Contractors showdown is surprisingly high quality... Too bad VR is dead, otherwise it would be an instant classic

Last year's event did well but one of the things that caught me off guard (and that i should have expected) is that everyone just wore a maid outfit and wanted to be one of the maids regardless of the sign ups etc at the last one.

So this year we're going to split it into two. There will be a maid expo event on May 25th where we do the regular event and group photo.
On June 1st, there will be a much more focused maid cafe run like one of the JP host clubs where people will sign up for slots to spend a short time with a particular maid. I'll probably hire 7-11ish people for the maid spots for that. I hope to see you there!

To the anon asking about the vampire game, the reviews are right the game is trash.

Is unpolished as hell with bugs everywhere but even if they fix them the game itself is just boring.

Basically linear corridors everywhere, the stealth its really basic and braindead because there are no choices other than go high or low.

There are no melee weapons or at least not before I quit it, only vampire powers which are literally point and press a button, so the combat is boring too.

You get a hand crossbow but its mostly used to shoot at some green collectables as if you were playing an arcade game from the 80s

There is no reason to explore other than old school collectables and while you can grab some stuff and open/close cabinets there is no gameplay or roleplay reason to do it.

Graphics are good but it still is a quest game and the story may have been interesting but it cant make up for the rest of the game.

Fuck whoever say it was dishonored in VR, if this was a flat game no would consider it anything but trash

Popularity contest

So I haven't modded skyrim VR yet but there's a problem that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere

When you start a fresh vanilla game, the floor level is correct. I leave my floorspace outline turned on in steam VR. However I'm too short, even women in the game are significantly taller than me (I'm 6ft IRL). The game has a height slider, but that just raises your head camera in game, which makes the distance to the floor incorrect and I perceive it as being below my feet.

What fixes this? Adjusting stereo separation? Do mods handle it?

I think you set those independently in the VRIK settings. There's one for VR scale so that everything seems to have a proper scale to you then you can adjust your character height on top of that.

Yes, your goal should be to get 90/120fps on Shutoko Revival Project with 80-100 cars loaded. It's one of the most resource demanding tracks available (and most popular). When you have your settings optimized for that, you'll be golden on nearly everything else. Most other tracks can be run on default/higher settings, so you may want to consider making two graphics presets that you can switch between like I do. Also, I'm assuming you went through the process of installing Content Manager and Custom Shaders Patch already. Go into CSP Settings and disable ExtraFX if it's not already off since it doesn't work in VR but can still drain frames. In AC video settings, change the reflections frequency to 1-2 times per frame and lower shadow resolution as needed. You may also need to lower the reflection frequency in the Smart Mirrors module (CSP Settings again) as well, but with your GPU it's probably unnecessary and you may be able to get away with more - couldn't tell you since I'm running on a 5700XT which is apparently considered prehistoric now.

Finally finished the Outer Wilds DLC. It was good, played perfectly in VR. I think it took me about 8 hours total; it was a while since I played the base game so it took a little bit to get used to the controls again; is my brainlet excuse anyway. It does indeed have some spooky parts, but it's not bad even in VR. About phasmophobia-level spook, or slightly more than Jeff in Alyx. It's dark and you have the limited range flashlight meme, and (limited spoiler) there's stealth sections to avoid spooks chasing you.

It is still kind of shocking how good the game is. Even compared to something native like Wanderer, the puzzles and platforming just feel good, instead of the slight jank in wanderer trying to do some of the VR interactions.

WebVR / WebXR are so bitrotted that it's practically impossible to view stuff built with them on PCVR (i.e. steamVR) these days; you mayybe can still find the right about:config or flags:// settings to get it working but it's pretty grim. And even then you still only get a webgl context in VR, not like the regular DOM; you then have to choose the least bitrotten scene graph and render loop (three.js and a-frame maybe), and multiplayer networking on top of that, and then realize nobody uses this stack for real games so there's no docs.

Charitably, you do all of this so you can use the fastest most secure sandbox environment ever made (javascript + web APIs). However, non-browser WASM sandboxing is more and more developed these days (driven by cloud ""serverless" stuff). Thus, I posit you're better off starting on an existing scene graph and game loop that already has battle-tested, well-documented (relatively speaking) openXR bindings, and add a sandbox and scene loading and multiplayer networking to it. unity + photon + udon is vrchat's path to this. shillout is apparently trying to do lua (moonsharp-based?). resonite has its own noodles and networking, however it works. v-sekai seems to have most the parts on top of godot4 built, or half-built, or something (I can't be fucked to join their discord, somebody else tell us what they do in there).

But once you choose a platform, the rest is relatively straightforward to build. You need scene loading and scripting sandbox, multiplayer networking, and avatar/IK, i.e. what you get from the vrchat sdk and servers for free at the moment. As for profit, I don't think you can sell your system to end-users; maybe VCs will bite but you'd have to lace it with AI slop, and it'd eventually be cucked for profit like vrchat is. I suspect patron bux is the only viable path.

And then the third year I did a huge cyberpunk march / vox machinae event (big thanks to everyone who helped out with that, B and H were both amazing MVPs)

I think the accusation you're making is because I made a statement that people don't have a lot of passion for cyberpunk march, which is true. It's just not an event that a lot of people have passion for and it needs someone passionate really pushing it to work.
It worked well the first year because meeps (and others) showed a TON of good cyberpunk movies.
It worked well the third year because of the vox event, but it was also looking to be a disaster until that point because so many people decided to be cowboys instead. That was due to a newfag at the time (who is my friend despite frustrating me with the stunt) decided it would be a good time for clout farming.

Anyway, the second year fell flat because nobody was really pushing it.
