0? It might not be actually negotiating the full charger wattage if it doesn't. I don't see why a big name brand 45W charger wouldn't, but stranger things have happened.
>>449806952
I have an Index. There's just no reason to use it after getting a Qpro.
>>449807217
people were saying q3 has similar sweetspot to q2 so not sure; seems like it just has a different type of quality loss at the edges?
>>449805152
for mixedVR calibration you should be using continuous calibration with a tundra tracker stuck on the headset. it literally works flawlessly, dont need to ever calibrate and it starts automatically with steamVR. if you didnt know better youd think it was working as a standard steamVR device
>>449807182
but the hmd cost is the same?
>>449807770
According to >>449805152 it's a bit darker at the very edges, but sweet spot is way better than the Index. That sounds like an improvement from what I'd heard about the Q2.
>>449808045
i only ever used q2 for a few sessions but I can't say I ever had problems with its lenses at least
then again I also didn't really have issues with Index sweet-spot either

To get to the point where I'd actually consider it better than an Index, you're adding a WiFi 6e router, aftermarket strap, battery bank, external audio setup, and Quest Pro controllers to the base cost of the headset.

>>449809926
Don't really give a shit about sims, but at least it knows how to point out the flaws. A 512GB version with dead pixels AND a worse screen than the 128GB he got is terrible. It seems like the amount of Q3s with dead pixels is very high

>>449808704
>there is screen door effect
How? I don't get any screen door from the Quest 2
>>449809651
apple was quick on the draw in the beginning, so they were able to secure the "insufferable faggot" market for phones
for VR, Meta was too late to the party and lost that potential to the Vive line
>>449809926
>i feel like sim users are like furries where they just have an absurd amount of spare money to spend on incremental upgrades
Yea. If you're spending thousands of hours doing something, it's suddenly easier to justify dropping whatever you want on smaller upgrades because you don't have other hobbies eating up your money. Same reason people who play computer games endlessly don't mind spending thousands of bucks on a video card to enable the fancy graphical effects.
>>449811182
He has to be confusing that term for something else, because the actual screen door effect has been eliminated for a while now.
>>449811182
you can definitely see borders between pixels on q2, reconfirmed that recently when comparing it and pico 4 which you can also see the borders between pixels on
>>449806757
That still is pretty disappointing because modern high end headsets have pretty great edge to edge clarity and I can actually move my eyes in other pancake lens HMDs without killing the image quality.
>>449809926
It's still significantly cheaper than the real thing, which is what a lot of those guys are comparing it to.
>>449812292
there aren't many other pancake lens HMDs on the market and only one of them has microOLED

>Same reason people who play computer games endlessly don't mind spending thousands of bucks on a video card to enable the fancy graphical effects.

>>449811807
No it hasn't. Plenty of people can still see SDE even up to around the G2 or so. You have to get thing to like the Bigscreen, Varjo Aero, or Pimax Crystal before it's truly gone outside some very rare edge cases.
>>449812504
Probably getting one in Q2 next year or something unless it turns out that something even better is in the horizon. My 3080 super is acting strange these days.

>>449816945
I had a blast with it. The only thing that was jank was doing platforming sections since you needed to be running at sprint speed for most of them. Everything else was fun and felt really good, even if the base game itself was showing it's age with how far we've evolved on a level design field.
>>449817730
lotterys are typically hard to win...the q3 just officially shipped and we're already seeing screen problems. the bigscreen beyond has barely shipped and we have tons of people with issues. seems like the chinks are getting lazy with QA.

>>449818064
Everything felt jank to me. You're expected to switch between weapons a lot but both switching between them is a pain in the ass and having to remember how to reload each one during a fight is a pain in the ass. Feels like most of the fights in this game is just me fumbling around with controls trying to pick a weapon or reload a weapon while enemies spawn around me. That's not how I remember HL2, I don't know what this is but I know I don't like it. Not to mention the vehicles. My god they suck, every little rock in the road can flip you over
>>449818936
It's more immersive when shadows are actually dark with no light being emitted from them rather than gray. Horror games, space games, anything where light is more than uniform. OLED has a bigger color range in the first place so other colors look better too.
>>449819375
Goddamn thats a massive skill issue

It's wild when I run into somebody, call them a TDA, and then they say they're using something like Kikyo or Selestia. And then comes the realization that with bad enough taste for edits, any base can get that bad in texturing/shading/proportions/emissions.
>>449819375
Most likely not the kind of game you enjoy because I loved the combat and weapon switching as well as manual reload.
>>449820205

>>449819803
There shouldn't be a skill to switching between weapons in the first place. In flat to pick a pistol you hit one button. Here to pick a pistol I have to move my arm up the exact amount, don't move it too far up or you'll pick an entirely different weapon. Oh and those two weapons have completely different reloads, so make sure you don't pick the wrong one

Is skyrim VR any good with mods that add more VR support to it for controls?
>>449820993
game runs like shit on highest-end hardware available because people can upload the shittiest avatars imagineable after booth/gumroad assets have gravitated towards unity-only workflows that allow the most npc-tier of vrchatters to upload avatars with 500 toggles, expressions, outfits, etc.
these users never touch blender and thus don't even have the slightest inkling as to how to optimize their assets manually, like you would for actual production use in a game that needs to run well (especially so for vr)
sure, you can hide via safety settings but this just encourages the bad asset creation pipeline even further because everyone just goes "I only show the few I care about and everyone else does the same!" so everyone sits in their own little bubble of shitty avatars that run like ass
if you dare try to show everyone at all times for immersion have fun with the worst cpu and gpu framtimes you've ever seen, even on a top-spec rig

I tested the kuject link cable yesterday and was power negative. I'd guess from full on regular link I'd get somewhere roughly between 4-6 hours of continuous usage. Burned down similar speed on air link, I'd guess ballpark 1% per 5-10 minutes though it started dropping much faster the lower it went.
>>449821141
I like it. Being able to grab and mess with every prop in the game is really immersive. Having proper holsters is much more fun than swapping weapons flat. You can physically manhandle NPCs too, so shoving enemies is a valid tactic and sex is more immersive. It's probably the best VR RPG.

>>449821669
Kind of. In a modded VR playthrough the standard intro doesn't work so you'll have no idea why Ulfric recognizes you or why your character is reporting dragon attacks. Otherwise it's superior to playing the game flat.

>>449822000
most very poors are very poor because they need to use 4k textures to prevent their detailed abs, tattoos, etc from getting blown out
>>449821774
The guy who made VRIK vanished and it's closed source hence why it's fairly unfinished. Steeds of Ultima goes back in and makes mounted combat good, and VRIK tweaks helps too, but foot tracking is probably out of the question unless someone reverse engineers VRIK or the original author shows up again. You can 'track' NPCs feefees at least.

Not possible since VRC doesn't support tracking for non-humanoid rigs. The best you can do is make a puppet using empty humanoid rig as driver and lots of constraints or FinalIK.

Switching weapons wasn't the absolute cleanest since you had things being different distances but in the same radial direction once you get things like the revolver, pulse rifle, or whatever else you'd normally pick with double tapping the key in HL2, but complaining about reloading is unironically a skill issue. The only one that was even mildly finicky was the revolver since you had to tip the spent cartridges out and then flick the cylinder shut once you'd put in new rounds, but even that wasn't a huge deal since revolver ammo was scarce enough that you wouldn't be emptying multiple clips per fight. It even has an annoying little popup that reminds you to reload or charge the weapon if you haven't, and the individual reload mechanics are all normal firearm operations that you shouldn't have to think about if you're at all familiar with guns, except again for the pulse rifle which you didn't even have to rack the bolt on.
I do take by my statement about everything else feeling good since the crossbow was jank and unusuable as more then a singleshot shotgun since they didn't apply any smoothing on the non-dominant hand so it would jitter as your hand does which makes an unsupported shot at 100 yards as difficult as doing it with a pistol IRL since you don't have the ability to brace yourself into the stock to make it more of a skeletal thing then a muscle thing, but that was such a non-issue I that I didn't think about it once I realized I just wasn't going to use it and I finished the game + DLCs fine.
skyrimVR is that weird case where desktop looks and feels better than VR in sex mods
>>449821390
It makes me laugh when I see people saying then and then I can show the nearest 15 avatars with no safety settings on a 1080 while maintaining a silky smooth 45 to 60 FPS even in public worlds full of the most unoptimized niggerssince I'm on an Index and the base resolution is so low.

Installing mods is as easy as dragging and dropping the zip file onto the Content Manager window if you have that installed like the OP rentry recommends. You can just unzip and copy stuff manually into the assetto folder if you want though.
You shouldn't need the DLC if you can spare a couple bucks more when buying the game on sale.
If you're having other issues, you can ask here or ask in the Mumble when we get started.
guys it is true that if you fap to your own character you make it more attractive to everyone else, can any /x/ anon confirm
>>449829303
any chance you guys might ever consider not using mega for huge stuff? i can't redl any of the vrg mods now because mega scuffed everything up and dl'd the dlc ferrari zip twice instead of the vrg stuff folder, so now I can't even make it to the thing if I wanted to. Where do I even put pirated dlc stuff? Sorry this is common sense stuff, there's no guide for this kind of thing readily available anywhere.
>>449829775
I can upload a mirror somewhere else in a minute if you need it, Mega is just easiest.
Pirated DLC cars go in content/cars, tracks go in content/tracks, and the unlocker files should go in the root assettocorsa folder.

been trying out dungeons of eternity today and it's been a pretty good experience so far, especially for stand-alone only. the setting is a mix of medieval and sci-fi with simple but enjoyable graphics. combat is pretty standard, just flicking the controllers is enough to register hits with pretty solid archery. dungeons are generated frequently with four different flavours to them, exploring them and gathering loot while killing enemies is the main loop. there are a couple different mechanics like needing torches for some sections, which looked good on the qpro but was wishing i had oled for it. at the moment i'd give it a 7/10
Should I get a Quest 3 or Pico 4? Both are available in my country although Pico is about $150 cheaper.

>>449845309
Sure but I'm an impatient son of a bitch. If I order NOW I probably won't see the headset until like April 2024, bet. If there's evidence I'm wrong then I will return my Quest 3 (which is coming tomorrow) and buy the beyond instead.
>>449845528
I mean to be fair anon the difference between quest 2 and 3 graphics seem actually significant. The ability to do 1 (one) whole dynamic shadow is pretty big.
>>449845528
They're called goyim for a reason
>>449845747
Who the fuck cares about GRAPHICS when using VR? It's too blurry to see graphics anyway. We've always known high FOV, refresh rate, good tracking, etc. are the only factors to VR immersion, as well as things like comfort, but normies are treating these headsets like they're fucking console releases where the point of upgrading is graphics. That wasn't even the point of creating a new headset.
>>449845880
You still playing on a cv1 anon? Replayed through alyx on the index and was fucking amazed how much more immersive it was. Now if only it was oled....
>>449845528
Honestly lense quality is about 70% of what I'd buy a headset for and software quality related to performance would be most of the other 30%. I've never really cared much about black levels and I feel like the lense quality/layout is probably the most important part for immersion for me. Similarly comfort is realistically terrible on most headsets stock until you dump in things like aftermarket face plates/counter weights/straps/ect.
>>449845237
You can just order now and cancel to get your money back if you can't get your face scanned or like your Quest 3 too much.

Is the CV1 really that blurry compared to an index? CV1 is the only headset I've used, and I never had a single problem with the resolution in a game. I thought Alyx looked fucking insane on CV1. If CV1 > Index is big CV1 > Quest 3 must be astronomical
>>449849642
CV1 is ancient compared to the index. It's barely out of beta
>>449849642
it was a jump but not MASSIVE, and ofc we lost OLED but the swap from pentile to a standard subpixel layout did help with SDE/perceived desnity
>>449849642
Trust me TRUST ME. When you do finally experience its like you are looking at like idk even know how to describe it. Cross your eyes then uncross them and that's how big of a difference it it is in visual fidelity.
>>449849925
Is this even right? CV1 was marketed as 110 FOV
>>449850181
the index was definitely an increase in fov from cv1/og vive days
it was kind of one of the major selling points but ofc data on this website is subject to whoever manages it and fov is always a very user-specific measurement due to face shape, ipd, etc.
some values are just missing outright ofc for hmds so idk where they get this shit from
>>449849642
Rift is dim and has a highly visible black grid over everything. It's much worse than Index and anyone who says otherwise is blind.
>>449850181
It's not possible to measure headset FOV objectively because it depends on how far away from your eyes the lenses sit. Rift renders something like 105 degrees (according to Unity), and I could see about 100 degrees when my facepad was completely worn out.
>>449850678
that reminds me that I did use a really thin facial interface from vrcover with mine that I eventually used on the quest when I tried that for the couple sessions I bothered with it
>>449846609
I simply don't care for the blacks

Open up Blender, buy or steal some assets from Booth, rip some assets from games, it's time to get world building. you have until December and the theme is winter, anything even vaguely winter themed is fine.
All skill levels are welcome. If you want to build everything from scratch, that's great, but if you want to use booth prefabs and just learn the basics, then that's okay too. There will be a hub world with portals so anyone can visit the worlds at any time but for the event itself the host will have pre-favourited the worlds so they can drop friends+ portals
You can submit your world by sending your world ID to [email protected], vrbuild on Discord or post it in the thread

Is there a particular reason you're using an older version of the DDM S2000? Latest is 1.2. I'm assuming everyone else is using the older version too, so it's probably best to leave it at that to avoid a last minute dilemma for whoever wants to use it. Unrelated, but I wish these modding groups would work together more because I've tried like eight versions of the 400Z and they all have something wrong with them. >>449851934

>>449851759
Just tested it on Assetto and it was great replacing my index. The index sacrificed stereo overlap for canted displays so you only have the 3D in a narrow FOV. Without depth the perception of speed is reduced.
>>449851934nooooo
>>449851759
The Tested video mentioned getting the full 110 when right up against the lenses. Still probably relies on ideal head shape as Quest 2 fov would also get much lower with extreme IPDs.
>>449852726
IPD impacted the Q2 because it was using a single screen.
>>449851650
This doesn't account for sub-pixel density, which widens the gap between Rift and Index more than that would imply.
>>449805548
Assetto Corsa starting now, server details are in the previous post if you're interested.
>>449851165
Just didn't realize there was a new one. I'll have to grab it later.
Do AMD GPUs cut it for VR or is RTX only?
>>449853184
I was using an RX 580 just fine until like 2 months ago. Presumably if it's better than that, it'll be fine.
>>449853184
Technically it's ok. But RX 7000 still has bad VR performance, it's so bad there is no performance increase compared to 6000 series, or even worse.
You will get crashes because some random shader in VRChat breaks under AMD pajeet driver, or video player will break.
Sooo, it you're up to it, then yea, big amount of VRAM helps, but you will have weird problems which you wouldn't have on Nvidia.

You hype it up before the release, pay to fags like shillseeker to shill, get the money from the copies on release and forget about the game.
Bonefags devs did it how many times? Like 4? And it worked every time.

Not sure if you're just shitposting... I ran an 8GB RX480 with my CV1 Rift - upgrading my GPU didn't really change anything for me as much as upgrading my CPU and RAM did. I never had issues with AMD's drivers until recent years though. What I learned is, at least when it comes to Assetto, disable everything in the Radeon Software and underclock the GPU to keep temps down, also enabling DXGI and messing with settings in that to optimize it. As for other games, couldn't tell you - haven't really bothered touching anything else in VR for a couple years now. I think Nshitia would be the more hassle-free experience but I don't think it's worth the price, also I don't like them having a monopoly on the GPU market.
When are you retards stop bringing up the ancient shit like CV1 and the original Vive?
They had ~1080p displays for fuck sake.
Anything below 2500x2500 per eye is simply unacceptable in 2023, and you need the top of the line GPU's for that.
It's time to let the old shit rest.

The stock facial interface of the Quest1/2 is about equivalent to maxing out the eye relief on the Quest3, so the 110hfov is basically a result of being able to lick the lenses with your eyeballs without buying a third-party thin facial interface.
My aryan skull is probably a near-worst-case scenario, and I'm fairly comfortable at 2/4 eye relief; the thick rims around the lenses stabbing me between the eyebrows being the limiting factor.
Zenni's Lens inserts sit on the inside of the rims, so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to use them without having to increase the eye relief.

If it's true that they are making a loss or breaking even on the hardware, then as far as other ways to extract value from you, you can not buy software from them, and you can, in theory, block the headset from accessing the internet. I've never tried it myself, but I've heard people have successfully done that before (while still being able to stream PC VR over wifi).
>>449877235

Not possible to do with recent versions of VD though. The canadian gay goblin requires the app to call home once a month.

How is this news ? Hasn’t this been common knowledge for awhile now?
Airlink sucks ass.
VD has a greedy fuck dev who screws over the users.
ALVR are furries.
I'm so tired of this garbage. How hard can it be to make a wireless transmitter which transfers display port data to the headset, so you don't have to deal with all that garbage encodings, increased latency and retarded devs.
Why nafio can't just release a universal unit? Video feed is the only thing which requires a lot of bandwidth, everything else can be just hacked together later.

Got a tplink router for $50. How is that expensive? The hardest part is going into your network settings to make sure your wireless network is high priority so that it doesn't try to use LAN as a network connection.
The drop in visual fidelity is worth not dealing with the wire. Those things break like they're made out of cardboard.

Would need to double check my CSP settings for VR since it's been a while as well, I know it's had a lot of optimization since. A bit late but I whipped up a little webm from that session. I don't think there was a whole lot worth recording so this is about all I got out of that. The only bad thing going from Quest1 is that you're giving up true blacks, and good colors I guess. You will miss those as soon as you're anywhere dark.
Clarity and lack of SDE will blow your mind, an absolutely world of difference. Remember that you don't necessarily even need to render the game at a higher resolution to benefit from this, but things can look even better if you do.
Difference in FOV isn't quite on the same mind-blowing level, but it is a very comfy increase, even with the vignetting. Going from looking through a pair of toilet paper rolls to looking through a wide pair of glasses. Probably my main reason for keeping the Q3.
going from 72hz to 120hz ( or hell, even 90hz ) will be another significant experience; at 72hz nothing is ever really smooth. VD's reprojection works really well at 120hz too, if your system can't handle it natively. 120hz makes the microstutters you get when streaming basically unnoticeable.

It's a strange situation the one with furries. I see them everywhere on Twitter but barely ever on VRC (and no, I don't just join Friends+). Like they live in apartheid in their own instances separated from the rest of the community.
>>449927685
>>449927964
they join furry only worlds so they can creep on kids without normies interupting. im not even joking either, make a new user account and pretend to be underaged and within 15 mins of joining a furry world youll be getting hit on by a mouthbreather in an otter or rex avatar.

Hello friends.
EU Resonite session in 3 hours! (3pm CST/8pm UTC)
We'll be exploring some worlds today. Servers seem to have stabilized so hopefully there'll be no issues with contacts lists or anything.
Hope to see you all there!
>>449859002
Did they extend the campaign to proper length and added proper non tutorial levels? Multiplayer? Is the mod sdk updated to allow more than just creating empty levels and avatars?
Oh wait, there has been a year without updates and community isn't even trying anymore.
Shit game which had a lot of potential if it was finished. Boneworks was miles better

>>449931045
Unfortunately there isn't much you can do when it comes to getting better frames in Resonite, frames are almost entirely dependent on CPU.
The worlds today are a lot lighter than the particularly heavy worlds we went to during the first couple of sessions, so hopefully your experience won't be as bad

I've been burned by VRMMOs before, there's no chance I'm picking up a poorly reviewed early access one. I have an extra Zenith key from a bundle if you're desperate to try one though.
why does unity just randomly add like 7k tris to my fbx imports and only tells me once im about to upload it. GRRRRRRRRRRR
>>449933074
It almost definitely doesn't. The 10 times I've had this happen it's always always been either not realizing I copied over a dick/glasses/lights without the positioning box deleted with pumpkins or because I was looking at face count instead of tri count in blender.
>>449932771
Man Zenith sounds like a mess. I saw that all my friends played it around launch, but at this point it looks like everyone has since stopped playing it.I'd be up for a key if you posted one though.
>>449933617
i didnt have anything hidden and most certainly didnt add any mesh in unity. its whatever though, only 3k tris over the limit but im too lazy to go back into blender to do it all over again
>>449932771
>>449933776
i played zenith at launch and after the cyber ninja launch but didn't make it to end-game either time. i was thinking of rerolling a cyber ninja to try the new new start
>>449933860
I'm almost positive you've got some random mesh you're unaware in unity then. Every single time this issue has ever come up for me or someone else I know it was some random thing they accidentally copied over with pumpkin. If you're unconvinced re-import a fresh fbx and deselect literally everything but the avatar descriptor and check the upload. If it's still showing the extra tris I'd be baffled.
>>449933776
Sure, here's the key.
>>449934153
I wouldn't mind giving it another shot sometime since it's gotten a few major patches since last time I touched it, but I still don't think they've fixed the problems I had with it at launch.
>>449934838
thx anon. While the mystery meat bulldyke doesn't bode well this game will probably have more than two hours of content so I'll give it a whirl.
>>449933776
Zenith just lacked content and had a bunch of bad design decisions where they clearly copied flat MMO conventions too closely. I don't think a successful VR MMO will resemble most flat MMOs that much.
I still had fun playing it in a group. The grappling hook was a nice addition and resource gathering feels good even if there's not much reason to do it. I'm yet to try since they revamped the skill system but the old one felt far too linear and basic to me.
>>449934960
There's definitely more than a couple hours of content, although I doubt you'll actually see all of it before you get bored.
Just like that other anon, I never made it to the level cap.
>>449934306
i didnt even use pumpkins tools or whatever youre talking about. no additonal meshes selected just the same ones i had in unity. also why does this always take so longgggggg

>>449859307
Thank God I refunded that mess. Don't know why they decided to tank their reputation like that considering how successful Boneworks was.
>>449936205
Some of them are so easy to fix too. The cooking system is the one that really irks me. It would instantly improve if they just removed the preset recipes and level gating, food items aren't even that good so there's no need for these restrictions. Soft progression would still exist based on ingredient location and it would solve the issue where finding new ingredients feels bad because you can't even use them yet.
Experimentation is inherently more interesting and has far more social potential.
>>449937495
They probably sold enough copies for $40 in proportion to how little it cost them to make that they have no need to give a fuck. If they release another game in seven years time you know that 'influencers' will get all of the Quest kids to fall for it again. It's ironic that they were marketing it as a game that you would fix via mods, while never getting around to releasing the full modding tools.
>>449934838
when i last played skyland was introduced and that seemed to have added a lot more quests and consistent things to do
>>449938239
Skyland is cool. Love the hookshot gimmick to move around.
My main problem with Zenith is the server latency and quality when slapping mobs. It just feels laggy really.
>>449933074
it may just be triangulating some quads you have
>>449938764
tell it to stop doing that
>>449938383
Main problem with VR MMOs is that the usual threadmill themepark routine doesn't translate well into VR when you either have to physically move to do all the boring shit that is just keypress in flat like Zenith or you get decent VR mechanics but then devs won't have time to focus on content and you get Orbus. Only VR MMOs that worked are the spacesim ones like Elite, Vendetta or Infinity Fighter but then that's just leveraging the fact that spacesim in VR doesn't need much more than good cockpit view and basic spatial menu.
>>449939369
I think if you want an MMO in VR there's gotta be a complete overhaul of MMO design for it to work, but right now there's just no big team that gives enough of a fuck about such a small niche
>>449939204
unity works with tris only
>>449940017
The core elements were done, Orbus classes were pretty much perfect, Township Tale got the gathering and crafting done, Zenith got the world and traveling idea right and combat should be more akin to BnS than simple wagglan and then you need good quests that aren't just 100 bear asses but you're right that someone would have to sit down and blend all of that together into one game. I don't think small indies can get that done and big studios don't care about VR.
Is there a retard proof guide to VR VAM or are they still gatekeeping?
>>449942179

What PC VR racing games let me go online with custom liveries and have everyone else see them? I want to have an anime girl on my hood but apparently Assetto Corsa can't do that and GT6 is PS5 only.
>>449944536
Assetto can do that, but you have to set skins on server and then assign drivers to specific cars with specific skins. So, lots of work, and only viable in private races/leagues with weeks of headroom to prepare. rF2 loads custom liveries on the fly and allows you to draw them as you please in photoshop, but this game also isn't big on public races, it's mostly closed communities. If you want a custom livery and not an itashawhy would you even want it if not for itasha, iRacing lets you paint your car with their restricted livery elements.
>>449945906
>Assetto can do that, but you have to set skins on server and then assign drivers to specific cars with specific skins.
So I can't just join pubs and have them see my skins. That's what I more or less expected. I'll look at rF2 or see how restrictive iRacing is.

>4/10 Face Tracking Quality
Just got my Quest 3. First impressions:
>clarity is good, feels like I'm looking at a proper screen/display, just through a vr headset
>the passthrough quality is unimpressive, it's nothing like videos and anecdotes, it just feels like quest 1 passthrough but with color and maybe x2 resolution (haven't tried quest 2 before) also I can't read my phone through it, that's a lie
>comfort is fine
Everybody everywhere is shit talking the comfort saying it's abysmal so I was prepared for the worst, but out of the box it's more comfortable than the Quest 1. It just feels lighter than Quest 1 due to the center of gravity and the strap hugs to my face better. And my main headset is an Index. Not sure what's going on with online discourse, either I have a weird head shape or people are pussies. The comfort surprise is good because I accidentally got the Quest 2 elite strap instead of the Quest 3 elite strap and now I have to return that.
As for lenses, I can't tell the difference between pancake and whatever the other thing is, it just feels the same to me, there's still a sweet spot and you have to move it up and down.
7/10 experience, might stick with the Index as my daily driver though.

>>449951998
Bro the passthrough compared to the Quest 2 is like going from 240p to 1080p. You probably set your expectations insanely high if you weren't impressed by it. You 100% can read your phone, sure the text can be a little blurry depending on the color of the background but it's completely readable.
>>449952440
Yeah my last headset with real passthrough was the Quest 1 so I was expecting a huge jump in quality. It's still grainy and slightly laggy, nothing has changed, it just has color now.
>>449948678

There's already tons of VR rhytm games. Samba de Amigo was fun but making it VR doesn't really change anything about the controls since it was always "shake two controllers" deal, maracas, wiimotes or VR controllers - it makes no practical difference for the gameplay. It's also not first time Sega is porting its older rhytm game to VR and Space Channel VR was insult to the Dreamcast games.

>>449960251
> I'm literally 300 big chungus wholesoming here!!! And at a reasonable price?!?! *dies of good deals*
>>449960059
LMFAO
>>449960664
And I said you do a shit job playing "hey fellow user" advertisers and need to be fired. You are not worth the budget and basically scammers that are likely responsible for a lot of sales never happening while you jerk off in vrc
>>449960429
Gee maybe that’s because the UK and Europe constantly get fucked over by tech pricing so I have to pay the equivalent of $584 for a Quest 3.
>>449961030
Pampers, the monkey game "shilling" was genuine.
Please fuck off already.
>>449962185
No. Not until your crew was laid off
When you made the wish for the thread to be more serious and more like /v/ you should have known that console wars and people calling each other shills all day was what you were going to get.
>>449962272
What a useless post, thanks.
>>449962237
When are you going to get a job? You are almost 30 years old.
>>449962337
you're welcome
>>449962272
It's for the best. I would take this over discussion about gay sex, furries, interpersonal drama, and avatarfagging any day. Console wars are a long storied tradition. I can't wait for that Apple headset to come out so we'll get even more VR related discussion/flame wars going.
>>449962272
I just wanted to talk about videogames.
>>449962440
I'm not you boogeyman you idiot - and as said I wont stop until you all lost your contracts and have to suck real dick under bridges
Chill your fucking pants, the thread will go back to the transgender-spamming life support once Q3 newfags will inevitably fuck off.
Exactly the same thing happened at PSVR2 release.
>>449962823
You are not fooling anyone, pampers. Your stink is distinct. Change diapers before posting next time.
>>449962597
Console wars is one of the biggest cancers that comes with this site because it's so repetitive and boring.
>>449963027
I'm fine with them given that the realistic alternative is Discord/VRChat and ERP drama filling the thread. VR game discussion isn't going to catch on in the short term sadly.
>>449962272
and yet it's still way more engaging than just seeing worthless posts with troglodyte avatars attached to them. Funny how that works
SteamVR 2.0 opens the menu about 15 seconds after taking a screenshot and I cannot find any way to unbind this shit.
>>449963021
I'm not your boogeyman - I'm just somebody that knows what is going on here and wont stop until you failure cartel lost its contracts and has to suck real dick under bridges
>>449963432
Yeah, of course, bro.
>>449924273
You communicate by whining rather than being a reasonable human being asking to place other events.
You attack and destroy others while not trying to build those you support.
That's what kind of person you are and I hope you can change this behavior. It's unsightly and ugly
>>449963521
bruhhhhhh, you are going to be laid off and than its over because you already have a reputation, the reason why a bunch of studios are never going to hire you in the first place - and you wont be able to gate keep
>>449963592
I have dealt with your bullshit for years now Yuki, and it's tiring. You don't listen to anything and do only what you want.
>>449963240
>>449963357
Schizophrenia is more entertaining, especially when people aren't fags about it.
The problem with the thread isn't the topic, it's that the people here are fags about everything. Your schizophrenia isn't fun and neither are the console wars because so many people here are eternally butthurt about one thing or another.
>>449963791
Categorically false I have tried my best to incorporate all inputs from the thread and from my friends. My method is and has always been compromise and collaboration. Not everything you suggest can be mixed but some of it will be there.
DM me right now if you really have major grievances and we can talk it out. From the sound of it though you're not really someone who has worked with me in any capacity on the worlds/events else you would've contacted me first.
I was hyped to upgrade to Quest 3 and after 2 hours of having fun with it I realized that there is no games to play. It's collecting dust now.
>>449963027
tribalism is invasive
not like vrg didn't have tribalism already
>>449961632
That makes it more popular?
>>449964943
Is the blue/red stuff not “interest/disinterest”?
wagie golf in 2 hours
>>449965279
No. Red is Meta Quest, Blue is Apple Vision Pro.
>>449962272
Except I didn't say that though
>>449965296
please stop having sex in the cave of the practice lobby. Thank you!
>>449956530
Make sure they're not playing VRChat, they might encounter people from the thread on there
>>449968157
The general population of vrchat is somehow worse than most of the people here.
Quest 3 handles 120hz far better than Q2. after yesterday's Assetto session, I have moved my index into the closet that has become an HMD grave yard. I may still get a beyond or wait for whatever Valve throughs onto the market. Tribalism and console war faggotry is just poorfag cope because they can only afford one.
>>449956530
Probably Rec Room and Gorilla Tag if I had to guess. Probably specifically those 2 games
>>449968540
>Quest 3 handles 120hz far better than Q2
In what way?
>>449968681
I assume he means it's able to decode 120hz video via PC link more consistently
>>449968915
I assumed that too, but that doesn't make sense.
>>449969006
It does make sense because the quest 3 has a better processor.
>>449969240
I play Q2 at 120hz, it handles it just fine.
The gay goblin talked about it, so most likely he is just parroting him.
I doubt he can actually notice the difference himself, aside from placebo.
>>449956228
>Bruh fucking EVERYONE was talking about Vision Pro.
The fuck is a vision pro?
>>449969746
Some sort of lasik surgery, idk
Akimbo deagles with the laser sighting.
>>449969746
the headset ur mum buys to watch bbc porn
need more reviews on 200mbps hevc or 200mbps av1 before I decide to get a quest 3
>>449970953
AV1 really doesn’t give much of any improvement over HEVC when using the NVENC/AMF hardware encoders at high bitrates. It works well at low bitrates (sub 250Kbps) and also has good decoder error correction, but the VMAF comparison shows negligible difference.
>>449971925
yeah I've seen people on the VD discord mention that they might even think 400 h264 is better. either way, I just want a wireless experience without annoying artifacting all over foliage like the quest 2 gives.
NA Sign Language meet will be happening at 10 eastern, which is a bit over 2 hours from now. Come join and learn new things or practice what you've been learning.
>>449972408
VD is a scam. Anybody buying VD is an idiot
>>449973362
didn't ask
>>449973734
I know you didn't ask, you get paid to shill that crap.
>>449973786
are you saying i should use meta shit instead? dumb facebook shill
>>449970953
Pay attention to battery life and how long it can run while gaining charge. That matters even more if it's bad.
>>449973932
Meta works better. Vd is bloat and spyware not needed
>>449974569
I should really contact that guy, the way you are afraid of him. he likely has some more inside to ruin 4chans reputation even more
>>449975410
You can change your IP, but you can't change your diaper.
So ever since that vrchat update the other day, the creator companion is broken. Has anybody else been able to get it to work? I can do some of it manually but I need the packages it installs.
>>449975529
You are getting really desperate, I have no idea who that guy is for now, but judging by the way you are afraid of him, he probably knows some details I don't know and vise versa. Prepare for your future and buy knee pads, you are going to suck a lot of dicks when I'm done with your little cult

I apologize for the lateness due to technical issues, which is fortunately fixed now.

You see the numbers, it's not getting better, and people love nothing more than to hit dead horses like this website, especially when it involves bigger companies as well that got scammed.
Scandals, gossip, you know the game but this time you are going to be on the receiving end, and lose your income

Why limit things to your perversions when one can at the same time bankrupt your little cabal and destroy your scam at the root. Numbers are not looking good, they are going to look worse
>>449979306
What were you doing for the last couple of days? Can you just go back there?
>>449948678
i guess yuru but without the wife and kids

>>449981351
nah I'm a big believer in the idea that most online mentally ill people can be fixed by getting a job
I like pretending to be a VR developer. What's the most comfortable headset for putting on and taking off every 2 minutes and peeking out of to use the computer?
Is it the rift S? HP reverb G2?
My rift is thoroughly worn out and a pain to keep stretching those springs.

>ATTENTION: A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER FOR VIVE COSMOS THIS IS NOT A DRILL SEEK VIVE COSMOS UNIT AND PREPARE IT FOR PROCESSING
>>449803973 (OP)
hi frens. a while ago I asked about Q3 and FBT calibration. A kind anon said you can attach the 4th tracker to your head so it elimaites the 8-motion manual calibration. Is there any info on this exactly? what are you suppose to do exactly; is it just a one-time thing you do that you can take off after it finishes calibration, or?
>>449985339
no, it has to be stuck to the headset permanently while using it. it works flawlessly though, once you do it. most people use an adhesive screw thing so they can remove the tracker but not the part it screws onto.
follow this guys video (he does it for a quest pro but it works the asme for every headset)

Now featuring progression and point system!

sure but you get one point every six months and you get restarted if you miss a day
how many of you would actually troon out if you had the chance to be mildly attractive girls
>>449986606
One point every week!
>>449985315
Huh, I thought the rift s would do that because it looks like it has a hinge, but i guess not without modding.
Has the cosmos stopped being a POS?
>>449984432
If you have $1000 to blow then the Bigscreen Beyond with the flip up mount given that the headset is only 100 something grams.

Reminder that ArcticFox's fork greatly improves on bd_'s initial continuous calibration fork: https://github.com/ArcticFox8515/OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator/releases
also guide tl;dr: install the thing (it's a SteamRV driver/addon ), open in SteamVR dashboard, select HMD, select tracker to use for calibration, hit continuous calibration, basically done.
